History

The University Club was formed by William Thomas (Harvard, Class of 1873), former president of the San Francisco Harvard Club. On August 8, 1890, California’s Secretary of State William C. Henricks signed the necessary documents and The University Club became a legal entity. The first clubhouse was a two-story Victorian building until the club was moved to its current location.
