    Amazing Kentucky Derby Wedding

    We hosted our wedding at the Marriott Downtown Providence on Saturday, May 4, 2019. We wanted a Kentucky Derby wedding and that is exactly what we got! Our event manager, Nicole, was simply amazing. We were reluctant to have a hotel wedding for all the obvious reasons. Most importantly we were concerned that a well know hotel would be challenged with a theme wedding vs. a more traditional celebration. All of our fears were quickly put to rest. The overall planning, pricing, menu selection, specialty cocktails (including mint juleps and Oaks Lilies), room design, etc. could not have been simpler. The one thing that most impressed me is that I never heard NO, I was not reminded of "rules and policies". That being said, we did not ask for anything outrageous, but a theme wedding does require some thinking outside of the box (such as placing custom posters over existing ballroom art and using authentic mint julep glasses). This was no problem for the Marriott staff. We could not be happier with the end result. It was everything we hoped for. Our guests truly enjoyed our wedding and so did we! If you are on the fence about this hotel as your venue, my advice is to go for it. The guest rooms were fabulous, many recently updated, the outdoor space is perfect for photos and the food was incredible! The bar is also a great place to meet up with friends (say hello to Amber for us) staying at the hotel and the restaurant served up a great breakfast buffet for a reasonable cost. Overall, this hotel is a perfect venue. Did I mention free parking for your guests? I could go on and on!

    Best experience ever! We wish we could do it again!

    Where do I even begin? My husband and I had our dream fairytale wedding, and it was all because of this venue. We had a large guest count, we were planning for about 400 people. This meant lots of places couldn’t fit our wedding. The places that could fit, we couldn’t afford, or we didn’t like. I wanted to know that the person that was taking care of the details of my wedding cared as much about it as I did. Someone with experience and dedication, and was approachable and easy to work with. We were about a year and a half away, and I met Donna Diorio, the wedding coordinator at the Providence Marriott Downtown. Donna was perfect. She was loving, and cared so much. She had done this a million times, and had lots of ideas, but also took my ideas and made them a reality. Donna unfortunately retired that year, but left behind a wonderful predecessor in her place. Nicole McCreadie is just like Donna in the sense that she is so well organized, and can make your dreams into reality. She kept me organized from every freaking out email, to when I was totally confused about my timeline and was borderline late to send out my invites! She helped me through every step of the way. She even custom made menus to put at every plate setting. She cared so much, and just wanted us to have the night of our dreams. We had our wedding day on HER 29th birthday, and she was there almost the ENTIRE NIGHT! That is dedication. She had her wedding in the same venue, that’s how you know she loves what she does. The food was FANTASTIC! We had a food tasting and brought two people from both of our families to help us decide on food. When you go for your own tasting, come hungry because you will leave so full. I brought her tubs of decorations and she ran with it. She decorated the whole venue better than we thought it could look. I highly recommend the air walls with drapes on the ceiling. We had to have cocktail hour inside because of rain, but it was so elegant. We had signature cocktails and white glove passed Hors d’oeuvres. The next morning we hosted an after wedding brunch. Everyone who spent the night at the hotel got a little goodie bag that we made. The front desk made sure to give those out. We partied all night long, and could have gone longer if we wanted to. The venue is so accommodating to the bride and groom, it’s incredible. ON TOP OF THAT, we had a suite on the top floor the whole weekend! My husband stayed there the night before our wedding, and all the groomsmen got ready there the morning of. ONE YEAR LATER and they give you a night for your anniversary! We used our Marriott points from the wedding to book an extra night. So we stayed from Friday to Sunday to celebrate out first anniversary. Nicole left champagne out for us with fruit and cheese, and a note with little goodies for the weekend that we were there. We spent the weekend in the pool, walking the halls, and sitting in the ballroom that was once our reception. We reminisced the whole weekend, and couldn’t believe how fast a year goes by. We can’t stress enough how much we LOVE THE PROVIDENCE MARRIOTT DOWNTOWN. We will forever cherish it as the place we celebrated our wedding, and we will plan to go back for anniversaries going forward. It was truly a magical and easy experience. If you are looking for a fabulous location, food, service, and accommodations, look no further. You found it here at the Marriott.

    My husband and I recently had our wedding at the Providence Marriott Downtown. I have to say, working with everyone there made it for an extremely easy wedding to plan and a fabulous wedding weekend. Donna DiOrio, director of catering was an absolute joy to work with throughout the 9 months that we were planning our wedding. Every time we had a questions, concern, or uncertainty she was there to help us through it. She truly made the wedding planning process easy and enjoyable. I truly felt like we were a top priority the weekend of our wedding and she made me feel at ease during what could have been a stressful time.
    As we attended the Marriott on occasion throughout the planning process, we had the fortunate experience of dining in their restaurant, BlueFin Grille. We ate their 3 times (including our tasting) and each time we have the pleasure of having Kimee as our waitress. Kimee was extremely knowledgeable about the food menu and drink menu. She was able to make numerous suggestions to us that were all delicious. She was a joy to speak with and get to know along the way.
    The day of our wedding we had the privilege of working with another member of Donna's team, Donnie. Donnie was available to us the entire evening of our wedding. Whatever my husband and I needed, he was able to make sure it happened. He was constantly checking in on us to make sure we ate, had a drink, etc. If there was a request we had, he was the guy to make it happen. Not only was he very attentive but he was funny, kind, and efficient. Contacting Donnie and his team the day after our wedding was also a breeze. They had all of our belongings packed up for us and we didn't have to do a thing! We stayed at the Marriott for 2 evenings after our wedding and although the event was over we were clearly valued customers. Seeing Donnie and Donna after the event, they were sure to follow up with us to make sure we didn't need anything else. They truly made our experience magical!

    Donna: Katie & Anthony’s wedding was absolutely MAGICAL! I don’t think I stopped smiling the entire evening! Every single detail was perfect! I honestly expected it, having known you for so many years and knowing how amazing you are and how detail oriented….but actually FEELING it that evening….it was over the top!

    The ballroom looked like a fairy tale! You orchestrated everything so well and your calm demeanor was so appreciated. People even commented to me that your waitstaff could not have been any nicer. Aqua was perfect for the cocktail hour! I could go on and on and on. Really. I’m still on cloud nine!

    Katie and Anthony and Anthony’s Mom and Dad came back to my house on Sunday and we were all gushing about every single detail. Thank you so so very much! I just adore you. My heart is so full. This was the best experience ever!

    Donna, Chef Franco, and the rest of the Marriott staff (too many wonderful people to name.. don't want to forget anyone) could not do enough to make my daughter's wedding flawless!!!
    My family has known Donna for years. We have hosted many weddings, parties, and fundraisers at the hotel. When our daughter got engaged last December, Donna was the ONLY person I called to book her wedding. It didn't even enter our minds to do her wedding anywhere else.
    She, along with her staff, went above and beyond to accommodate our vendors and our requests and our out-of-town guests.
    Donna was able to strike that perfect balance for all of our guests.. the young, the young at heart, the foodies, and the partiers. Everyone had a great time! It was non-stop fun!
    Donna brought her many years of experience, patience, suggestions, advice, but most of all, her caring to make our daughter's wedding one of (if not THE) happiest days of our lives.
    After all the numerous phone calls, emails, and planning over the past 10 months, that day, I was a guest. I had 100000% confidence in Donna and her staff that it would be a flawless event and it was!

    Impeccable service and a delicious meal thanks to Chef Franco.. One of our guests is a restaurant owner himself and commented at how impressed he was with the meal from start to finish.

    We loved everything about working with the Marriott for our wedding reception. Thanks to the whole team - we worked with Donna, Paul and Lynne - everything went so smoothly. We had a stress free wedding weekend because of them! We decided to serve breakfast for dinner, and they were beyond accommodating and really helped to make our reception unique and fun. For the amount and variety of food and drinks we served, I thought the costs were very reasonable compared to other places we looked at. The Chef is awesome, and was willing to make last minute changes to the menu two days before! The food was delicious (from what I hear – didn’t get to eat much as the bride!), and everyone really loved Aqua for the cocktail hour. Even in April, the heat lamps and fire pits made it nice. We stayed over through the weekend, and the hotel itself is beautiful, with a great bar and restaurant and great guest rooms. Wish I could plan weddings with these guys all the time! :)

    Terry, Jennifer, Brandon, Jamie and I want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the most AMAZING wedding experience anyone could hope for! Your attention to us through this whole experience was so comforting because we truly felt our wedding would be just perfect..and it was! All of our family and friends were just thrilled with every detail that you put together...with the dessert drink and bar being the piece de resistance! But it's the little things that only we know about that make it even more special. You really put your heart into what you do...that is the gift!

    Wow! So Happy we booked here! Special THANK YOU to wedding coordinator, Donna DiOrio, for all you did to make our son's wedding a wonderful event. Your accommodations and help from the first day through Saturday was very special to us and is so much appreciated. We received MANYcompliments on the food and the service. Many loved the venue for the ceremony and the concept of having everything in one place. The reception ballroom was beautiful.

    A wedding is such a big, important event. From A-Z, Donna and the staff at Providence Marriott provide wonderful direction, and put on a first-class event. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

    We had our ceremony and reception here, both the meal & service was beyond exceptional! During our initial tasting prior to the wedding, we informed Chef Franco and the wedding coordinator Donna D'Orio that our family would be in from Italy and the importance of eating good food. Not only did he and his staff deliver AMAZING food, they provided EXCELLENT service. My family is particularly fussy about pasta... needless to say, they all had a second plate and loved the entire meal!! Donna and her staff were EXCEPTIONAL....she listened to every detail and was extremely patient considering I'm not a good planner at all!! Well thanks to her and her team, our day was truly my dream wedding. Donna went above and beyond to make sure that everything detail was perfect! We have been to a million weddings, but I have to say, the quality of food, service & accommodations was the best I've ever experienced. Our guests have also expressed how much they loved this experience. I can't wait to have another event here!!! xo

    My experience at the providence Marriott for my post wedding event was amazing.. Donna and her team answer every question in a fast/ professional manner.. My wedding event was not the norm cause we eloped in Mexico so changing our structure to our event was easy and effortless with donna's expertise.. The day of our event was beautiful our guests where so impressed with the grand ballroom and the cabana.. We loved everything..Paul and his team did an fabulous job communicating and making sure everything was prefect.. Thank you , thank you, thank you for such excellent service.. I would highly recommend this venue and Donna to anyone looking to have an event or wedding you will not be disappointed.. This team works very hard at putting you first and making you special..

    Our church recently held its first fashion show and dinner at the Marriott. I simply cannot say enough about the professionalism of the entire staff, from Donna who handled our event to the gentlemen who set up the runway and patiently dealt with all our requests. The food was delicious, the service prompt, and the management friendly and accommodating. All our guests were treated like royalty and are still commenting on the event weeks later. We will definitely be back next year!

    My wedding at the Providence Marriott Downtown was an absolute dream come true. Donna and her staff worked tirelessly to make sure that I was completely satisfied in every aspect. They constantly met and exceeded my expectations. The day of the wedding, they took care of absolutely everything so that I could enjoy my evening - and my guests and I certainly did! The food was delicious, the ambiance was perfect, and the dessert table was unbelievable. Choosing the Providence Marriott Downtown was the best decision that I made in terms of planning my wedding.     Anyone who works with event manager, Donna DiOrio at the Providence Marriott can count on receiving the highest level of service to the most minute detail. We could ask her any quiestion (even seemingly ridiculous ones) and she responded quickly with her great amount of knowledge and experience. Her professionalism and skills should be commended.     My wedding was perfect and stress free. From the planning stage to the actual day it was the day we envisioned. Our wedding coordinator Donna DiOrio was priceless, she took all our requests and desires with ease and followed through to perfection. Her professionalism and knowledge made us feel our day would be what we always thought it would be. I highly recommend the Marriott for weddings and special events.

    I had the pleasure of working with Donna DiOrio for my wedding reception. Donna is a true professional who provided me with her expertise, patience, time, and respect. Donna was responsive to my needs and abundance of questions. She always responded to my phone calls and emails promptly which gave me the confidence of knowing I choose the right venue for my “big day.” When speaking with Donna I never felt rushed and she always treated me as if I was her only customer. Without hesitation, I highly recommend the Marriott and with great confidence know that your event planned with Donna will be flawless.

    We were so glad that we had our wedding at The Providence Marriott. We worked with Donna DiOrio and she was so attentive, easy to get in touch with, and was very easy to work with. The location was perfect because we had guests from all over attend our wedding, and we could easily set up hotel accommodations, and no one had to drive after the wedding. The food was delicious, and our guests continue to talk about our amazing dessert station that we had which was simply beautiful! I highly recommend The Providence Marriott for your wedding venue!

    The staff at the Marriott did an outstanding job at making our wedding reception the most spectacular night. I had a particular expectation of what I wanted the night to be, and it went beyond my dreams. I could not have imagined working with anyone other than Donna to plan such an important event. My mother and I immediately felt a connection and trust with her; over the course of planning it felt like she had been a close family friend for years! She was there for us at any time to answer any question or assist with any detail, regardless of how minor or major it may have been. And believe me, we had questions!!

    Everything was set up so perfectly as you entered cocktail hour and Aqua was the perfect setting! The ballroom was stunning... It literally took our breath away. The food was fabulous, the staff was friendly and prompt, and the night went perfectly. My husband and I were treated like celebrities the entire evening! Everything down to the last detail of the dessert station and candy bar was perfect and beyond what we hoped for! This is most certainly the place, and these are the people you want to work with, to celebrate life's important occasions.

    Donna DiOrio assisted us with our wedding planning and reception in the Grand Ballroom at the Providence Marriott and our cocktail reception poolside at Aqua. It was fabulous from the planning to the end of our wedding night. Donna and her staff were extremely attentive, professional, and provided us with top-of-the-line service. Donna DiOrio was meticulous with every detail and truly made our wedding night special. The hors d'oeuvres and drinks were delicious. The dinner was excellent from the salad to the main course. The doors that opened to the array of desserts at our dessert table will forever be imprinted on our minds. The table was aesthetically pleasing to the eye and the palette. Our guests still brag about the dessert display one year later. We couldn't be more satisfied with our wedding experience at the Providence Marriott and look forward to returning for wonderful memories of our special day.

    Having our wedding at the Providence Marriott was just magical! All aspects of the entire weekend we great. Donna, Charlene, the banquet manager, the chef and ALL their servers and staff were so easy to work with and very professional. The delicious meal and beautiful dessert display were impressive. The staff made sure all our needs were taken care of. We were so pleased from the moment we arrived for the wedding to the breakfast the following morning. It was a perfect weekend. Our guests were very impressed with the whole facility.
    Since the wedding, we have recommended the hotel to many friends. We most recently recommended the Providence Marriott to a reunion committee, and they have booked the function for next year. . We look forward to have many more events at the Providence Marriott.

    Below is a letter that my husband and I wrote to Marriott to show our appreciation and gratitude:

    Hello Donna & Holly,

    We just celebrated our 2 year anniversary and we are excited to take the time to thank you properly for all you did to make our wedding day extraordinary. It is not every person's luxury to have a wedding at the Providence Marriott. It was a delight to have a team of professionals to help us create the day we will never forget.

    When Led Zeppelin's "Whole 'lotta love" started to play I remember Holly guiding us to the doors and knew a little liquid courage was in order. When Donna met with us the first time her confident advice eased our head-full of questions. Since the beginning- pulling our name out of the top hat- to the final song at our reception we agreed our day could not have been better.

    We know it is your profession to be great event coordinators, but for a couple like us your poise and expertise made the difference from great to amazing. How many stories have we heard about a wedding coordinator that just didn't understand the bride and groom? You have a great team. The bartenders and wait-staff at Aqua knew how to keep the guests pleased and relaxed. At dinner, the servers and maître d' were prompt and accepted requests pleasantly.
    We hope you accept our letter and accompanying pictures as our "thank you" for the most amazing wedding that has given us memories to last a lifetime.

    Donna at the Marriott is amazing. Everything we wanted for our special day was easily attainable with the Marriott. Outside the cocktail hour at AQUA was superb. If you want a place in downtown providence that holds a lot of people, has good food and great team of people to work with, this is your place :)

    The Providence Marriott hosted our Rehearsal Dinner, Wedding Ceremony & Reception, as well as 30 rooms for our closest family & friends.
    Everything from start to finish was flawless! We are soo happy we choose the Marriott as our wedding venue. Our wedding coordinator, Lynne, made everything so easy & she was a true pleasure to work with. Over 1 year later our friends & family are still raving about the fabulous time they had at our wedding celebration!
    Please visit them today for a tour of their beautiful ballroom & Aqua Lounge, you will not be disappointed!

    The Marriott was so amazing, they gave me the wedding of my dreams from the food to the decorations. They were on top of everything, I didnt worry about a thing. They were so nice and actually cared about MY wedding, I would highly recommend them to anyone.

    Working with Nicole was a bride's dream!

    Where do I begin! My partner and I needed to find a new wedding venue just six months before our wedding date. We already had a wedding block at the Providence Marriott Downtown and were ecstatic when Nicole McCreadie, Social Catering Sales Manager, replied enthusiastically that the ballroom was available and they could meet our needs. We promptly met to come up with a game plan- which was an entire re-haul of our plans from our original venue. What could have been an incredibly stressful and confusing time quickly became a pairs dream! Nicole was thoughtful, understanding, and helpful. She made sure we stayed within our anticipated budget and made suggestions along the way about things we hadn't yet thought of or were pushed aside with finding a new venue. It made sense for us to hold everything in one location for our majority out-of-town guests. In addition to the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, we held the ceremony rehearsal and dinner at the Marriott. We were able to customize the rehearsal dinner menu based on the dishes we tried (and loved, but couldn't choose from!) for the reception dinners. Chef Franco's meals were excellent and everyone raved about the food- from the rehearsal to the cocktail hour to the reception, not one person went hungry or complained.
    The wedding packages are the way to go as the inclusive and detail-oriented staff were beyond amazing. To say the wedding was easy and convenient is an understatement; we had round the clock check-ins and felt that each guest was treated with respect and care. The hotel was busier than I anticipated it would be on Labor Weekend, but everything still went according to plan. The outdoor pool and bar were busy, but we still had a private space for our outdoor cocktail hour at AQUA. The ballroom was decorated beautifully with the items we provided and there were draping, uplighting, and chair rental options directly through Nicole/the Marriott that made setup and design a breeze. Their offerings also alleviated our need for help from family and friends, who initially were going to chip in for setup in our original wedding plan. Our uncle made a custom backdrop and our cousin brought in and made the floral arrangements, bouquet, etc.; the Marriott was very accommodating to the custom elements we wanted to keep from our original plan. We customized our beer selection (per the groom's request!) and felt that the space could easily have accommodated our 160+ invited guests, though we had fewer attend.
    For 2020 weddings, I recommend you take a visit to see Nicole, check out the Bluefin Grille, AQUA, and review the package options. The space is beautiful and even though we thought about moving our wedding date to late fall/winter, we were able to envision a perfect wedding no matter the season once we took a tour!

    I absolutely LOVED my wedding at the Marriott

    Myself, my husband, and our guests absolutely loved our wedding at the Providence Marriott Downtown. A perk of this venue is that everything (rehearsal dinner, getting ready, ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, after party, honeymoon suite) is all in one place. While everything was at the hotel, each event had its own unique space which made everything feel so special. Our ceremony was in the Marquis room (which dresses up very nicely), cocktail hour was outside in the pool/courtyard/deck area, the reception was in the grand ballroom, and our after party was even at the bar/restaurant in the hotel lobby. This venue is seriously PERFECT for anyone who wants the convenience of having everything all in one place without anything feeling cramped. Nicole, the wedding coordinator who works for the Marriott, is AMAZING. She is very responsive, helpful, kind, and she knows her stuff. She listened to everything we wanted and made sure the day went off without a hitch. She made the year of planning and the day itself as stress-free as possible. Nicole alone is reason enough to have your wedding at the Marriott. The venue itself is lovely. I really wanted a hotel wedding and a lot of the hotels we looked at didn't even come close to the elegance that the Marriott has. Cocktail hour outside in the gorgeous pool area was a hit with our guests and the grand ballroom comfortably fit our 140 guests. The food at the venue is UNREAL. It is seriously SO GOOD. Appetizers, soup, entrees, desserts all got rave reviews from ourselves and our guests. It's absolutely delicious and the portions are fantastic. Seriously - it's like real restaurant food and not at all your typical wedding food. The wait staff was also extremely kind, professional, and accommodating. I highly recommend the Providence Marriott Downtown if you're looking for a hotel wedding where everything can be in one place and where the food is delicious. The whole planning process was extremely easy with Nicole and the Marriott and I am so happy with how everything turned out.
