    McGuirk/Parker wedding 9-24-22

We had our wedding on Saturday, September 24th at Gardencourt. This venue was absolutely beautiful. We had the ceremony outside and the reception inside. Trish at Gardencourt was very helpful along the way. We did several walkthroughs with her and she even suggested our wonderful wedding coordinator, Debbie, at Weekend Wedding Warriors. Trish was always prompt in replying to emails. The venue is at a great location with plenty of parking. We were able to pay for extra hours to be able to get our hair and makeup done at this location.

    Gardencourt's reply:

    Ms. Colleen,

Congratulations on your wedding!! Thank you for choosing Gardencourt. We are very happy we were able to help make your big day memorable! Also, we encourage you to share with us some of the special moments you captured through your photographs.

It was a absolute pleasure working with you both!

    All my Best,
    Trish Barr

    Wonderful Experience!

We had a wonderful experience at Gardencourt! Trish gave us excellent advice and went well beyond what we expected as far as accommodating our wishes and needs. Most of our crowd were out of towners and found it so convenient to walk to Caldwell Chapel for the ceremony and then to Gardencourt for the reception. The caterers provided excellent food, drinks, and service. Our group filled Laws Lodge and enjoyed the open areas for visiting and playing board games. We were thrilled with everything and found the staff very helpful, friendly, and concerned that things went well for us. Thank you to all! Glenn Ridley

This was a perfect venue. Our guests loved the flow of the evening and how easy it was for them to go straight from the ceremony to the cocktail hour and into the reception. We were worried that the different rooms would make our guests feel separated or distant from the events, but it actually made everything feel super cozy and intimate. I would highly recommend this venue.

I couldn't have asked for a better venue for my wedding. Everything came together beautifully. My husband actually found this venue and said he wanted to get married there so I went to check it out and fell in love. Highly recommend both Gardencourt and Caldwell Chapel!

Caldwell Chapel was perfect for our wedding ceremony! We were assigned an hour the night before to rehearse the ceremony, but we had a few hitches and it ended up taking an hour and a half. The chapel staff did not make any complaints and patiently waited for us to conclude. The day-of, the chapel was cool (important in early August) and clean. The beautiful stained glass windows made for some great post-ceremony pictures. We had 200 attendees, and could have easily fit another 100 guests. They book up fast, so call them TODAY!

This is the absolutely most gorgeous venue. From the ceremony in the rose garden amongst the ornate columns and antique wooden door makes you feel like you’re at an English castle garden. Wysyeria ovehangs the columns.
Indoors there are three large rooms where we had the reception. The ceilings are ornate. The front porch was perfect for cocktail hour and a string quartet. Everyone raved about how gorgeous it was.

    Loved loved loved the venue!

Loved the Chapel. So pretty. They worked with us. The only thing was people had a hard time finding it. People showed up late to the rehearsal and we only had a hour and that just was not enough for any one. I loved it though!

We were pleased with the atmosphere provided at Gardencourt but feel we paid an astronomical amount for what we received. If you are a do-it-yourself bride I would not recommend this facility as you will have to purchase extra hours before your reception or event in order to decorate (when I asked about setting anything up the day before, the lady thought I was joking). I was happy with the reception in general but would have liked a bit of flexibility concerning decor as well as catering. You will only be able to use their approved caterer.

    Disappointing

I have so many mixed emotions about this vendor. The venue was beautiful, but the staff, contract, and catering rules were terrible. Their contract was not thorough, and they are basically sitting on a lawsuit. They have several "rules" that are not in the contract, but given by word of mouth if you make the mistake of asking. If you break one of these "rules" they will threaten to kick you out of the venue, which adds a new level of stress while you are planning. Because they were transitioning between Trish and Lisa, we were given different answers from each of them on a number of questions, including: the number of tables, if drinks had to be served in a cup, and what to do in our catering crisis (none of which are in the contract). It was also extremely difficult to get in contact with anyone at Gardencourt regarding these questions. Do not bother calling them.

They have a catering contract with four caterers, and they get a high cut from all of them. When we went to book a caterer (the same week we picked the venue) only one was available, and Garden Court refused to discuss having additional caterers added to their list or or using "to-go" options from their approved caterers as a creative solution, because "it is simply not done." This translated to, we have not covered this in our contract, but we will threaten to kick you out if you do this. This brought me to tears, and they were the only vendor that actively caused me problems. They are extremely difficult to get in touch with, and they are very set in their ways. Going back I would absolutely pick a different venue. They caused me so much stress throughout different parts of my wedding planning, and they were very unclear on several rules. I felt very much like they were hiding the truth from us when we initially signed the contract, and I just hope couples read reviews before they book.

    Gardencourt's reply:

    Corinne,

Thank you for directing my attention to your recent experience at Gardencourt. It was a pleasure knowing that our beautiful venue met your expectations. However, we do want to extend our apologizes again for any miscommunication that occurred and let you know we appreciated your patience as we were transitioning a new employee. It is, of course our desire to serve all our patrons courteously and efficiently therefore, we hope it’s reassuring for you to know that we value your input and concerns and have taken steps to prevent these issues from occurring in the future.

In addition, you are correct Gardencourt does have a preferred caterer’s list that does consist of four local catering firms and they do reserve the right to cater all food/beverages served in the facility due to licensing, health department certification, liquor liability and insurance requirements. When our associate was asked by your fiancé what actions would be taken if on your wedding day you were to attempt to bring in your own food and/or caterer, our response was that we reserve the right to cancel the lease immediately upon the breach of any of the terms and conditions of our rental agreement. In addition, we stated that should Gardencourt and or its preferred caterer’s be unable to accommodate your needs you have the option to cancel your event up to ninety days (90) day’s prior to the event date and receive a full refund.

We are most interested and concerned about your satisfaction and hope that you will accept our apologies for any inconveniences caused to you.

    Again, thank you.

    Unfortunate experience

Gardencourt itself was absolutely stunning, however the venue coordinators were difficult to work with and to make matters worse my husband and I were yelled at by them at the end of the night, for something the catering company did wrong, only made my opinion of them worse. Only having 3 hours to set up before the ceremony was absolutely ridiculous and due to that, not everything was set up as we wanted. There was no other reason than pure laziness and not wanting to pay an employee to be there at the venue to give my wedding planner more time to set up when multiple other venues give you the entire day to do so. After speaking with the coordinators several times about coming in early Saturday or coming Friday to set some things up, the only excuse they could muster up was not wanting to pay an employee to be there while we were when they should be going above and beyond to make our day as perfect and stress free as possible, and it was the complete opposite. Throughout the time I worked with them there was a ton of miscommunication between me and the coordinators for Gardencourt which was very frustrating. They also promised the gardens to be in full bloom of roses and they were not, half of them being dead. I am extremely disappointed in our experience and unfortunately will not recommend anyone to use this venue unless there are changes made.

    Gardencourt's reply:

    Jennifer,

Thank you for your comments directing our attention to your recent experience. It is of the utmost importance to us that we serve all patrons courteously and efficiently. When we fall down on the job we like to know about it so that we can take the necessary steps to correct an issue.

You are correct, our first floor/rose garden rental package does include nine hours rental, which consists of three hours setup, five hours event and one hour take-down. These hours are clearly defined and outlined upon execution of each signed lease agreement. Also, included in the Lease terms and conditions is the option of purchasing additional hours for an additional fee for setup, event and take-down time. It's my understanding that you did not contract and/or pay for additional time. Had we been made aware of your concerns for setup time, we would have gladly made that time available at an additional fee.

In regards to your setup not being what you wanted, I believe that should have been a discussion that occurred between you and your contracted caterer as they are ultimately are responsible for all table, and chair setup. We strive to ensure the success of each event as Chris our on-site representative demonstrated by assisting your wedding coordinator with the installation 200 chair covers due to her not be able to complete this task alone in time for your ceremony to start.

Again, you are correct we do not permit deliveries of rental equipment, floral, decor and etc. in advance of your event date
due to our rental schedules and liability concerns. However, when your rental equipment was delivered a day early on Friday without notice or approval, we did overlook this policy and accommodated your needs to store it in the building.

Gardencourt grounds and gardens are maintain on a regular basis every Thursday and Friday throughout the growing season
by a professional landscaping crew. It is our normal procedure to notify all rental clientele that the rose gardens consist of red knock out roses and are due to bloom May - October. We do not however guarantee the roses to be in full bloom. With that being said, Mother Nature does play a role in their
appearance. Due to the heat wave and lack of rain the Louisville
area has been experiencing in the last couple of weeks it has taken a toll on all plant life.

We do want to take this opportunity to apologize if we did not meet your expectations.

    Thank you.
