Bluestone was excellent to work with and it was wonderful how they made our daughter's wedding such a special day for her!

I just had my wedding on August 19th and Bluestone was absolutely perfect; I could not have been happier on my wedding day. Bluestone sits on top of a hill, which looks down at their vines and show amazing views of the mountains (an added plus for any future late August/Fall bride is the corn field below the vineyard turns into a corn maze, adding another texture to the landscape). I am so happy I choose to hold both my ceremony and reception there. Tonia was a joy to work with throughout the entire planning process and was there on the wedding day to ensure everything ran smoothly.
I got married on the Ridge which offers a beautiful view of the mountains in the background as well as feeling like you are in the vines. The reception area is wonderful as well with the many windows showing the same amazing view and has a beautiful fire place. At sunset, everyone was outside on the patio, watching the sun set against the mountains.
Of all things to consider on your wedding weekend, the solar eclipse was one thing I did not think about. Due to everyone heading south, 81 was a parking lot. Tonia and the bluestone staff were very professional and handled our situation seamlessly; we delayed the wedding 1 hour. Tonia was able to opened the bars up a little early for those that were already there in order to allow more time for my other guests to arrive. Everything moved smoothly and I cannot thank them enough for all their hard work given all the last minute changes we had to make! I would definitely recommend this venue to any future bride!

Bluestone Vineyard was simply immaculate for our wedding location! Tonia and her team were extraordinarily helpful, which helped make wedding planning from Ohio much easier. My husband and I visited their location and immediately knew this was the place for us. Tonia walked us through the contract signing process, the components involved in the contract, and provided many suggestions of vendors to use in the area. The day of the wedding, we had a ton of help to set up the ceremony space, the configuration of the Meeting House for the reception and making sure our vendors had places for their respective services. At first we were concerned about decorating a huge space for our relatively small wedding (60 guests), but the Meeting House has a fantastic view and was beautifully finished, so our table decorations and the few decorative pieces around the room were totally sufficient. I couldn't have asked for a better venue, and more accommodating staff!

I am so glad I chose Bluestone Vineyard for both my wedding ceremony and reception! Both the outdoor and indoor options are beautiful. My guests were awed by the view from the Ridge where my ceremony took place, as well as the view from the Meeting House balcony. I was also extremely impressed with the services Bluestone provides. I worked closely with Tonia Liskey who did everything she could to help me feel calm and organized in the midst of my planning. Each Bluestone employee I worked with provided me with all the information I needed while going out of their way to help out. Bluestone not only provided me with an amazing venue but also the help I needed to allow my wedding day to go as smoothly as possible.

I could not have asked for a better venue for our dream day. Tonia was my guardian angel through the entire planning process and made sure that no matter what our hopes were being fulfilled. The weekend of our wedding was flip flopping between 20 and 80% chance of thunderstorms, but the venue was extremely flexible with helping us choose whether to be in or outside. We chose inside and it was still gorgeous and perfect for our wedding of about 160. There was plenty of room for dancing, eating, sitting, drinking, and a photobooth and ice cream bar! To top it off, the views just cannot be beat in this brand new building with a wall full of windows. I recommend this as a venue for everyone and anyone, nevermind that it was the perfect option at the absolute best price across multiple states.

Our wedding was perfect. Bluestone was exactly what we were looking for. We were able to have our ceremony outside with the guests warmed by the heat lamps and fireplace under the porch. During the reception there was plenty of dancing room and the guests who didn't want to dance were able to sit on the porch and chat. My husband and I are still talking about how wonderful it was. Tonia is just the nicest person you will ever meet. Love this venue!!

This venue and staff were wonderful to work with and helped to ease the stress of wedding planning! The venue is beautiful with breathtaking views and there are great options for both indoor/outdoor or large/small weddings and receptions all in one place. The event coordinator was extremely flexible, accommodating, and helpful in providing a lot of great information, vendors, resources, etc., to help me have the wedding of my dreams. I know that the venue and the great service was a big part of making our day so special, and helped to create a lasting memory we will never forget!

    Beautiful Outdoor and Indoor Venue

I had my ceremony and reception at Bluestone Vineyard. The venue is beautiful and the meeting house can fit a lot of people. I chose to have my ceremony outdoors on the ridge that overlooks some of the vines, fields and the mountains. It's so pretty, but there is very minimal shade on the property so keep that in mind if you're getting married in the hot summer. The meeting house's back wall is mostly large glass windows that allow you to see the view and the large deck that is out back and has a pretty stone fireplace that makes a great focal point. However, it faces west so the setting sun will shine directly in and there are no curtains. You are required to buy their wine because of course it is a vineyard, but they don't make you buy a ton of it, which was nice because we didn't have a lot of drinkers coming to the wedding. Their wine is really good though, and the Moscato was definitely a favorite at the wedding. If you want a beautiful venue at a reasonable cost definitely book here!

    Wedding & Reception 10-20-2018

Our wedding at Bluestone Vineyard was so beautiful! We got married on "The Ridge" and then had our reception in "The Meeting House." We had planned to host to cocktail hour on the upper patio but the weather was a little too chilly that night. Some guests still enjoyed standing by the heaters and fireplace outside. They were flexible and let us move the cocktail hour inside the day of the wedding. They also have a wide selection of ceremony sites which was different than a lot of venues we looked into. The wines are SO good too!!!
The one negative was some lack of communication. The wedding coordinator quit the month before my wedding and I was not contacted. I actually found out from my mother-in-law when she called to place a wine order. The newer coordinator was very pleasant but new and had to check on a lot of our requests. Would have been nice if they were pro-active and informed me of the change instead of hearing it from someone not related to the venue.
Other than that minor issue, I had a really great experience with this venue and I would highly recommend it! Good value especially compared to other vineyards in the charlottesville/harrisonburg area.

Tonia at Bluestone was so wonderful to work with. We were blessed to have her as a resource throughout the planning process. The facility and grounds are beautiful and made the day special. It was nice to have inside and outside options with the banquet hall, the patio and the deck. We appreciated the hospitality of the event staff that was on during reception and thoroughly enjoyed our day. The bridal suite was a nice featured and allowed us to come and go throughout the day since we had a church wedding.

    Beautiful venue

If you want an incredible view, Bluestone is the place for you! A lot of helpful reception extras come included in the price, from linens and such. It’s a lovely venue with a lot of options on how you want your big day set up exactly.

Great setting, but bring your own coordinator

This is a gorgeous venue with lots of natural beauty and a lots of areas to choose from for a ceremony. The reception room is huge and can accommodate over 200 guests, so this is a great place for a big wedding. The setting alone would get 5 stars, but my experience with the venue staff was not all good. I booked this place about 15 months before my wedding, and in that time, the venue coordinator was replaced FOUR times. With all the staff switches, the details of our original contract were muddied and changed, and communication was difficult. The final staff switch happened only a month before my wedding, which was very frustrating. I ended up hiring a personal coordinator, which was the best decision I could have made. At the end of the night, the wine servers told me I could not switch out our remaining (already purchased) bottles for ones we wanted, which was contrary to what we had been told previously by the other venue staff. I had to find the new coordinator and bring her over to prove I could get whatever wine I wanted. My big issue with this place is that the staff didn't seem very organized. I would highly recommend the place for its setting, but make sure you hire your own coordinator.

    Bluestone Vineyard's reply:

We are so glad you liked our scenery and venue but are so sorry for the inconvenience of working with numerous staff. We have always highly recommended that couples have their own coordinator for their wedding day. We are the venue and would like to have that go-to person to answer questions instead of bothering the bride or groom on their special day. That person should be in on all the plans from day one, so that they know what is expected from each vendor and can handle all situations immediately without the couple even being aware. Best wishes always!

I would NEVER do business here again

I will NEVER do business with Bluestone Vineyards again. I held my wedding there in April, which is supposed to be a once in a lifetime event. Jackie is incredibly unprofessional and will not help you in any way. Not only that, but the bar tenders were asking my guests for phone numbers, which is completely unprofessional. I’d like to mention that DeAnne had nothing to do with this. She was the only bright spot in this nightmare of an experience.

Jackie felt I asked too many questions and made that very clear. We went for a meet and greet with my mother in law and my husband to look at the centerpieces I had put together, to make sure they would look okay on the tables.

First, we showed up and she had no tables set up to put the center pieces on, knowing that’s what we were coming to do. So we had to wait on that. Second, my mother in law had asked politely if we could put different center pieces out for the rehearsal dinner. Prior to this conversation, I had spoken with Jackie and asked if we could just sit outside and eat on the patio. We would bring plastic table clothes and trash bags. We wanted to eat pizza and chips, which is super simple and easy to clean. I had not had an opportunity to speak with my mother in law yet, so she just asked Jackie if that was okay. I just explained no, that if we wanted to do centerpieces and other things, we would need to pay to have it, because that would require more work for the venue; which was completely true and was informative to my mother in law. That was the only time I mentioned money, that was it.
I called to apologize (while I was in a nail salon full of about 20 people, so 20 witnesses can attest to how she spoke to me) because she said she was “done” with me and didn’t want to deal with me anymore. She said that I asked too many questions and needed too much from her and that I kept asking for free things. She said my mother in law was rude to her about wanting to pay for the rehearsal. She said that her and her staff had a BETTING pools going on, for how many times I would reach out to her before my actual event. She didn’t want to deal with me, that she had never had a bride that was so needy and asked so many questions. She said I was too much and that I wasn’t worth the time or money I had paid.
Let’s say that’s true, even if I did contact her too many times. That is extremely inappropriate and I would NEVER in my life talk to a paying customer like that. I have run many events for 300+ people and I would never speak to someone like that.
I apologized profusely on the phone and said I didn’t mean to offend her. That I thought the questions I had asked, were all things she would want to know, or be aware of. You can ask the 20 other people sitting in the room, I probably said sorry 20+ times in this conversation. I was absolutely nothing other than polite to her and she absolutely berated me.
My mother in law only asked 1 time about the rehearsal dinner and I just explained to her why we couldn’t do center pieces and extra things. That was the only time she even address Jackie about anything, and she wasn’t rude, she asked a question. If you know my mother in law (and half of Harrisonburg does), you’d know she’s the nicest person you’ve ever met. She would never intentionally try to offend someone, it’s just not in her nature.
The only 2 things I mentioned about being “free,” was the rehearsal (which required 0 effort on her part and the chairs and tables were already set up outside, they leave them up 24/7) and the wine that they require you to buy in order to host an event at her venue. Now keep in mind, I didn’t ask for the wine for free. At the beginning, I explained, I would like to pay the entire sum of the event. So $4,000+ at one time, so we could just be done with the cost.

All the questions I asked were things that I had no way of knowing without talking to her. It was things like, can I have fake flowers. I understood it was a vineyard and didn’t want to ruin anything by having fake flowers in their yard. I asked about staking Sheppard hooks in the ground, which I thought was courteous, because again, I didn’t want to ruin the yard. I asked about how many chairs they would put in each row, and how many seats they could fit at each table, so we knew how to seat people.
So she gave us a total and I told her that was to include all the wine. Well, she comes back a few months before the wedding (keep in mind, I booked the venue almost a year in advance) and she was asking for us to pay our remaining balance. I asked what balance since we paid the entire thing upfront. She said we had to pay for tax on the wine. I reminded her that we had already paid for all the wine at the beginning and she said, no not the tax. So apparently when you ask to pay for everything, she doesn’t include everything. So I told her I would pay for the tax of the wine, but that it wasn’t good practice for her to do this and that I found it slightly annoying to bring up funds a few months before the wedding after we were under the impression we had already paid for everything.

This was the worst experience in my life.
