Hello darling, my name is Dominique! I’m so glad that you are here and taking the time to read about us. All right so here is my backstory: I was raised back and forth between Quebec and Virginia Beach, VA. Thanks to my mom and her side of the family I learned French and then English. Growing up I was in magnet art schools for as long as I can remember and I always had a passion for the photographic arts. I got my first camera when I was 11 and it was my pride and joy. I formally opened my photography business in 2015 and started to photograph my friends from school. Portraits and Family photography were my bread and butter until I did my first wedding in the spring of 2016 and everything changed. Weddings became my passion and I knew I wanted to pursue it. I graduated in 2018 from the Governor’s School for the Arts located in Norfolk, VA, with a focus in documentary photography. I moved to Boston to attend university and graduated from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design with a BFA in Art History in 2021.
A few fun facts about me: I’m obsessed with Pho, I love bubble tea, I’m a proud cat mom of two however I’d love to grow our family and add a dog someday, I kinda have a thing for stars, I identify as LGBTQIA+ and also BIPOC, I’m generally a homebody but I do love a good adventure, and Late Fall is arguably the best time of year no questions asked haha.
Javier Castillo was born in Washington DC and raised in El Salvador. Growing up he went back and forth between El Salvador and the United States. He attended Colegio Bilingue Academia Europea in El Salvador and Arlington High School in Arlington, MA. After Graduation, he attended Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Javier received his BFA in Film/Video with a minor in Photography in 2022. Javier and I met in 2019 at Massart and we have been inseparable ever since. We live and work together in the greater Boston area. He is passionate about highlighting his experiences as a first-generation Latinx/Latine as the primary focus of his work. His goal as an artist and filmmaker is to engage with the surrounding film community. Specifically, with women, ALANA/BIPOC identifies individuals, and other minority filmmakers and make the space to tell stories about people that look like him. Javi speaks English and Spanish fluently.
