About

The Garden at Elm Bank at the Massachusetts Horticultural Society is a historical venue located in Wellesley, Massachusetts. Couples will be surrounded by twelve different gardens on 36 lush acres. You can have a beautiful outdoor ceremony and then dance the night away in their restored carriage house. The Gardens at Elm Bank offers guests the chance to enjoy architectural gems, fields, forests and amazing gardens just 30 minutes from Boston.

Facilities and Capacity
Our unique and stunning property can accommodate weddings and celebrations up to 400 guests. You can exchange vows in the formal and romantic Italianate Garden surrounded by the flowers of the season. Then you can move to the whimsical Children's Garden while enjoying cocktails. Finally, you can finish the night at the elegant Hunnewell Building which was once the carriage house for the former Cheney-Baltzell estate. It includes 3,000 square feet of event space adorned with a vaulted and trussed ceiling.

A beautiful venue with everything for a multipart event

This venue was gorgeous and had everything we needed for an outdoor garden ring ceremony, outdoor cocktail hour, indoor seated dinner and dancing. The dancing tent was attached to the dining room, which meant guests could easily go dance, or they could sit and chat and not be blasted by music. The staff were wonderful and very considerate and helped with a few things we'd forgotten (like having a person to prompt bridesmaids / groomsmen to come out and walk down the aisle). There was also a soccer tournament on the field complex next to the venue the weekend of our wedding. Elm Bank let us know before booking, and there's a huge hedge up in between them and sound was not an issue at all. Our ring ceremony with solo harp was in the garden closest to the fields and even when games were actively going we couldn't hear a thing. I would highly recommend!

Amazing experience at Elm Bank

We got married on October 13th at the Garden at Elm Bank and we could not have been happier with our experience! The wedding was absolutely beautiful and we were able to utilize so many different parts of the grounds. Our ceremony took place by the water fountain in the Italianate garden, we had our cake cutting in front of the adorable green house, and our reception followed in the beautiful Hunnewell building. I was looking for a venue that could give an ‘enchanted garden’ vibe and this location could not have been any more perfect! We had a fairly short engagement of under a year, and the team at Elm Bank was incredible- we worked with both Kayleigh and Chelsey and they were both amazing- very friendly, responsive, and receptive to all of our ideas. Chelsey met with us one several occasions before our wedding and was there for the walk through with our caterer to help provide her expertise and ensure that everything went smoothly. They helped turn our wedding vision into the wedding of our dreams and we couldn’t be more thankful. We would highly recommend Elm Bank to anyone searching for the perfect wedding venue!

The Garden at Elm Bank

From the moment we arrived at the Garden at Elm Bank, we knew this would be the perfect wedding venue for us. The grounds are absolutely beautiful with several unique gardens. We connected with Kayleigh who shared all the details with us and quickly helped us secure our wedding date. We ultimately ended up working with Chelsey as our primary contact person. Chelsey is professional and very quick to respond! The rest of the Elm Bank staff (Nora and Asia) were extremely helpful on the day of our wedding. It unfortunately poured during our September wedding, but Asia and Nora were quick to direct all of the vendors to set up inside and drove us around in a golf cart so we wouldn't get wet. We had 170 guests and it was obvious that Elm Bank accommodates larger weddings all the time. My husband and I did not have to think about anything during our reception-- all details were taken care of. I highly recommend Elm Bank to anyone who is seeking out a garden wedding (even if it rains!).

This summer I had the pleasure of photographing a wedding for one of my couples, they chose The Gardens at Elm Bank as their ceremony location. What a gorgeous setting! It was a stunning place to tie the knot, everything was coordinated beautifully to perfection. Even in the 95 degree heat it still was a perfect setting for an outdoor ceremony. Even though the heat deterred us from using the gardens to the fullest for photography, the shade of the estate provided a great spot for family photos and some bridal portraits. I'm looking forward to photographing at The Gardens at Elm Bank again in the future!
