My daughter's wedding was spectacular. The venue was beautiful and immaculate. Everyone was so impressed with how easily everything was to deal with. Amazing view, wonderful grounds. And the fountain and flowers were fantastic.

    Amazing!!!

They were soo amazing to deal with and great to help and answer any questions we had!
Only thing we didn’t like was we offered more money to even just set up our reception area on Thursday so when we arrived Friday we could just hang out and enjoy our time with our friends and family as we traveled from MN and other from WA! But they didn’t allow that (even though nothing was going on at the venue)
Just know they expect you to clean and vacuum and wipe everything down in every single cabin and building. (Mopping garage floors as well)
They expect a lot even when there wasn’t a wedding for another month..
Also, if you plan to cook at all like breakfast Saturday morning or Sunday morning, make sure to bring bigger pots and pans as there were hardly any in the kitchens!
But other than that, they were very very nice people and what an amazing beautiful venue!!

Do not get married at Flying Horse

My fiancée and I were planning to get married at Flying Horse in July 2020. Unfortunately, coronavirus forced us to cancel our wedding. Flying Horse was extremely unhelpful and did not treat us fairly.

My fiancée and I are both Montana natives. I just graduated medical school and I’m in my first year of emergency medicine residency. I’ve been on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic taking care of sick patients. My fiancée is just finishing pharmacy school. She has also been working through the pandemic making sure people can still get their medications. Many of our wedding guests are our classmates who are also healthcare workers taking care of coronavirus patients. They are exposed to people with the virus daily. We realized it is irresponsible and dangerous to bring our friends and family to our beautiful home state for a wedding. We didn’t want to risk further exposing our Western Montana communities to this dangerous virus. Additionally, while we were planning the wedding and our friends and family were booking their flights and hotels, Montana was limiting the size of gatherings to 10 people. This made it impossible to move forward with a large wedding.

When we approached Flying Horse with these concerns, they were dismissive and unhelpful. They insisted our wedding could still go on as planned with a smaller size and social distancing. Our agreement with Flying Horse was to have a wedding with more than 100 guests. We shouldn’t have to pay a large wedding venue price when they can’t accommodate all of our guests. When we asked to reschedule the wedding, they wouldn’t. When we asked for a refund of our deposit, they refused. So, while we are putting our lives at risk and being exposed to coronavirus daily while working to protect and help sick people, Flying Horse wouldn’t work with us at all.

We’re now trying to find another wedding venue for next summer. We’ve lost $1000 to Flying Horse, which has been difficult. We are just starting our careers. As a resident doctor, I don’t make much money and we both have student loans to pay off.

I recommend people don’t get married at or do business with Flying Horse. Our experience has shown they care more about money than the wellbeing of our community.

    Flying Horse MT's reply:

    David,
While we are all grateful with your efforts with the pandemic, you are a bit untruthful here. Your "approach" to The Flying Horse was a nasty DEMAND letter for a full refund. You escalated the whole process. So, we in turn acted accordingly. There is no limit on people to attend events in Ravalli county. As long as precautions are taken and people respect others space, weddings are happening. The Governor has "suggested" limiting gatherings in small spaces. But, it is NOT a law. I am sorry you are unable to have your wedding as you originally planned. The whole world feels your pain. But, maybe asking people graciously for help instead of barging in yelling will get you farther in your future. We have already booked your date for another very grateful bride. Good luck in your future and I hope you learn a better bedside manner for your chosen profession.
