About

The Torrance Cultural Arts Center is a flexible, modern wedding venue located in Torrance, California, right in the heart of the South Bay. They’ve created a complex that combines modern design and natural beauty, offering both indoor and outdoor event spaces to couples. From the Japanese garden, to the banquet rooms, to the outdoor plazas, couples have a variety of options to host their ceremony, reception, or elopement, as well as bridal showers, engagement parties, and rehearsal dinners, at the pet-friendly facility.

Facilities and Capacity
Depending on their event and the size of their guest list, couples can invite up to 350 people to celebrate their special event at The Torrance Cultural Arts Center. One of the most beautiful locations is the Pine Wind Japanese Garden, which was designed by Takeo Uesugi to reflect authentic Japanese landscaping and architecture. The garden features two waterfalls, a koi pond, and stone pathways, as well as a two-tiered amphitheater and room for additional chairs to seat up to 60 people. Overlooking the garden are the Garden Rooms, which can seat 55 guests. The George Nakano Theater is a versatile space that can be arranged to accommodate a wide range of group sizes and events through its four sets of retractable velour drapes. With seating for up to 180, the space boasts acoustically tempered ceilings and a full lighting grid. The Ken Miller Recreation Center is a 3,100-square-foot auditorium with built-in stage. Up to 180 people may be seated in the center at a time, or if dancing space is preferred, couples can invite up to 325 guests. Adjacent to the center is the Assembly Room, featuring hardwood floors and room for 100 seated guests. The largest indoors space is the Toyota Meeting Hall, a premier site for up to 250 guests for dining and dancing, featuring portable stages, dimmable lighting, projection screen, and professional catering kitchen. The Torino Festival Plaza is a 14,000-square-foot open air, outdoor space boasting an elevated concrete stage, room for 350 people, and two light towers.

Services Offered
The Torrance Cultural Arts Center is covered by liability insurance for their events, and offers the use of their event planner to assist couples in the preparation for their occasion. Event staff can be on site to help with set up and clean up, as well as show guests where to park and access the wheelchair ramps to the designated spaces. The venue has catering kitchens that offer caterers areas to prep and store cuisine and drinks, while wedding parties may use the get-ready rooms to prepare for the wedding. While The Torrance Cultural Arts Center doesn’t house its own catering department, they invite couples to bring their own outside vendors to assist with their event.

Torrance Cultural Arts Center was responsive and a pretty good value. We reserved the Toyota Meeting Hall, Torino Plaza and the Japanese garden. The garden was reserved for 2 hours for our photos, unfortunately, TCAC was not able to provide us the privacy which had been promised. This made our photo shoot a bit longer than it should have been because our photographers had to ask people to remove themselves from the area. Nevertheless, TCAC was quick to recognize their mistake and provided a refund for this reservation. Despite this incident, they were very easy to work with and willing to provide a little extra equipment for set up at the Torino Plaza. Overall, we had a pleasant experience with them.

The venue itself is an amazingly beautiful area (Garden Area), if you choose your reception to be on property you will only have access to a kitchen but in one of the halls on property. The staff was very unprofessional, and I'll prepared. First they left a huge lift in our reception space that took up space we paid for and needed, secondly they scheduled a wedding ceremony an hour before ours in the same area we rented for our ceremony and pictures. They will charge you for a coordinator but you will have have an actual coordinator just some volunteer who is suppose to unlock and lock the doors. If you do book here make sure they have no prior ceremony ahead or after yours, and you'll probably want to make your own signs for the garden area to say "Private Event" if not you'll have random people literally walking through your wedding ceremony and pictures, as well as your reception if you choose to have it on property.
