History

San Salvatore Castle was erected between the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, becoming the family home of the Collalto family. The hamlet hosted farmers and craftsmen, helping the settlement thrive for many years. The power of the Collalto family was exercised for generations, ruling the lands with unquestionable authority. During the Middle Ages, San Salvatore Castle blossomed with the arts, providing a stage for many musicians, poets, painters, and writers. In 1599, the Tournament of the Barrier took place within the castle's fabled walls, embedding it into history and boosting its fame. In 1762, young Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart held his first concert at the Collalto Palace, placing further importance on the family and their domain. In the twentieth century, the First World War saw the destruction of the castle. Restorations took place, prompting the reopening of the grounds in 2003. Today, San Salvatore Castle can be enjoyed by visitors near and far as it exuding all the grandeur that centuries of history has bestowed upon the property. Princess Isabella Collalto is looking forward to welcoming you with all honours.
