The Newell Lodge & Resort has an expansive property featuring a gazebo perfect for wedding receptions, cabins for guest lodging, and stables for their horses. Other facilities that can be rented for special events include the Mainstage and the Pavilion. This family friendly resort includes a dude ranch for guests to experience the Okefenokee region on horseback. The dude ranch offers trail rides, enrichment programs for children, hayrides, and campfires for all to enjoy. At the Newell Lodge & Resort, there is an activity for everyone. History
The Newell Lodge & Resort began as a ranch dating back to the 16th century. This venue has been exclusively family owned and operated since it’s beginnings. The Carter family lived off the land by riding horses, fishing in nearby streams and go hunting throughout the pinewoods. The knowledge of horsemanship was passed down through the generations of the Carter family and today, this family still cares for and manages the ranch.
