Great New Venue in Charleston!

John at Union Station could not have been better to work with! From the first day we saw the space I knew this blank canvas would be the perfect backdrop. He was so accommodating on bar choices and his staff was SO professional. He also was great to provide advice as well as flexible on vendors and adding greenery to the space.

This space is spectacular for all climates and puts your mind at ease for weather precautions. We had 200+ guests, band, and plenty of seating options and the space felt perfectly filled! John also let us hang lights and greenery from the trusses to make the space intimate. I cannot recommend John or his beautiful space any more! Thank you again!!

Union Station made our wedding feel like a dream!

My wife and I were on the hunt for a venue much more unique than the common "Southern rustic" style wedding most opt for in Charleston. One night after dinner, we decided to walk over to one of Shepard Fairey's murals (one of my wife's favorite artists) which was in the same parking lot as Union Station. We peeked through the windows and felt the venue had such art installation vibes (huge bonus for my art teacher wife), which would allow us to fill the space with our own style. It was a hidden gem we were so fortunate to come across and instantly knew this is where we wanted our wedding.

Things to highlight: Union Station is a huge space with large ball lantern-style lights (included!) and an awesome bar setup. The big windows and huge garage door made natural light come through beautifully. It's especially cool at night to see the surrounding murals on the other buildings that can be viewed through these windows. There's also a great bridal suite space upstairs that made it easy for us to get ready. Not to mention tables and high-end chairs are included with the venue! The venue's bar service was also top-notch and super accommodating to our guests.

What was also huge plus for us is that the venue is located right off King Street which made it super accessible for our wedding guests who stayed right down the block at the Hyatt House and could be near all of the popular downtown bars. Having a venue on King Street at a reasonable price was something we didn't think would have been possible with our budget. Oh, and on-site parking in DOWNTOWN CHARLESTON! Huge bonus.

I have to give a BIG shoutout to John at Union Station. Working with him was incredibly easy and comforting. John made the entire planning process so smooth and stressless. He was very responsive to any questions I had while getting things geared up before the big day. Any time I had to swing by the venue, he always made it work. The guy puts in the work at that place and it shows!

Most importantly, this is a very LGBTQ+ friendly venue. I specifically wanted to hire vendors who supported the community we are a part of and we could trust. It was an easy choice with Union Station who made us feel celebrated and welcomed.

Having our wedding at Union Station was an absolute dream and I can't recommend them enough!

Union Station

Union station is THE BEST Charleston venue. The staff is extremely nice to work with and the actual venue is beautiful. It’s an awesome place to have any of event with a specific decoration vision. Out of all the vendors I had to coordinate for my wedding, Union station was the easiest and honestly my favorite to work with. The price and what’s included is extremely reasonable for Charleston. If you’re thinking about Union station, do it!!!

Union Station is a special place for John. It's named for the beautiful Union Station that stood in his hometown, Portland, Maine, and is the place where his grandfather served as station master for many years. Though not standing anymore, the original Portland Union Station serves as the inspiration and spirit behind the company motto: All are welcome! John believes in the power of an event to help memorialize a special moment by bringing those closest to you together and is dedicated to making your wedding day a memorable and joyous celebration.

A Maine native, John lived in New Orleans and New York City before settling in Charleston. He has been here for 8 years now and is proud to call the Holy City home. His dogs Jessie and Bean are the apples of his eye. If you ask, he'll show you thousands of pictures of them, and ask you about yours!

Summer Jones has helped conceive Union Station, since 2019 and acts as House Manager and Event Director. She is a dreamer, a problem solver and an entrepreneur at heart. Summer graduated from the College of Charleston, in 1999 with a degree in Arts Management with a focus on logistics of large scale event management. Her work at Union Station is a natural extension of her love for Charleston, special events, livee music, community involvement and artistic expression. In addition to her work with Union Station, Summer is also an Esthetician and has owned Body Sugaring Charleston since 2012. She has the ability to make personal connections, and to help clients realize and achieve their goals.

After college, Summer embarked on a 4 month planned road trip around the United States with a goal to visit as many State and National Parks as possible. She was living the “Van Life” before that was even a thing! In college she spent nearly 4 months in Australia and then New Zealand, and during her senior year in college she realized that she had seen more backroads of Australia than the USA, so her plan after graduating was to take the same amount of time to explore our own country. Her 4 month road trip took her to Breckenridge, CO, where she was visiting friends from Charleston. She quickly fell in love with the Victorian ski resort town and decided to stay in Breckenridge for one winter, to learn to snowboard. That winter turned into 10 years and a young son. Summer loves the Rocky Mountains and encourages everyone to get out of their bubble and to explore their world. Her son, Reid, graduated from James Island Charter High School in 2022!

Summer thrives in environments where she is challenged to use her natural skills and experience, to help others achieve their artistic visions. In her off time, she’s traveling and enjoying live music, especially Phish.
