About

On WeddingWire since 2018

The Rubi House is a wedding and event venue in Tucson, Arizona. It's a family owned business located in the heart of the historic downtown Tucson. The two-story Italianate Victorian revival-style manor was built in 1903 and combines an intimate venue space with lodging for friends and family. It's a stylish, sophisticated venue with a modern minimalist approach.

Facilities and Capacity

The Rubi House can accommodate 125 guests for events. The indoor space is flexible and extends out to the fenced courtyard and multi-functional coach house. The setup allows for various layout and flow options. It features a full kitchen for guests and caterers. The venue offers a bridal suite with ceiling high mirrors, natural light, and a view of the downtown skyline. It also has a gentlemen's lounge that features a fireplace and comfortable furniture, located downstairs, separate from the upstairs bridal suite. The Rubi House can also provide lodging for 16 guests. Additional guests can use the AC Marriott Hotel, just one block away.

Services Offered

This venue can host a range of wedding-related events, including engagement parties, showers, elopements, rehearsal dinners, ceremonies, and receptions. The Rubi House does not require the use of preferred vendors, but it can provide recommendations for your special day. The helpful staff strives to ensure that your planning process is easy and as stress free as possible.

History

The Rubi House was built for Owen Rouse and his family when Arizona was still a territory. Owen was an attorney that went on to serve as a Missouri senator before settling in Arizona in 1885. He then served as an Arizona territorial district attorney and associate justice of the U.S. district court. Both positions were appointed by President Grover Cleveland. The home was later owned and renovated by Pete Rubi, a Prima County Supervisor and Justice of the Peace. After Pete passed, the home was purchased by Tom and Susan Cassidy, who continued renovations and converted it into an art gallery. The property was recently acquired by brothers, Colin Reilly and Rob Reilly, who are eager to share this property for your special occasion.

The Rubi is a STUNNING Venue

We got married in May 2022 at the Rubi House and could not be happier! The venue was absolutely perfect! We were able to reserve the venue for both the rehearsal dinner and wedding, which relieved so much stress. We were also able to stay at the house with our wedding party, so we didn't need to worry about anyone running late.
Our favorite part about the Rubi was that it allowed us to create our vision and we couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. We had the opportunity to work with both Tana and Melissa, and both were incredibly helpful! We also worked with Liz from Confetti Event Planning. Everyone was able to help us create our dream wedding and we are so appreciative! I highly recommend this venue for any couple that is looking to have a unique and personal wedding!
(I wish I had pictures from the inside because it is equally as beautiful!)

Most romantic venue

I wanted the Rubi for it's Victorian charm but fell in love with their wedding planner Melissa Matriss. She made me feel like I wasn't alone in the planning and took so much weight off my shoulders. Melissa went above and beyond until she finally got through to my fave restaurant for catering, and it was perfect! The house is gorgeous, the stairwell and cake table make for perfect photographs, and the bar/carriage house has a stunning tin ceiling. We did stay the night and there were plenty of accommodations for the whole family, kids, and even friends. It was the most romantic venue.

Above and beyond

The Rubi has the most beautiful bridal suite in all of Tucson, possibly even Arizona! The natural light, feminine features, and open space allow for comfort and fun. It was such a relief to be able to stay the night because we had all of our necessary belongings at an arms reach and our guests were able to relax once the formal events were complete. The venue itself requires little decoration due to its natural beauty. We cannot say enough about the Rubi and its wonderful owners who went above and beyond to make our special day perfect.
