Born in the State of Israel, I studied electronics and sciences in high school, but the desire I had since age 15, to study aerospace engineering – something that was not offered by Israeli universities in the early 80’s - refused to be extinguished. Following my military service with the Israel Defense Forces’ paratroopers, I came to the U.S. to study aerospace engineering.
Upon completing my education, I began a career in the aerospace industry. Five years later, I became a father of two children. While involved in a family life, as well as a very busy employment as an aerospace scientist, the possibility of fulfilling a second life-long passion of becoming a Rabbi remained “on the back burner” - but never forgotten.
I've attended services in a synagogue regularly my entire life. Over the years, I was involved in various facets of the synagogues, including serving on the boards, teaching classes (Introduction to Judaism, Hebrew Reading, etc.), reading Torah and leading services, including delivering sermons while the Rabbis were on vacation or out of town.
Presently, Shelly and I are married and live in Lake Forest. In my 50’s, while retired from active employment, the opportunity to rekindle a life-long passion of becoming a Rabbi became a reality. After a life-long study of the myriad aspects of Judaism, I enrolled in the rabbinic program of the Jewish Spiritual Leaders Institute in New York City where I was ordained a Rabbi.
I believe Judaism has wonderful traditions that should be available to anyone who wants to embrace its unique wisdom and beauty. This is the aspect of Judaism I will most definitely bring to our relationship. No matter in what way we come together and for what purpose, I will try to offer you as much learning as possible, from a place of non-judgment, about various Jewish traditions so that you can decide what works for you and what doesn't.
