Truly a special place! I could tell from first visiting even in the dead of winter that it was a beautiful, special location. The goats, ducks, chickens, friendly farm cat, serene scenery—I highly recommend. -

Perfect Last Minute Wedding Venue!
My husband and I had to make last minute changes to our wedding plans and happened upon Ballenger Farm on Airbnb. From there, everything seemed to fall into place. Our families stayed at the farmhouse, which was beautiful and very homey. It had everything we needed to prepare for our little wedding ceremony and reception. Liz let us use the arch and gave us leaves and flowers to help decorate it. We set up chairs and made a little aisle in the courtyard to walk down. We brought a tent to set up that we had a little reception under by the pond. Everything was absolutely perfect! Our guests loved visiting with the animals on the property and it was very private and intimate. Liz was super flexible and supportive throughout the entire process and answered all of our questions quickly and thoroughly. She was determined to help us make our wedding day perfect and it was! We are so grateful to Liz and her parents at Ballenger Farm for their hospitality and generosity. Definitely recommend this venue to all future brides! -

First of all, the space is gorgeous no matter what time of year you are looking at. We had our wedding in late September and it was the perfect temperature and humidity. And there were no bugs. Elizabeth was extremely accommodating with the timing of the dropoff/pickup of the rentals and got very excited for all our little touches like wine barrels coming in from a local winery. She coordinated with our photographer for a site visit. She and her family truly love to allow sweet, small ceremonies on their beautiful property. -

Ballenger Farms was an absolute dream! We loved every second of our wedding. Elizabeth and her family are amazing to work with; so flexible, accommodating, fun, and positive! The venue is beautiful and speaks for itself. It is quiet, serene, and the animals are so friendly!
We had the best time with no issues whatsoever with this event/venue. I recommend them 100000%! -

Our experience at Ballenger Farm, and working with Liz, was nothing short of amazing for our intimate elopement! When our original wedding was postponed due to COVID, we decided we wanted to move forward with eloping on our original date. The house and getting ready spaces were charming and full of the home's original character. We married in the incredibly romantic courtyard full of wildflowers, it pretty much felt like our own secret garden dream tucked into a perfect farm landscape. Liz was so sweet to work with, she added so much happiness to our day, and we are so thankful for her help in making our elopement the best day we could have imagined! -

Ballenger Farm made all of our wedding dreams come true. The space is gorgeous, flexible and authentic. The animals are so so charming. I spent the morning of the wedding with a glass of champagne in one hand and the barn cat on my lap. Liz was a great communicator, so friendly and eager to offer suggestions. I can't imagine having gotten married anywhere else. It was romantic, beautiful, and rustic. I felt like our Jane Austen meets Virginia dreams came true. -

My fiance and I took advantage of the intimate weddings trend this year and opted for a ceremony with only our immediate family. The Ballenger Farm was affordable for a Thursday wedding, and Liz (the owner) was always helpful and responsive to the multitude of emails I sent asking random questions throughout the planning process. The property has multiple outdoor options for the ceremony, all of which are lovely and perfect for small parties. The space could also be tented for a larger wedding. The highlight for us was the courtyard, which we used for the reception. Covered/indoor space in case of rain is limited, but there is a small covered barn that we ended up using (it does have gravel flooring). Overall, it was a wonderful experience. -

Perfect Weekend!!!
My husband and I had last minute venue change and I literally had 2 months to find a place, and with a last minute cancellation this place was available. Liz and her parents were so kind and the animals were just a great touch. I loved this place after looking at the pictures and doing the walk made my decision a lot easier. My wedding was perfect. The house was so cute and everything about it was perfect. Anything I needed they were there to help and made my wedding day spectacular. My family and I got to enjoy this wonderful venue. The kids loved playing with the goats and chicken and the few baby chicks. I would definitely recommend this place 100%. -

Most magical day of our lives!
We found Ballenger Farm on Wedding Wire after desperately trying to find a way to make our wedding day special after our original date (with 150+) people was canceled due to Covid-19 in April. We almost settled for a simple back yard wedding but I always envisioned something a little more special for us. With about 3 weeks to plan, we had the most beautiful, intimate ceremony on the farm with just our immediate family and bridal party. Dinner on the patio and the full house to admire and spend the weekend in. Every part of it was perfect, magical and exactly how it was meant to be all along. Thank you, Liz, for making my dreams come true and being an ANGEL to work with. -

I can’t say enough how much I loved having this venue and this family for my wedding on 11/16/19. Liz is the main point of contact and she is so sweet and caring. It’s family run and warm hearted. To give just some examples, the venue made a bonfire for our wedding and then put a fire in the home for the immediate family that spent the wedding night there. They also offered to coordinate the wedding as I was having trouble finding a day of coordinator initially.
The property is gorgeous and every time I came to see it it got better and better! They are always working hard to update the farm throughout the seasons. The pictures from our wedding are dreamy. The farm House is a wonderful spot for the girls getting ready process. Highly recommend this spot!!! -

Ballenger Farm was incredible and such a blessing. My husband and I hosted our post-elopement celebration with friends here (married at the DC War Memorial the day before). It was such a blessing for us because we had actually rented out another air bnb that ended up canceling our reservation less than a month before our event. Liz was very quick to respond and was available to meet us the very next day to have us take a look at the venue. Liz's place was even better than our originally air bnb venue. We were able to have an outdoor/indoor event for our 45 guests. Liz was extremely accessible and made sure that we had everything we needed for our event. She even had great recommendations for other vendors for us regarding lawn games, tables, etc. The space was just incredible - so much land! We had a pinata (filled with mini shots of alcohol) that we hung on one of her many big trees, we had corn hole and ladder ball for guests as well. This is a working farm and we had the goats and chickens hanging out and our guests loved it. The home was decorated so beautifully - it's pretty much THE place you want to have an event, especially your wedding. You likely wouldn't have to make any changes to how anything was arranged in that house at all (Liz is flexible and allows you to if need be). We made use of the fire pit and had smores. It was such a hit - the seating around the fire pit is tree stumps - it's so cute! We did not make use of this since we already got married, but, there are at least three areas that would be the perfect ceremony spots throughout the farm (as seen in the photos of this listing). Liz and her family were kind enough to share one of their fishing rods with my dad so that he could fish in their pond. Talk about hospitality! Lastly, I want to mention that they gave us farm fresh eggs (the freshest you'll ever get) the next morning. I would give Ballenger Farms 7 stars if I could - I would recommend this venue for anyone who is looking to have an intimate 50 and under wedding here, baby showers, birthday parties, or anything. I also want to mention that the space was so large that it allowed for guests to hang out and explore through the land too which was a huge hit for us! -

Beyond perfect! My (now) husband and I were on the hunt in the northern VA area that could house our 15 immediate family members for a small ceremony and dinner. The Ballenger Farm is a dream come true for anyone looking for something intimate! The grounds are beautiful and Elizabeth and her family were extremely accommodating. I literally would not have changed a single thing about our experience. I cannot recommend this venue enough and I look forward to watching their business grow! -
