Brown Oaks is a wedding ceremony and reception venue in Summersville, West Virginia, that’s perfect for both intimate gatherings and large-scale entertaining. This historic property was once the 1923 Dr. Flavius H. Brown House and is the perfect example of colonial revival architecture. The casual elegance of this private location will make you and your guests feel right at home (and maybe a little pampered). You can rent the facility for one day or an entire weekend. Either way, you’re sure to make memories here that last a lifetime.

Facilities and Capacity

Brown Oaks can accommodate up to 200 guests across its three event spaces. The Main House has two stories and is symmetrically balanced around a central hallway. Inside is the Gathering Room, which can seat 12 people comfortably for dining at a large table. Across the hall is the Drawing Room, which can seat up to 32 people. There’s an full service kitchen available for your use, complete with a fridge, stove, oven, dishwasher, and microwave. A handicap ramp and covered porch are located at the rear of the house, and there’s a large side porch to use if you need additional space to entertain.

The professionally landscaped Lawn and Gardens offer its own special flavor and color for every season, making it a beautiful backdrop for an outdoor ceremony. Located behind the house is a small patio space and a kitchen garden, perfect for handling alfresco dining or acting as a staging area.

The Carriage House was completed in 1934 and is located behind the Main House. The walls and foundations were constructed from a locally-manufactured handmade “Walker” brick. This air-conditioned suite includes a food buffet area and can be rented individually or in addition to the Main House and Lawn and Gardens.

Services Offered

Brown Oaks is wheelchair accessible and has ample parking available for you and your guests. Couples are able to rent the space(s) for bridal showers, ceremonies, elopements, engagement parties, receptions, and rehearsal dinners. There is an on-site bridal suite available for the wedding party to prepare in, and couples can choose torent a tent for use during an outdoor event.
