Twin Lakes Wedding and Event Center
It all started when…
Never in my wildest dreams did I think that my idea, of a wedding and event venue, would take off as it has.
Thirty years ago, we built our first home on our farm; the farm that had been in my husbands’ family for many years. My husband’s father passed away when he was 8 years old and his dream was to follow in his dad’s footsteps. We raised two of our three children on this farm, so calm and relaxed, allowing them the freedom and tranquility of a country life. Where sunsets are so breathtaking and the peacefulness is amazing.

“The best thing to hold onto in life is each other.” - Audrey Hepburn Photography by deborahfaithphotography.com
A few years ago, we thought we should move out of the small town of Ropesville. After 12 years, we decided that, for convenience, to move to the big city of Lubbock. We didn’t realize how busy it would be and the noise - oh my! After two years of city life with my husband traveling back and forth with planting and stripping cotton, the country life called us back home.
You can take the person out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the person.
So, we built a home in the middle of a grown-up pasture where our roots first started. That’s when I began to toy with the idea of something I had thought about for years, a wedding venue. We had one child still in school, so we were still very busy with farming and school activities but then the day came when our youngest son graduated, and we were part of the empty nesters. It was then that I knew what I was going to do. We talked to builders, landscapers, and concrete companies. We drew my dream on paper and then it happened; our venue was then in action. As we watched it grow and was finally finished, it was time to open our doors.

I always knew my love for helping people achieve their dreams was becoming a reality when a friend of mine, whose daughter was getting married, came and saw our land before it was built. She knew her dreams had been answered and could see our vision; we then booked our first wedding. We opened Twin Lakes of March 2018 and since then, we have gotten to know so many wonderful couples and their families as they become apart of our family. Somehow, we have had a connection with each couple that has booked a wedding by either knowing my children, friends of friends, or a family from years past.
This was God’s plan and we thank him and are truly blessed for what he has provided.
Hello, everyone!
I’m Brittney and I’m now a team member of Twin Lakes!
I love meeting new people and getting to know their stories, so here is just a little snippet of my own story. I graduated with my Master’s in Healthcare Administration two years ago and after working for UMCP for four years, I have decided to start working for my mom here at Twin Lakes. There are a million different reasons as to why I made this life-changing choice; but the first reason is the joy of my life, who entered this world back in February of 2021. Her name is Bryer Layne and she is my first baby!
She has made such a big impact in my life. Now with working for my mom, I can spend more time with her and be able to watch her grow up! “And though she be but little, she is fierce.” I also decided to come work at Twin Lakes because I enjoy helping people on one of the most important days of their life AND I get to see the joy that then enters their life, as well.
Hi everyone, my name is Dorothy I’m a team member at Twin Lakes!
I love hearing your stories so here is a little about me. I am now retired and loving it. I worked at a hospital for 20 years, then at a daycare for 4 years. I have now joined my daughter at Twin Lakes. I help with the daily tasks that are needed to make sure the Bride and Groom have a carefree wonderful wedding.
I also enjoy wedding day seeing their smiling faces as I handout beverages like lemonade in summer & hot chocolate in winter. I have two amazing children one amazing son in love, three wonderful grandchildren and two grandchildren in love and the newest member of our family our pride and joy my first great granddaughter Bryer Layne.
