About

Experience the quiet ambience of the historic Community House in the picturesque town of Hamilton. In 1921, the Mandell family of Hamilton commissioned architect Guy Lowell to design a building in memory of the eight men from the two towns who gave their lives during WWI. Lowell is most recognized for his design of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts building on Huntington Avenue and the New York State Supreme Court building.

Ballroom ~ Designed in the style of a 1920s ballroom, this room features wonderful architectural details, hardwood floor, stage with baby grand piano, and Palladium doors to the outside portico. The Main Hall adjoins the intimate Library. This space along with the Library accommodates 120 guests for seated dining or 160 guests for a cocktail reception.

Library ~ An intimate, oak-paneled room with working fireplace. The library is furnished with Mandell family pieces.

Conference room ~ Located on the lower level, this room was once a four lane bowling alley. Today it is a bright, modern space with skylights, couch, tv, kitchenette, and access to a city garden.

The grounds may be tented for larger events.

The Community House provides dining tables, gold chavari chairs, banquet tables, sweetheart table, and a cake table.

The Community House is handicap accessible and fully air-conditioned.

Ok, let me start by saying our INITIAL wedding reception location was sold two weeks before our wedding. It left my hubby and I scrambling for another option. Our caterer found that the hamilton wenham community house was available on our date and willing to accept our wedding. It was only pure luck that we had looked at this hall the year before when initially looking at venues.

having said all that, we have no regrets. We were very blessed that The Community House of Hamilton & Wenham accepted us. Carolyn, was very accomodating and compassionate given our situation. The hall was beautiful.

The only negative to this location is that you have to use their bartender service who is a bit pricey. Its not a bad trade for such an amazing looking hall.

The Community House was the perfect location for my wedding. We had under 100 guests, and the space was just perfect! We had just the right amount of space, between the ballroom, library, and beautifully quaint outdoor area. The price was very reasonable, and it was nice to know that the money I spent on my rental went back into the community (rather than into the pockets of a larger hotel or other corporation).
