As an "older" bride, I really wasn't excited by the dress shopping part of getting married. My much younger sister had gotten her wedding dress at Elizabeth Johns and had gotten married in the area. Since I was getting married out of state, where I reside, the trip to Elizabeth Johns I thought would be the springboard to have this experience with my Mom and sister in my hometown and then later I'd get a dress near our venue in NYC.
I knew I wanted a dress that was structured but beyond that I had no idea and had saved a photo of a Romona Keveza dress I saw online as the only dress I had seen that I could sort-of, maybe envision myself wearing.
When we arrived at EJ's I was quickly and suprisingly put at ease with Samantha who was my assigned stylist. She quickly assessed my concerns (older bride, not trying to look like a younger bride). Within minutes of being in the store, I learned the ONLY dress I'd bothered to save a photo of on my phone, had just arrived at EJs and was on a mannequin (I had no idea they carried that line). My sense of humor and Sam's totally clicked and I felt so comfortable explaining to her that as someone with Type 1 diabetes, I would also need to factor in, where I'd place my insulin pump in or under my wedding gown. She was completely understanding. She made the entire experience fun. So to my shock, that first dress was THE dress. I felt fantastic. A traditional veil wasn't for me and within seconds Samantha had a custom Russian veil (more like a netted pouf) in my hair (which had been made at EJs) to offset the A-symmetry of my dress. She also had me try on earrings to get the full picture and months later, I ended up getting the earrings too (they are so unusual and I LOVE them). Although coming back and forth from NYC for fittings was a little bit crazy, I 100% wanted to the sale to go to a store where I felt comfortable and that was in HUGE part because of Samantha. Looking back now, I am glad I shopped hometown local as it enabled my Mom, sister and neices to also be there for my fittings and part of the experience.
The service I received at Elizabeth John's was amazing through the entire experience and I'm so grateful to Samantha for helping me every step of the way (literally as she helped when I was repeatedly was unsuccessful in finding shoes that were modern but plain, and narrow enough for my feet and helped me with Junior Bridesmaid and my Heart (Flower) girl's dress.
Esh at EJ's ws my helper with my 2 bridesmaids dresses as well which included working with my then pregnant sister and ensuring she had a dress that would work for her at my wedding too..
All-in-All a great experience!

Elizabeth Johns is a gorgeous boutique with quality wedding gowns. Sam was fantastic to work with and made my dress shopping experience seamless. I bought both my wedding dress and my reception dress from Elizabeth Johns and I’m very glad I did.

So happy I said yes to the dress at Elizabeth johns. The dress was great quality! The experience was awesome. Loved Linds Vielhauer she made me feel so comfortably and bridal! Looking forward to my fitting! Can’t wait for my dress to come in!
