awfully horribly terrible experience
ZERO STARS. WOW. This place ruined Valentine's Day.
TL;DR - Go somewhere else.
I booked a table for 2/14 at 6:15pm in early January. The day arrives and the line was wrapped around the building - there were hundreds of people in line - it looked like a Disneyland line. Zero parking. We miraculously got a spot and we said, "Thankfully we have reservations!" Turns out the line was for people with reservations to check in! It was a 30+ minute wait to CHECK IN. Then it was an hour or more to be seated. So our 6:15pm was suddenly an 8:00pm dine time. Insane. They clearly overbooked and did not care one iota.
What is the point of making a reservation? As Jerry Seinfeld said, "You know how to *take* the reservation, you just don't know how to *hold* the reservation. And that's really the most important part of the reservation: the holding. Anybody can just take them."
Fogo singlehandedly ruined hundreds of people's reservations and Valentine's Day. You should absolutely NOT book with this restaurant. Go down the street to Ruth's Chris where they're kinder and know how to hold your reservation.
By the way, I got a nasty email from Fogo this morning saying I should have let them know if I wasn't going to keep my reservation. I stupidly thought it would be an apology for the most mismanaged restaurant experience of my life, but instead it was a guilt trip to make me feel bad for not attending my reservation. Wow. Why should I have to hold up my end of the reservation by cancelling it when you can't hold up your end by keeping a table for us at the specified time? Absolute garbage.
