DBMS was the perfect venue for our colorful, coastal, 120 guest wedding! Despite the overcast weather, the ceremony under the tent was beautiful and Clifford Hall allowed plenty of room for dancing! The harbor provided such a unique backdrop for photos throughout the afternoon and evening. Anita was incredibly supportive throughout the entire process so we were fully able to enjoy our day! Without a doubt would recommend Anita and DBMS! -

Our wedding at the Duxbury Maritime school was amazing. They made it so we did not have to worry about anything on the day of our wedding. They set up everything so perfectly. Our day of coordinator Madeline was so organized and wonderful. We were vey worried about the weather on the day of our wedding. Because hurricane Lee was supposed to hit. They made everything work even better than we could have imagined! They really helped to ease our anxiety. We were supposed to get married outside but got married inside do to the weather and their indoor space in just as beautiful with panoramic views of Duxbury bay. Could not of asked for a better experience.

Perfect Venue
We loved our wedding at DBMS! The staff was incredibly accommodating and easy to communicate with. We couldn’t have done it without Anita, who helped us every step of the way. We loved their recommended caterer choice. We enjoyed our ceremony under the tent, cocktail hour on the lawn, and dinner in Clifford Hall. Our guests especially loved boat rides during cocktail hour. It was a perfect day! -

Responsive, above and beyond support
Everyone was so helpful through the entire process. This venue felt like a special local getaway. So many pieces of having a wedding here felt unique, when we are at a time of our lives where it feels like every other weekend is a wedding such as the groom arriving by boat. Everyone we worked with seemed to love what they were doing, were so accommodating, and supportive/ problem solving anything that came up. -

We had our wedding at DBMS just a month ago and I am still on cloud nine; everything was perfect! Despite it raining during the ceremony they had a perfect back up plan and everything went extremely smoothly. Very easy to work with them throughout the planning process and they allowed a lot of flexibility since you bring in all of your own vendors. This also made it easy to DIY and save money in certain areas. Highly recommend! -

We had our wedding at DBMS in June 2019. Working with Anita as our day-of coordinator and planner, everything was great. She helped us to bring our vision to life and made sure we had the perfect day. And we were able to arrive to cocktail hour on a boat! Bonus about this venue: the view of Duxbury Bay is absolutely gorgeous, and the back lawn/patio area are perfect for cocktail hour. Our reception was held upstairs, but the upper deck allowed guests to enjoy the summer night and take in the view all day. Definitely recommend DBMS if you're looking for a hidden gem for a venue!

Jen was extremely professional and communicative, making the day (which was sort of complicated) run smoothly! The place was gorgeous and everyone had a great time! Families could not stop talking about the boat rides! Multiple people who attended are now considering hosting their own weddings there. -

Amazing Venue for a Great Price!
DBMS is a beautiful venue on the south shore for a great price. The inside function hall is freshly redone and has very minimal decor which makes it a great blank canvas for your own wedding decor. It has a very classic but sleek and minimalistic vibe to it. My wedding ended up having to go to a Plan c when rain entered the forecast, which turned into lightening, and the day still ended up beautiful. DBMS was actively ready to make these quick decisions in response to the weather and I didn’t have to worry about anything. Our caterer was one of DBMS’s preferred vendors who was very familiar with the set up and running of events there, so we again didn’t worry. They have a great network of vendors. Many of my guests kept telling us what a great spot this venue was. Great sized dance floor and table layout. We had 115 guests who all fit no problem. The only problems were the responsiveness with the venue, sometimes would take weeks to hear back on certain things. Also, we were unable to take any first look photos on the property, so it was hard to look elsewhere when we fell in love with the scenery of the venue, and couldn’t take any pictures there beforehand. -

DBMS is a gorgeous wedding venue, and we had a wonderful time at our wedding. I would definitely suggest having your wedding here, with one caveat (thus the 4 instead of 5 stars). If I had it to do again, I would 100% hire a day-of wedding coordinator for the following reasons. Unfortunately the person who helped us book the venue/was going to be there to help things run smoothly (so we did not hire a coordinator) ended up not being available the day of the wedding, so we ended up with another person who did not know what was going on at all. As a result, the building was not open on time for the vendors to set up as early as they needed to, and the parking lot filled up with cars not from our wedding so that guests (even family who arrived early) had to walk from down the street. Some decorations that I left with a list of where to put them did not end up being put out. The AC shut down halfway through the reception, and people started leaving because it was so hot. There was apparently a bridal suite available, but this had not been the case when we booked. The person who was assigned to our wedding day did not tell us about this room and told us to leave our things in the offices, which were then locked without the person in sight, although she said she would be there. Another issue was that there was some sort of heavy machinery being run next door throughout the entire ceremony. I think that these are issues that a coordinator could have addressed, so I would suggest this venue but please address these issues beforehand! We had the time of our lives, but these issues were still very disappointing.
