About

The Nebula Brass Quintet (NBQ) is deeply rooted within prestigious education and experience. The group first met 5 years ago in Boston Massachusetts.

Earl Powers (Horn) was once the Principal French Horn for the Navy Premier Band in Washington D.C serving for 10 Honorable years. He is currently the Principal Horn for the 215th Army Band of Massachusetts. He holds a Masters degree from Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.

Andy Koskela (Trumpet) served 13 years in the Army Band, and furthered his musical expertise by earning his Bachelors from Berklee College of Music in 2013, studying with Charlie Lewis of the Empire Brass. Andy is sought out as a prominent professional trumpet player throughout New England.

Caroline Cole is an amazing trapeze, tight wire, and circus artist, and an even better trombonist. She holds her Masters in Music from Boston Conservatory. She is also the Principal Trombonist for the 215th "Governor's own" Army Band of Massachusetts.

Samuel Costa is a "Jack of all trades" music educator with over 10 years of experience in Music Education. He will graduate with his Masters in Music Education from Kent State University this spring. Sammy is the Principal Trumpet for the 215th "Governor's own" Army Band and the band director for Dighton Rehoboth Regional School District.

Rob Needs is the Nebula Brass Quintet arranger and Tuba Player. He has been the Principal Tuba player for the 215th Army Band for over 30 years. He picked up the tuba in the 3rd grade and was hooked. He also plays the french horn, trumpet, and the electric bass guitar.

From the moment the Nebula Brass Quintet played their first note together they knew that they had something special. It is a rarity to find such a connection within quintets. It was astronomical fate that united the group, and a star of a quintet was born. We are The Nebula Brass Quintet, and it is our pleasure to share our love of music with you.
