We had our wedding here. Spectacular and unique venue. Beautifully decorated down to every detail. The staff was above and beyond helpful, flexible, and professional. I would highly recommend this venue... you won't be disappointed! -

171 Genesee Team, Martin and Schmidt Family,
Jimmy and I thank you so much for helping to plan and orchestrate our wedding day! We fell in love with the unique space at first site two winters ago as we started the wedding planning process! Utica is a hometown that Jimmy and I share together since we bought our home in 2015, so it was important that our venue was local and encompassed our life together!
The venue easily speaks for itself! It’s beautiful historical features, one of the oldest operating Otis elevator in the country, exposed brick, and unprecedented views of downtown Utica from the floor to ceiling windows! It was also important that we surrounded our wedding planning process with local friends, family and businesses that we trust! The Martin’s and Schmidt’s are just that!
Our breath was taken away when we saw everything come together! Christine and family had beautiful decor options and pulled everything together seamlessly! From planning, to set up, to day of coordination, to clean up! The families of the 171 baby are top notch!
The Gaffney’s thank you for kickstarting our married journey off in a beautiful way! -

My husband and I had a hard time deciding on a wedding venue until we found 171 Events. The second we walked into the building and met Chris, we knew it was the perfect venue for our wedding...every corner of the building has charm and beauty!! Chris was hands on throughout the entire planning process, always lending suggestions/ideas, and quick at communicating. Our wedding day was beyond perfect and far surpassed our expectations. It's been three weeks since our day and people keep commenting on the beautiful venue and all the details we planned with Chris. 171 Events is the perfect venue!! What can I say- People are still coming up to me from OCT. and saying what a great venue it was. How unique it was .The venue is mixed with feelings of home, history, industrial, elegance , vintage, and class.. I LOVED the OLD historic , still working, OTIS elevator .People loved riding in it to the ceremony floor. ( Stairs were also optional) Some guests had never seen/rode in one that old- metal grated doors, hand dial controls, so I was able to give the younger people that experience :) The bridal suite is huge, beautiful, and to die for!.Christine ,and her team, were amazing to work with. They helped me in so many ways during the planning stages, and the day of. They helped take lower my stress level immensely!!!!! I seriously had a day of no worries knowing they were " my team" ! If I had to redo it, I would 110% go with 171 Events again -

Unique and Elegant
171 Events was the perfect venue for our special day. If you are looking for a cool and unique canvas to create your dream day this is it! It has a neat urban vibe but also felt elegant. Christine and her staff were amazing and helped us every step of the way to execute our vision. The Bridal suite is incredible with the perfect backdrop looking out on historical Utica. The building itself has many cool photo opportunities and is located in the heart of downtown Utica surrounded by many amenities to accommodate guests who are staying over or coming from out of town. Hotels, nightlife, restaurants and a sweet coffee shop located right on the first floor of 171 Events! Whether you are looking to have your wedding ceremony, reception, showers, birthday or private event, they have it covered. -

We had a great experience working with Chris, who helped us to create a very unique wedding at her gorgeous venue. Every detail was taken care of - she filled the space with candles and vintage details that made for an elegant and unique experience. Her recommendation for a caterer (Michael's Fine Foods in Waterville) was a huge hit with all the guests. -
