Gorgeous venue on the water
We had a wonderful experience with the Laguna Cliffs Marriott and can't thank Sandy Chiu, Amanda Schirm, and Marissa Heredia enough. They're all very professional and our main contact, Amanda, is an incredibly caring and attentive individual. She responded to emails quickly and thoroughly, and was very patient dealing with a bunch of questions and requests. The staff setting up the reception was also very professional and went out of their way to check in on us throughout the night.
Our event lasted a couple of days as we were there for a holiday weekend. The rest of the Marriott staff would congratulate us when we were at lunch/other times they'd see us around the hotel (they even comp'd my lunch!). They're wonderful people at this hotel and we can't recommend them enough.
The venue was beautiful -- a stunning night overlooking the water. We were lucky to have had perfect weather that day as the heat wave had subsided and there was no wind on the outdoor Vue Lawn. We were very worried about the weather leading up to the event, so definitely keep this in mind if you're planning an outdoor event.
Overall, thank you, Laguna Cliffs. We had the most wonderful and memorable weekend and much of it is thanks to you. -

My fiance and I must have gone to 15 other venue sites, but immediately walking into the Marriott, we knew it was where we needed to get married. Nicole has been a pleasure to work with and very flexible and accomidating to our needs. -

J Sent on 08/29/2011We choose to have both our ceremony and reception outdoors on the Vue Lawn and we couldn't be happier. I can't say enough positive things about Laguna Cliffs. Every single person there treated us wonderfully throughout the whole planning process. The staff was responsive and flexible. Everyone treated us like we were the only ones there from our coordinator, Rachel, to the bellhops. Rachel worked hard to make everything happen and we are so appreciative. There were other brides getting married on the same day, but no one even saw them. The florist made beautiful flower arrangements for the ceremony. The food was phenomenal- It's nearly 3 weeks later and my guests are still talking about the great food and great wait staff. When my autistic cousin refused to eat his meal the waiter, Adam (I believe), saw there was a problem and offered to substitute his meal. My cousin was thrilled to have a full plate of fries instead of steak. Small things like that are what makes this venue so amazing. They always go above and beyond. We truly could not ask for more. We look forward to coming back to stay again and again in the years to come.

User1749788 Sent on 08/05/2014We really struggled with how many stars to give The Laguna Cliffs. Our wedding day was absolutely beautiful and we wouldn’t change a thing about the location. We got married on the Del Mar lawn then had our reception on the Vue Lawn. Everything looked stunning and the hotel florist did a wonderful job of coordinating with our other florist (Florals by Jenny). Sandy Chiu was wonderful leading up the event and was very helpful in answering our questions and helping us plan the day.
While the day was beyond perfect, there were a few aspects of working with the Laguna Cliffs that left us disappointed. We found some of the hotel staff to be unaccommodating and flat out rude. When my elderly grandfather requested to be close to his son so he could have help throughout the day, the hotel initially said it would be no problem, but actually put them at opposite ends of the resort. They were unapologetic when this was brought to their attention and would not even attempt to fix the situation. When my grandfather later lost his phone, he asked a staff member to take his room number in case it was found, and the staff replied that they were too busy.
The night manager, Gene Qineza, was also rude to us the night of the wedding. We had plumbing issues in our room for the night of the wedding, which we had brought to their attention the day before. When we brought this to the manager’s attention at the end of the night, he sent someone to fix the issue. Realizing it was not going to be a quick fix, we asked that he have him removed because we were exhausted, and it was late on our wedding night. The manager was very rude to us in return, which left us upset and frustrated.
All in all, it was a wonderful day and the location was stunning. Sandy was great and was very helpful throughout the planning process. However, the resort was lacking in customer service and left many of my guests commenting on the unfriendly nature of the staff.
