The Cunneen-Hackett Arts Center is housed in two beautiful historic landmark Victorian-age Italianate buildings located at 9 and 12 Vassar Street in downtown Poughkeepsie. Incorporated in 1981 as a 501c3 organization, they host dance, music, drama, lectures, films and theater performances in the 200 seat VBI Theatre as well as present rotating exhibits in their three art galleries. Both buildings have been listed on the National Historic Registry since 1972 and are maintained and preserved as a vitally important resource for the community and current vibrant cultural arts scene. Weddings, special events and all celebratory occasions held at the Cunneen-Hackett Arts Center are made especially grand and unique. The 9 Vassar Street location is replete with two roofed outdoor porches, a kitchenette, a conference room and a magnificent Grand Parlor that can accommodate groups up to 100 people, The VBI Theatre at the 12 Vassar Street location is the ideal space for larger-scaled events. The rental rates are low at the Cunneen-Hacket Arts Center making it accessible and affordable for all.
