About

Rabbi Mike Mymon is a Jewish wedding officiant based in Lake Forest, California. Rabbi Mike believes in the unique beauty and wisdom of Jewish traditions and enjoys teaching couples about its purpose. He always speaks to his clients from a place of non-judgment, giving them the freedom to decide which elements work best for their wedding day.

Services Offered

Rabbi Mike Mymon organizes meetings with couples to prepare for their pre-ceremony, marriage, and post-ceremony traditions. Conveniently, Rabbi Mike can arrange these meetings via Zoom or in person. He will talk through every detail with you and select the customs that best suit and fit the needs of each couple. Rabbi Mike believes that this is important to ensure that the ceremony remains unique to the couple while also honoring the elements of a Jewish ceremony. In addition, he is happy to officiate religious, non-religious, and interfaith ceremonies. Couples are more than welcome to blend the practices of both faiths so that they can be equally incorporated into the ceremony.

Very personable Rabbi & very patient

Rabbi Mike was patient with us and answered all our questions regarding our wedding. He had a very pleasant aura and a great deal of knowledge regarding Jewish traditions. The thing I appreciated about Rabbi Mike is he reasoned out all the Jewish laws regarding marriage and provided a logical explanation (hence we could relate to it).

Amazing rabbi !

I probably searched through about 10 rabbis before I found Mike and I am delighted that I did find him. Our specific family is not traditional and can be considered “modern”, and because of this a lot of rabbis were just not the right fit. I didn’t really get an amazing vibe from anyone else that I spoke to . After speaking to Mike just once I knew that he was the right match for our family. He was patient kind and listened to our requests , requirements and vision. He also brought things up that we never thought of that were really important and ended up making the ceremony beautiful. After a few zoom calls, the big day arrived and the ceremony was even more beautiful than I thought. Specifically because of his leadership , and funny , kind and warm anecdotes. I would definitely recommend him to anyone, and I have probably been to about 10 other Jewish weddings and would say that he is the best rabbi that I have come across.

Born in the State of Israel, I studied electronics and sciences in high school, but the desire I had since age 15, to study aerospace engineering – something that was not offered by Israeli universities in the early 80’s - refused to be extinguished. Following my military service with the Israel Defense Forces’ paratroopers, I came to the U.S. to study aerospace engineering.

Upon completing my education, I began a career in the aerospace industry. Five years later, I became a father of two children. While involved in a family life, as well as a very busy employment as an aerospace scientist, the possibility of fulfilling a second life-long passion of becoming a Rabbi remained “on the back burner” - but never forgotten.

I've attended services in a synagogue regularly my entire life. Over the years, I was involved in various facets of the synagogues, including serving on the boards, teaching classes (Introduction to Judaism, Hebrew Reading, etc.), reading Torah and leading services, including delivering sermons while the Rabbis were on vacation or out of town.

Presently, Shelly and I are married and live in Lake Forest. In my 50’s, while retired from active employment, the opportunity to rekindle a life-long passion of becoming a Rabbi became a reality. After a life-long study of the myriad aspects of Judaism, I enrolled in the rabbinic program of the Jewish Spiritual Leaders Institute in New York City where I was ordained a Rabbi.

I believe Judaism has wonderful traditions that should be available to anyone who wants to embrace its unique wisdom and beauty. This is the aspect of Judaism I will most definitely bring to our relationship. No matter in what way we come together and for what purpose, I will try to offer you as much learning as possible, from a place of non-judgment, about various Jewish traditions so that you can decide what works for you and what doesn't.
