About

The Welcome Diner is a southern-tinged, southwestern located, farm to table American fare diner. We scratch cook with the finest ingredients - made with integrity by our purveyor partners. We prize providing our guests with genuine hospitality. We strive to create a better experience for our guests everyday. The Welcome Diner is located on the eastern edge of Downtown Tucson and the most westerly point of Broadway Blvd's Sunshine Mile. We are situated in a classic Googie architecture building, designed by California architect Ronald Bergquist, and built for the Sambo's restaurant chain in 1964. The diner was fully restored in 2016 and now features the original exterior building elevations, kitchen and dining area layouts, the metal cutout signage just to left of entrance. In the process of restoring the diner, the original sign fixtures above the counter were discovered and exposed. The tiles from the original design to the most recent renovation - approximated to be in the 1980's - are displayed on the south wall of the main dining room. Please come by to say hello. We look forward to serving you!
