About

Located in the beautiful County of Bath in Virginia’s Western Highlands, Mont Shenandoah is an historic property offering a unique setting for a destination mountain wedding weekend. The tree-filled green space alongside the fresh waters of the Cowpasture River is just one of many outdoor spaces that provide a natural backdrop for a gorgeous ceremony. There is ample space for an outdoor cocktail hour, perhaps on a high bluff overlooking the river, or a seated dinner under a tent or in our quaint dining hall called The Feedbag. Guests can enjoy music and dancing in West Lodge, our Adirondack-style, board and batten recreational hall. Lodging is available on site in traditional camp cabins and a few climate controlled buildings with modern amenities, so that guests can take advantage of the grounds and river throughout their stay. Mont Shenandoah, a well-loved camp for girls during the summer months, is the idyllic mountain hideaway for a couple to share their wedding celebration with family and friends. Come for the day. Better yet, come for the weekend. We are closer than you think but far enough away to make a difference.

Camp Mont Shenandoah was the first place that we checked out when we were looking for wedding venues, and after walking the grounds we didn’t look at any others.

It was very important to us to find a place where we could have friends and family spend an overnight together—so often weddings fly by and we wanted the opportunity to maximize the time we spend with those that are important to us—and the cabins at Camp Mont provided just the rustic, summer camp experience that we wanted to share. In addition, we chose to rent the beautiful Cabell Cottage and the Pill Box to provide us with accommodations that had large beds and air conditioning for the families of the bride and groom and those who came with young children.

Everyone at the camp was wonderful to work with and we felt at home while we were there. We chose to have the camp itself do the catering and they provided a number of delicious dinner options, a brunch the next morning, and even a hot dog lunch for everyone on the second day after spending the morning and early afternoon hanging around camp and down by the river.

The venue was beautiful—we got married in a green grove by the river—the dinner was cozy in the Feed Bag, and the dancing was a blast in the West Lodge. We got lucky with the forecast, but with the covered space in the West Lodge we did have a back-up plan just in case.

To say that the weekend was perfect would be an understatement. We have continued to get positive feedback from friends and family and have heard over and over that it was, “the best wedding!” If you are looking for an outdoor venue or a place to do an overnight experience, Camp Mont Shenandoah is a wonderful place to do so.

The most magical wedding reception!

We were lucky enough to host our wedding reception at Mont Shenandoah and had the most wonderful time! We had a large tent on the lawn for dinner and then dancing in the lodge. The venue was perfect for pictures - my husband and I were even able to sneak down to the waterfront with the photographer and those pictures are stunning! Cocktail hour and dinner under the tent worked out fabulously and I loved having the view of the mountains in the distance! I have to saying the highlight (we still get compliments on all the time) was the dancing in the lodge. As my father says, the lodge has "good bones" and having the band up on the stage was amazing for acoustics and allowing people to see and interact with them! The next morning we had a beautiful brunch in the dining hall catered by the Mont Shenandoah cook and it was simply delicious. The perfect ending to the most magical weekend, couldn't have dreamed of my wedding anywhere else!

Beautiful setting for our fall wedding

It was a beautiful setting with lots of trees by the river, the parking was plenty but the walk to the ceremony was a trip so a tractor and wagon were used to haul guests. The reception hall was perfect with a stage and large dance floor and plenty of room for round tables. Overall a wonderful place!
