My mother would say I first fell in love with music before I was born. Any time I’d cry she’d play music and set me down and I’d become perfectly content. My whole life I knew I was drawn to music. The first time I sang in public I was a freshman in high school. We had a culture day celebration and I sang in front of my whole high school it was then I realized I had a gift. Shortly after my performance I began singing Loretta Lynn covers with a band and I was hooked. I only sang with them for a year because education was more important at the time so singing was put on the back burner. I picked up singing again after graduation just singing karaoke at local ice houses in my home town it was then I was offered a position hosting karaoke. It was my dream job. I fell in love with helping people come out of their shell and giving them the confidence they needed to get on stage. That’s the true joy I get from being a KJ. I’ve been hosting Karaoke for 20 years and I can say it’s definitely not a job for me it is my favorite thing to do in the whole world.
