The absolute best wedding hotel venue there ever was

I cannot say enough good things about the Atlanta Marriott Marquis. I began the venue search pre-COVID, and honestly I was hesitant to have my wedding at the Marquis because there were not many wedding reviews. Eventually, we decided to go for it because of how stunning the ballroom was, and this turned into easily the best wedding-planning decision we made. Hotels have understandably gone through many changes during this season, and we ended up working with a few people along the way. However, every single one of them felt like a friend by the end, and they each went above and beyond every expectation I had of a venue. We looked at close to 20 venues. The Marquis offered an unbeatable package and prices, a gorgeous ballroom, flexibility from start to finish, and an absolutely unmatched Director of Event Planning (Curlyncia) and team. Planning a wedding is not easy, and planning a wedding during COVID was almost impossible. The staff made us feel important and safe, and they were on our side the whole time. They bent over backwards to make sure that our every need and request was met; There was truly nothing I asked for that they were not willing to accommodate. They even made the dreaded thought of possibly postponing the wedding not so bad, but luckily we didn’t have to go that route. I cannot say enough good things about this venue. If you are so much as considering a site visit, please please please go for it. You won’t regret it.

Our wedding weekend at the Marriott Marquis was wonderful! The guest rooms, staff, food and service were exceptional. Also, the Presidential/Honeymoon suite was spectacular, going above and beyond our wildest expectations!! I want to personally thank the Marquis for providing a truly memorable experience we will never forget.

We were trying to make our wedding reception site convenient for our guests since we had so many coming in from out of town. We wanted something downtown and as soon as we visited the Atlanta Marriott Marquis we fell in love. The hotel is gorgeous and the room we chose for our reception was perfect for us. The problems occurred during the planning process. Throughout the year that we were coordinating our event there we worked with three different event managers. That wouldn't have been a problem except for the fact that I had to go over all of the details again with each of them since they seem to have lost my files, or didn't have complete files. Also, one big draw for us to have our wedding reception at the Marriott Marquis was because they suggested we could have our cocktail hour out near the pool with all of the cabanas, etc. We were so excited about this part of our wedding that we booked our reception there a lot because of that reason. Well, three weeks before the wedding they told us it would not be possible to use the pool b/c there was going to be construction out there. We were VERY disappointed. There was just several issues throughout the process (after we put our deposit down so we couldn't change venues) where we felt that our little 80 person wedding wasn't worth it for them, so they weren't working with us. The third event manager whom we had been working with wasn't even at the event the day of, so we once again were turned over to someone else. But, the day of went great, the staff that was there were very helpful and accommodating. We were happy. I'm not sure if I would recommend the Marriott Marquis. Location wise for us it was great, and the hotel is beautiful, but the problems they caused throughout the process didn't make it worth it. We are still waiting 3 weeks later for a credit that is due to us and I still haven't gotten a straight answer to that.

The Marquis is a beautiful hotel, but the event planning staff was not the best compared to other hotels I've work with. The charges for small services, like a projector, screen, conference phone, etc. were astronomical. We had multiple guests staying in the hotel and we still had to pay per person per hour for wi-fi.

Our wedding was held here last month. The wedding day went well and all but the planning process with this hotel was the only thing about planning our wedding that nearly stressed me out.
We started out with one hotel coordinator and when we met her she was not considerate of our time or apologetic about not being considerate. She also wasn't responsive to the few questions we had early in the process. We booked over 14 months ahead of the wedding day so our early questions were simple enough but we still wanted answers. After a few issues with the 1st person we requested a new one. This 2nd person was ok at first but then she became unresponsive as well. After waiting over a month for some answers from her, we called our sales exec, Mandi Tishman, and were told the 2nd girl, Vicki, was no longer our coordinator. It would have been nice to have been told of this change by Vicki herself or even the new coordinator we were handed off to. The 3rd coordinator was Katie Kye. She was very bubbly and kind so we tried to be patient with her-thinking we had to be the 1st wedding she ever did there-but she made the entire experience exhausting. Even trying to pay the hotel what we owed was an ordeal. We had issues with selections for cocktail hour right up until the day before the wedding. Issues with the complimentary rooms that were part of our event-my sister was given my suite, how can they give someone the bridal suite that's not the bride? My parents were given a regular room instead of a suite. I had to change my room during my rehearsal gathering due to their error.
The wedding day went well, but there were simple things they were off on timing with. We were offered water and fruit while getting ready in the bridal suite, but it wasn't brought up until we were headed down for the ceremony. They notified us we had to have the suites packed up to have my things moved to the honeymoon suite, and hardly gave us time to pack up. I could go on and on!!
