About The Opal Grand Forks

The Opal Grand Forks is a wedding banquet hall that is located in Grand Forks, North Dakota. This stunning establishment features elegant decor and refurbished hardwood floors that come from historic origins. The Opal Grand Forks was originally Simonson's Lumber warehouse. Furthering the historic significance of the building, the name is derived from Opal Kunz, an accomplished female pioneer in the aviation industry. Opal had received her pilot license in 1929, and in 1930 she won a flying competition against a group of male pilots. Some of her achievements include the organizing of the Betsy Ross Air Corps and becoming a chartered member of the woman's pilot organization, the Ninety-Nines.

Facilities and Capacity

The Opal Grand Forks is able to accommodate 325 guests as a seated banquet and 600 at a standing occasion. The head table will be placed in front of a stunning marble wall, creating an ideal focus in the front of the room. Venue rental includes tables and chairs, as well as the use of their outdoor patio space. The indoor hall boasts rustic elements such as a wood floor and exposed beams. The large, open windows allow light to pour in, highlighting the entire space in a welcoming and ethereal glow.

Services Offered

The Opal Grand Forks provides a variety of items that help to bring any wedding event together. This includes floor-length tablecloths, cocktail tables, and more. Catering and bartending services are provided by their partnered providers, Sky's Fine Dining and Cloud 9 Lounge. With them, couples are able to choose from either plated meals or buffet options.

Location

The Opal Grand Forks is located just down the road from Saint Anne's monument, the Red River that divides North Dakota and Minnesota, and U.S. Highway 2. Parks and overnight accommodation are nearby, providing easy solutions for recreation and sleeping arrangements. Winnipeg is a short drive north, across the Canadian border, and Minneapolis is a brief trip to the southeast.
