As we all know, 2020 hasn’t been going according to plan for many of us 2020 couples. My fiancé and I planned to get married surrounded by 170 family members and close friends before moving from Pennsylvania to Minnesota, where we both would be beginning new jobs. Like most COVID couples, our original plans for our early June wedding slowly over the course of the spring began to become less and less feasible, causing lots of stress, disappointments, and true sadness. What made it even more difficult was how to not feel selfish or alone in the situation, because COVID was clearly impacting so many other people around the world in various ways, many worse than having to postpone or cancel a wedding. Shellie checked up on us and me periodically to ensure that we were doing okay and provided as much virtual support as she possibly could have. She reached out to me right away when our local government announced that we would not be opening before our wedding date and began brainstorming with us. If it wasn’t for her calmness, positivity, and true gift for planning events, I don’t know what we would have done! She walked us through rescheduling our 6/6/2020 wedding to 6/5/2021 and in one month, she put together and organized our petite wedding that was still held on our original date. To say the day was better than we could have ever imagined is an understatement! It was perfect, special, and unique in every way and that is all thanks to Shellie! My fiancé and I originally planned that we were just going to do something quick in our parent’s backyard, but Shellie had a greater vision for us and it was really important to her that 6/6/2020 still remain the beautiful once in a lifetime day that we had been looking forward to for so long! She found us a new location (Lock Ridge Park in Alburtis, PA), organized the romantic, social- distanced décor, found us an amazing soloist, ordered our cake, and coordinated the timeline with everyone involved. We performed our self-uniting ceremony under the June sunset, surrounded by our parents, siblings, and grandparents (who were socially distanced in rings of rose petals). It was truly magical, filled with smiles, tears, and so much love! At the end of the day that’s what it is all about right?! We really cannot thank Shellie enough for taking our COVID lemons and helping us turn them into delicious lemonade! She took what was going to be such a sad day for us and turned it into the best day of our lives, one that we will be talking about forever! As much as we are looking forward to our rescheduled, larger event that Shellie has also been planning with us since 2018, we will always look at 6/6/2020 as our unforgettable wedding day!
