  Onyx Artists - The Speakeasies

  The Speakeasies were absolutely incredible for our wedding reception in Carmel-by-the Sea. They were incredibly talented, super versatile, and made our entire day so extra special. We would definitely recommend hiring this band for your special event.

  Gets the party started

  The Speakeasies absolutely blew our minds! Everything from start to finish was so simple and thorough and Josh and Marie from ONYX were so sweet and professional every step of the way.
  
  From the initial emails figuring out what the best options were for us- to talking us through all of the questions we had along the way and always being so quick to respond to all of our emails/texts- I’d absolutely recommend ONYX Artists for any event you need a live band for.
  
  We had them play for both a seated dinner portion and a dance set and they were both perfect. Classy and not too loud when we needed it mellow and so fun when everyone got on the dance floor. We got so many compliments and we’ve just been looking for any excuse to hire them again :)

  A most perfect addition to our evening!!

  We could not have been happier to have Oh La La as part of our wedding.
  From the moment my husband and I contacted them, their responsiveness and willingness to learn (fulfilling my outlandish request to learn a classical version of Cardi Bs Bodak Yellow to walk down the aisle to- they did and it was AMAZING!- and keeping it a surprise from my fiance who was their sole point of contact till then), were unrivaled. They are truly talented group of musicians that you will not regret having as part of your day!!

  A highlight at our wedding! Must book!

  Marie and Onyx went above and beyond to make our wedding vision come to life. My guests tell me they were a highlight. The only thing I would’ve done differently would be to have kept them singing for a lot longer ;) Easy to work with, great sound and style. Definitely recommend.

  Fabulous Music for a Classy Evening!

  Marie and the Oh La La group were absolutely a pleasure to work with! We were in touch with Marie in particular for booking the band for our wedding and were impressed by the speed and professionalism of her replies.
  
  Not to mention, the music played by the band is divine?! For the special requests the band was flexible and we enjoyed some of our favorite songs. What I loved was the band's flexibility - they can play some classics, bossa nova, french songs, and even some Buble.
  
  My husband and I were looking to have a band that can play classy tunes and create a lovely atmosphere. They did just that! Can I also say Marie is such a charming and wonderful person. If we ever need to hire a band for an event we will absolutely choose Oh La La!!

  Unbelievable

  Our experience with Onyx Artists and particularly Oh La La (who played at our wedding), was absolutely exceptional. There's only so much you can plan for a wedding and at a certain point you just have to trust that people will show up and do the job well and Onyx and Oh La La were such professionals from day one. What they needed for music and song choice and when they needed it were crystal clear, communications were flawless both with us and with our other vendors, we felt totally comfortable talking with Marie about any concerns we had and the music - man can these guys play! We gave them our song choices (we had 3-4 in the package we had purchased) then mentioned we'd be doing a horrah and that a recording would be totally fine, but they insisted they'd do it live, even though we'd used up our requests, and played the best horrah our guests had been a part of. More than a few of the covers we asked them to do as well weren't easy ones (This Must Be the Place - Talking Heads, "We like this jazz piano song but could it be just acoustic guitar, no vocals, kind of like..." - they nailed them. The best thing you can do when working with Onyx (and you should book Oh La La) is to give them what they need and then step back and let them work, they're so good at what they do, read the room so well, and are genuinely committed to making the event a success. We're so incredibly glad that we were able to work with them, and we'd do it again in a heartbeat.

  Amazing music- Oh La La made our wedding so special and we are so grateful!

  Working with Oh La La was a pleasure every step of the way. The music was definitely a huge highlight of our wedding- we knew we wanted music that was danceable, fun, but not over the top loud or contemporary- Oh La La was exactly what we were looking for but couldn't articulate. The music and performance was unique and so special. Every song pulled everyone into the dance floor, and our song requests were better than we could have hoped for. Our families and friends continue to rave about Oh La La. We more than 100% reccomend Oh La La- we are so happy we found them!

  A band like no other...

  We hired Oh La La through Onyx artists, and they were simply amazing. If you're listened to any of the videos, then I don't need to tell you what a wonderful voice Marie has. She and her bandmates were beyond talented and she made planning a pleasure (no small feat since we were doing so from abroad) Oh La La kept us and our guests dancing all night and their performance made our wedding that much better. What other band do you know that would break into "Everybody Walk The Dinosaur" when a guest gets on the dance floor in a dinosaur outfit?

  Absolutely spectacular music from the singular best group you could work with.

  There should be ten stars.
  There should be one hundred stars.
  There should be ONE THOUSAND STARS for this incredible team and their service.
  
  Our wedding's music was the best that anyone had ever experienced, and it is 1,000% due to the skill and professionalism of Onyx artists.
  They were able to find us a band that could Hora, swing, and groove. As musicians ourselves, we have an extremely high standard. This band was literally people we would (and have since!!) HIRE ourselves. Nobody in their entire life had ever experienced a band this good at a wedding, and to this day I'm still so proud of it.
  
  Most of all, and I say this to you, oh dear bride or groom who is likely up to your ears in stressful wedding details: Josh and Marie are CONSUMMATE professionals who were able to field my parents' confusion and change of requests all over the place. They helped us to scale the group, spoke with our wedding planner, and made the entire process seamless and beautiful. They knew the kind of speakers and equipment we needed, were prepared for our outdoor ceremony and then completely accommodated when it rained and the whole thing went inside. They were so patient and loving with us, and, again in the end provided the singular best wedding band that anyone had ever experienced, myself included.
  
  I know, 1138 words in, I sound a little loopy. But that's honestly how enthusiastic I am, even 8 months out from our wedding. I did a ton of research, and I'm sure that you are doing the same. Stop it now and call Josh and Marie. You'll thank me. And I'll just never stop thanking them.

  Never danced so much in my life!

  The Big Woozy Band were very professional, and all the musicians were particularly sweet.
  But more than anything, THEY KEPT US DANCING FOR 4 HOURS STRAIGHT!!! Ernie, the lead singer, has the most incredible voice, it's like there's nothing he can't sing. They were the secret in the recipe that made all the difference!!
  Communication with Marie from the agency was a breeze, and everything was set up very quickly, and easily.
  Thank you Onyx and thank you the Woozies! Couldn't have dreamt for a better band!!

  Oh La La and front woman Marie were unbelievable at our wedding. I initially contacted Marie about performing and she responded to me right away. A month or two later we wanted to add another musician to the 5 piece ensemble and she said no problem. We met with her in the city for drinks and to go over some ideas. She is an amazing person all around, and has a beautiful voice. She sang in English, French, and Portuguese. She and her band even learned three new songs at our request to play their own rendition at our wedding. People were blown away when they saw a live 6-piece band at our cocktail hour. It was truly a treat for us to have them at our wedding. Can’t wait to see them again at a public performance. Highly recommended.

  We recently had the Oh La La jazz band and another Onyx Artist male vocalist perform the music for our Brooklyn wedding reception and they were FANTASTIC! They had the perfect blend of various jazz selections--from classics to more modern pieces. Everyone really enjoyed themselves, from our friends (late 20s to early 30s) to our families and older guests. They were great at reading the room and keeping the music soothing and enjoyable during dinner to turning up the energy and getting EVERYONE on the dance floor and keeping them there through the end of the night. We couldn't have been happier with our choice to go with Onyx Artists. They are all such talented and fun musicians and really know what they're doing at a wedding. Their renditions of Valerie and Superstition stole the night! Thank you again!!!

  Marie Michele and Oh La La are everything we could of dreamed for in a band and so much more. With her style, grace and beautiful vocals and the bands unique genres range made our wedding night even more magical than we imagined. Choosing a band over a Dj was a big commitment, with Marie Michele and Oh La La we never regretted this decision. I highly recommend them and I hope we get the chance to hire them again in the future!

  We hired Bellatonic as our band for our wedding ceremony and reception, and hired Marie to play the piano during the band's breaks. It was one of the best choices we made when planning our wedding - they were fantastic. Throughout the whole planning process, Marie was wonderful to work with; she was always quick in her responses and was very willing to work with us. Cara, the singer for Bellatonic, Skyped with us from Europe to talk to us before we even booked her. Cara and Marie worked with us to generate a playlist for the night that was based on our favorite songs, and took careful note of the fact that we wanted them to read the room to figure out what to play next - we didn't want dance music playing if no one was getting up to dance! Cara MC'd the wedding and did a perfect job, and Bellatonic learned special songs for our ceremony and first dance. People were saying all night how amazing the music was, and we're getting comments about it weeks later. If you hire Bellatonic, definitely hire Marie to play during the breaks the band takes - it was a really nice touch for our guests. We will be hiring Bellatonic the next time we need live music for an event, and will be recommending them to all of our friends with upcoming weddings (although we think the ones that were at our wedding don't need any further encouragement to book them!). They really made our wedding special and we can't thank them enough for the amazing job they did.

  Booked Oh La La from Onyx Artists and they were absolutely amazing. They are supremely talented and wonderful to work with. We did our research carefully, and you'll get MORE than you see in their demo videos online. At our reception we didn't quite have it altogether with the schedule/coordination, but Oh La La expertly fixed all that by extending songs and waiting for new cues. Marie stayed in touch with us throughout the process. Don't think twice about booking them for your event, look no further than this band especially if you love Jazz and French music. Worth every penny.

  If you are into jazz (even if you're not) and want a rememberable class act so you're wedding is unforgettable I would highly recommend Oh Lala. You can tell Marie and her band were all born to play jazz. They have a presence and a personality and it shines when they play jazz together. They arrived earlier and went the extra mile by learning on very short notice two songs my now husband wanted to hear. That was a beautiful gift from Oh Lala. I can not say enough great things about the band. I hope one day they create their own original or cover music as I would definitely buy their album. If I were to give advice to a couple getting married I would say this. If you want a wedding that is classy, classic, original, beautiful, memorable, enjoyable, music you can dance to I would go with Oh Lala. You won't be disappointed.

  We hired Ohlala for our wedding and they were fantastic. They perfectly matched the tone of the event (black tie wedding at a French bistro in NYC) and did a great job with our first dance and with keeping everyone dancing. I can't tell you how many compliments we got. Highly recommend!
