About
Avalon Hollywood is a historic wedding venue situated on Vine Street in Los Angeles, California. The venue is comprised of two event spaces, which were worked on in 2014 to meticulously restore and provide dramatic updates to the 1927 Hollywood landmark. Featuring Spanish Colonial architecture, the facility is frequently used for nightlife events, weddings, and as a filming location.
Facilities and Capacity
Couples can choose to host their wedding ceremony, reception, or elopement, as well as bridal showers, engagement parties, and rehearsal dinners at Avalon Hollywood. On the second floor of Avalon is a space called Bardot, featuring the three available event spaces. The Lounge Bar features tufted banquettes and dimly lit golden ocher walls. In the Courtyard, couples will love the charcoal wood flooring, cordovan color-brushed walls, and vintage oil portraits. There is also a Tented Bar that features magnificent textiles, sconces, and chandeliers.
Services Offered
Used to hosting a variety of different events, crowd sizes, and atmospheres, the Avalon Hollywood offers catering, event coordination, production, security staffing, beverage services, furniture rentals, and parking services. Couples can work with the venue’s event planner to coordinate their occasion as well as set up and break down services. The venue does allow outside vendors, although they can provide most services themselves.
Cuisine
Couples may choose to have a buffet, family-style, stationed, or plated catering menu, using the venue’s barware, flatware, and glassware. The venue can also accommodate desserts and hors d’oeuvres, although couples can provide their own wedding cake from a favorite bakery. With fully stocked bars, the venue bartenders are capable of handling an open, cash, or limited bar serving:
- House beer, wine, and liquor
- Champagne toasts
- Premium liquor
- Signature drinks
History
Since first opening in 1927, Avalon Hollywood has been a show business epicenter. First known as the Hollywood Playhouse, the venue has gone through a series of renaming until settling on Avalon in 2002. In the 1950s, Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, and Judy Garland were brought to its stage, while Jerry Lewis also hosted his weekly Saturday night television program here. The 1960s hosted a new ABC variety show at the theatre, bringing Louis Armstrong, Joan Crawford, The Rolling Stones, and The Jackson 5. In 1978, the building was restored into a concert venue and nightclub and has since hosted some of the world’s most famous celebrities such as Prince, Madonna, Duran Duran, Nirvana, and The Beastie Boys. Today, its recent notable performances include Calvin Harris, Tiesto, Swedish House Mafia, and other celebrity DJs.
