Melissa took the time to listen to exactly what we wanted, helped us design a buffet concept with two stations, and was super flexible as we planned the event. My mouth still waters just thinking about it! Station 1- Mac and Cheese, Collard Greens and Pulled Pork. Station 2- Salad with goat cheese and figs, Lentils, Hummus, and Chickpea Cakes). We also had a midnight snack and appetizers, which were a huge hit. Melissa and her team were always on time, professional, full of energy and made our reception a blast! Many of our guests asked who catered our wedding and are now planning to go to her for their events in the future! We would absolutely recommend Verbena to anyone interested in a down-to-earth caterer that will take excellent care of you on your big day!

We attended a wedding in 2015 that was catered by Verbena -- the food was phenomenal, Melissa's team was friendly and professional, and we heard from our friends that she was reasonably priced/willing to work within a budget, so when we got engaged about a month after this wedding, she was the only caterer we met with. When we said we wanted to serve Mediterranean food, Melissa ran with it and gave us a menu that we approved without any changes, it all sounded so good. The day of was even better than I expected, we received a lot of compliments about the food (and we have many foodie friends and family, so that's saying something), and I've even had people ask for recipes, not that I've been able to help on that front. Finally, in addition to all of this wonderful food, she was also incredibly organized, asking really helpful questions along the way about the plan for the evening that helped me figure out and get through my to-do list, AND she was willing to coordinate our rentals and take care of setup and cleanup. Five stars for Melissa and her wonderful team!

We just had our wedding, and we used Verbena Catering in South Portland. Melissa, the owner, was wonderful to work with. I had trouble finding a caterer who would A. return my calls, and B. work within my budget. She was very responsive from the first email I sent to the last, and was very respectful and creative when it came to our budget. I trusted her completely and she and her team were so on the ball throughout the planning process and on the day of the event. And the food was amazing. I had many guests comment on how great the food was, and they still mention it when we talk about the wedding now. We had a very rustic/organic/New England style from the decor to the food and they got it spot on. I didn't know of Verbena before starting to plan our wedding, and they came by a recommendation after our first caterer kept missing the mark. From the table settings to beautiful bread and cheese table during cocktail hour to the service, it was all amazing. I would use them again in a heartbeat.
