Plantation On The Bay

STAY FAR AWAY from Plantation on the Bay and conducting any sort of business with Kim Wiethoff or Susan Heflin. In April of 2019 My fiancé and I met with these ladies about having our wedding at Plantation on the Bay. We were very excited to begin or wedding planning process, however these ladies completely ruined any sort of happiness or enjoyment that comes from that process. At the initial meeting they boasted how involved in the process they would be and how they would become a part of our family over time. As the wedding planning process progressed, the ONLY contact received from POTB was inquiries about getting paid. Never to check in with the wedding planning, help coordinate, or answer questions like they said they would. As we gave them money, we kept track of our finances. In August they sent an invoice that had the incorrect balance, stating we owed $2,000 more than what our personal records showed. Upon calling them, they denied getting that payment. We had to call our bank, where they were able to provide us with the information on the money, proving it did indeed go into their account ( had Kim’s signature on it), after we sent them this they altered the balance, jokingly saying “Glad we didn’t lose the check!”. Not a reassuring statement you should make to a customer. They made no attempt to look for the check leaving that on us. Fastforward to October, we decided to postpone our wedding due to family issues that arised. Once we inquired about any refunds on the money we had given them, damn near $10,000, they immediately became defensive said no refunds would be possible. At this point I asked for a copy of our signed contract, because this was the first time we were hearing about a no refund policy. Before any money is exchanged the refund policy should be addressed. In our initial meeting they talked about receiving percentage of your money, as the date grows closer to the wedding date that percent decreases. When asked about this they completely dismissed it. They failed to provide us with a contract, which yes, I know, we should have realized early on was a problem. We were 20 years old and excited about getting married, we didn’t think about all the leagal paperwork involved in doing business with someone. We were 7 months away when we decided to postpone our wedding giving them plenty of time to reschedule the day. At this point we had given them almost $10,000 and the only thing they had done for us was written our date on the calendar. It took weeks for them to get back to me before they told me they do not actually have a contract that I signed. Every excuse they gave during those weeks was that Kim the owner was out of town or on vacation. They neglected to provide us with a contract at the very beginning because these ladies are extremely unprofessional. In our communications about getting a refund they told me it was not happening and that they would see me in court before I get any of my money back. So I got a lawyer and fought them. They are a business, they have insurance for this kind of thing. My fiancé and I are 20 years old, we work full-time and go to college full-time. The money we gave them was all we had. Plantation on the Bay put us through months of negotiation and arguing to get back only HALF of our money. These ladies are unprofessional extremely rude and will not be of any service to you and your wedding. Upon reading other reviews of weddings at Plantation on the Bay you will see that these ladies showed up to weddings in yoga pants and tennis shoes, they did not have the venue up to standards, faucets in the bathrooms not working, grass left un-cut. On your wedding day do you want everything to be perfect and having your wedding here is a sure fire way to live with regret. Plantation on the bay is neglectful unprofessional and rude.We were so excited for our happily ever after and what these ladies have done, how they chose to conduct business has completely ruined my wedding planning process and broken our hearts.
