About

"GYPSY IN THE SOUL"

The Gadjo Gypsies are a premiere act in the style of Gypsy jazz. Evoking the spirit of the jazz age in Paris where the likes of Josephine Baker and Louis Armstrong were major figures, The Gadjo Gypsies emulate the famous Quintette du Hot Club de France. The Hot Club de France was highly acclaimed as Europe’s answer to jazz with the virtuosic Stephane Grapelli on violin and the enigmatic Gypsy genius, Django Reinhardt on guitar. In the same vein as the Hot Club, the Gadjo Gypsies perform a mix of American swing, Gypsy and French musette songs with a jazz flair and nuances of European and Gypsy flavor. Instrumentation: Yusuf Kilgore- guitar; Bryan Thurber- violin; Josh Rust- guitar; Jeff Gray- double bass. The Gadjo Gypsies are driven by improvisation and swing hard through their arrangements.

The Gadjo Gypsies’ past performances include Concert settings, Clubs, private parties, weddings and multiple festivals throughout the western Washington region to include: Anacortes Jazz Festival, Bellingham Concerts in the Parks, Edmonds Art Festival, Linuxfest NW, The Anacortes Library- Jazz at the Library series, Astoria Crab and Seafood Festival, Anacortes Jazz Walk, Lummi Island Chili Cook-Off, Skagit Valley College Foundation Gala Auction and the museum of radio and electricity to name a few.

The Gadjo Gypsies are absolutely wonderful and I can not recommend them enough! I coordinated with Jeff for my big day and he was professional, communicative and very attentive. The band arrived promptly on our special day and played for the entire occasion (aside from the necessary break here and there for toasts and what not). The music was fantastic! Our guests continued to let us know throughout the occasion how much they were enjoying the Gadjo Gypsies! Thank you guys! You really helped make our day so special!

The Gadjo Gypsies set the tone for our wedding celebration. They had everyone tapping their toes. The guys and their music are fun! Rusty was responsive and offered many helpful suggestions when we asked questions. The volume was not overpowering. Call these guys!!

We first heard the Gadjo Gypsies play at the wedding expo in January of 2010. We really liked their sound and all of us thought they would be a perfect addition to the mansion where we were having the wedding and the vintage type feel I was going for. The band and I exchanged several emails over the course of the planning phases. They were very open to my ideas and suggestions for the play list. They showed up on time the day of my wedding and were flexible with the space and brought all of their own equipment. Everyone I talked to that night told me that they were very impressed with our band and thought that the music was just right for our venue. They were present without being obtrusive or a distraction. I would highly recommend the Gypsies to anyone who would like to plan a wedding with a vintage or sophisticated flair.
