About Oakes Ames Memorial Hall

Oakes Ames Memorial Hall is a historic wedding venue located in North Easton, Massachusetts. It was established in the late 1881 by Oakes Ames' children as a memorial to their father. They had commissioned Henry Hobson Richardson, a great American architect, to design and oversee the build. Richardson kept in line with the romantic aesthetic of his other works, one of which is notably the Trinity Church in Copley Square, Boston. These inspired design elements are found throughout and include beautifully rounded arches, sloped and dramatic rooflines, as well as abundant masonry that integrates medieval-style carvings that are a feast for the eye. Situated on a granite outcropping, the structure demands agency over its surroundings, drawing in guests to be inspired by its grandeur and elegance. The landscape around the venue is designed by the well-renowned architect F.L. Olmsted, the talented mind behind New York's Central Park. Reflecting the opulence of four other Richardson buildings in the town of Easton, Oakes Ames Memorial Hall is nestled into a National Historic Landmark District.
