The Glen Venue's Mathis House is situated on 10 acres of land and surrounded by lush flora and fauna indicative of northeast Florida. The spacious grounds offer several wedding ceremony locations which include the Arbor in the Glade, the Citrus Grove Gazebo, or The Century Tree. Guests can enjoy dinner and cocktails under the stars or in a rented tent. The Mathis House also provides two get-ready suites, a large island kitchen, and screened back porch. Other indoor spaces can accommodate small gatherings such as engagement parties, wedding showers, or rehearsal dinners. The large deck is perfect for dancing and celebrating special occasions. This venue also offers the nearby Honeymoon Cabin nestled on the edge of the woods. Newlywed couples are invited to relax and enjoy this cozy cabin after a full wedding day.

The Mathis House base fee includes tables, ample parking, wheelchair-accessible facilities, and reception clean-up. Outside vendors are welcome to assist you with your ceremony and reception needs. The Taber family, proprietors of the property, are available to assist you in creating the day of your dreams from the very beginning of your planning to the day of your wedding.

History

In 1882 at the young age of 27, George L. Taber Sr. settled in Glen St. Mary, Florida, and began cultivating fruit trees. By the early 1900's Glen St. Mary Nursery was a major contributor in Florida's citrus and nursery stock industry, including the development of the George L. Taber azalea. Today Glen St. Mary Nursery is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as it continues the family-owned wholesale nursery business. Five generations of the Taber family call The Glen home and invite you to experience this rich heritage of family and Southern hospitality.
