About

Our Hotel:

Nestled amid old-growth trees and native tropical vegetation, our Boutique Hotel is celebrated for not only our world-class service and dedication to our guests, but also our mission to celebrate and protect the beauty of Costa Rica.

Situated on the white sand beach called Playa Langosta, just a few steps from Tamarindo, our guests are treated to superior amenities and services, whether you're coming to us for a family retreat, or a romantic wedding or honeymoon.

Offering open-air yoga, surf instruction, spa treatments and a wide array of activities and packages to suit any taste, . Cala Luna delivers only premier quality, combining elegant taste, individualized care and respect for nature.

Whether your definition of luxury embodies reclining behind fluttering curtains in a poolside cabana, soaking up the sunshine from your lounge chair on a secluded beach, or sipping cocktails from our lounge under the starlight, once you arrive at Cala Luna, you'll know you've arrived where you belong.

Our Home:

Secluded from Playa Tamarindo's bustle, the village of Playa Langosta rests on a west-facing slice of land, looking out upon the shimmering Pacific and nightly sunsets that consistently dazzle even the most experienced observer.

Here, rustling trees line the white sand beach that makes up Playa Langosta, and waves crash onto outcroppings of volcanic rock, producing dazzling aerial sprays. Following the shoreline brings wanderers to the Langosta estuary, where the salty ocean waters meet a freshwater river that runs from inland and lends a rich ecosystem to a local population of white seabirds that, when disrupted, lift off the surface of the water in a spectacular display of grace and elegance.

Scuttling hermit crabs and bits of driftwood dot the clean beach, collecting under the shade of the leafy trees. These cool alcoves make for lovely private places to sit and relax, and watch the waves roll toward the shore.

There are not enough words to describe how perfect this venue is....

My husband and I wanted a fairly small, extremely intimate destination wedding. We wanted to get married at a resort that would be focused on our event and our people, and Cala Luna far exceeded our expectations. Jean Carlos, the resort's event planner (and the most awesome person ever), helped us create our perfect wedding, our perfect weekend and the perfect two-week stay in Costa Rica. He was by our side every step of the way for the entire year that we were planning the wedding. He helped with everything related to the wedding itself, but he also made sure all of our guests had proper transportation, the best accommodations, activities set up during their stays, etc. He helped us plan our bridal luncheon, rehearsal dinner, wedding, after party, visit to the sustainable farm... The list goes on and on. The owners and staff at the resort were more than accommodating. They learned our guests' names and made everyone feel right at home. Not to mention that the location and resort are absolutely stunning. If you're considering getting married in Costa Rica, Cala Luna should be at the top of your list! My husband and I do not have one complaint about our entire experience working with Cala Luna. They became part of our family.

We ❤️ Cala Luna 🌙

We truly LOVED our experience at Cala Luna. The staff was incredibly helpful and so nice. Leading up to our stay, we ran into some kinks with communication. We were a little confused about our room block since we had said we had more guests than they gave us rooms for. We ended up being able to book 70 of our guests (except for 6 of our guests) at Cala Luna. It was amazing to have all of our friends and family there and they RAVED about their stay. We saw very active monkeys around 3pm almost every day and we got picked up for activities right in the lobby. It was perfect. I had included yoga to start at 7:30am on Saturday (day of the wedding) and when I checked in they said it was at 7:15am. We were able to negotiate and move it to 7:30am which helped as we had about 20 of our guests do yoga. (I posted a photo of me with my mom and bridesmaids)

I know communication is hard between countries, especially since it was via email. But it did cause us a lot of stress in the beginning stages of planning. There was a lot of confusion going back and forth and at one point the rate on the website was lower than our wedding rate. But we were all already booked and ready to go. One other minor note is that some of the 2 and 3 bedroom villas are a little dark during the day so it was a little challenging to find good lighting. But it all worked out.

Overall, I’d recommend Cala Luna as a host hotel for a wedding in Tamarindo. Or even just a beautiful place to vacation to! We are back in Florida and miss it so much!
