  The most delicious food

  My husband and I are so glad we chose Purple Onion to cater our rehearsal brunch and wedding! The food was superb and Phoebe was a dream to work with. We look forward to having them cater for our events in the future; the quality of the product and the service is unmatched.

  Purple Onion is the best!

  Margaret and the Purple Onion team made our wedding day spectacular! We had various wedding guests tell us that we had the best food they ever had at a wedding. The tasting process was fabulous and the flexibility to make changes to the menu was much appreciated. We had a big wedding with lots of moving parts and this catering team handled it all well. We would definitely recommend this company!

  Delicious Food, Wonderful Staff, A Must Hire!

  We had an exceptional experience working with Purple Onion to cater our wedding from beginning to end! My husband and I are vegetarian and we wanted our menu to be something that both we and our meat-eating family members would love. The menu they helped us put together exceeded all expectations! They were incredibly flexible and open to our feedback to make it exactly what we envisioned. Throughout the process, their team was always friendly and responsive when we wanted to tweak or swap something. We had so much fun at our tasting and on wedding day, every single staff member was conscientious and professional. They are well established in the catering space and it shows in their efficiency and care for presentation. The whole night we got compliments on the food including "I can't believe this is vegetarian, it's SO good!" and "We've been to 4 weddings this year and your food is the best by far!". What more could you hope for! The care that they put into our event from the pre-ceremony refreshing drinks to the gorgeous centerpieces they helped set up and of course to the insanely delicious food they made really took our event over the top. We couldn't recommend them more highly for your next catered event!

  Delicious, stress free food

  I used Purple Onion Catering for my wedding, and they were absolutely fantastic!! The service was on point, the food was delicious and they allowed us to adapt our menu to suit our tastes (for example, I wanted custom mocktails!). But most importantly, they could handle my life-threatening peanut allergy. They completely understood and were accommodating, "bride has peanut allergy" was marked on every catering sheet. I didn't have to worry about what I was eating on my wedding day and that meant the WORLD to me. Thank you Purple Onion for a delicious and stress-free wedding reception :)

  Great experience with wedding catering!

  Purple Onion provided incredible catering services for our wedding! From our first tasting with Purple Onion, we knew that Cassie, Elle, and the rest of the team at Purple Onion were perfect for us. The food was incredible, and the team was super friendly and helpful. With catering representing such a large part of the wedding budget we really appreciated how Purple Onion worked with us to create a menu and service that fit into our budget while creating a perfect experience for us and our guests. Their patience with us while we went back in forth on a number of options was exceptional. The service they provided at the wedding was very professional and the food was super tasty! Everyone raved about the hors d'oeuvres especially

  For my daughter’s wedding, we selected Purple Onion as our caterer for the cocktail and dinner experience. We are so glad we did! It was a wonderful experience from the very beginning. The tastings were so much fun and with so many delicious options, it was difficult to narrow down the menu! What an amazing staff; professional, attentive, and so helpful. The appetizers were so much fun, from Chicken-Waffle cones to the Sangria Watermelon bites which were a crowd favorite! The plated dinner was excellent; hot and delicious. I am still receiving texts from guests complimenting the food and the staff. I would highly recommend these vendors for your catering needs, as they will not disappoint!

  Purple Onion is the best in Northern Virginia, hands down!

  Purple Onion are amazing professionals and hands-down the best wedding food I've had and had all my guests (and even our other vendors!) raving. Working with them from the beginning was a breeze, our tasting went smoothly & they were so responsive and pleasant. Our tasting was amazing and that deliciousness continued at our wedding! The team we worked with was so kind, they shared their expertise and were so helpful when we had any questions. They were also supportive if we had any worries on dietary restrictions and regarding RSVPs. I also want to give them a shoutout on being so accommodating to a guests we had with a disabilities- we flagged that we would need no chairs for our guests that use wheelchairs & a guest who has trouble sitting, they quickly worked with the rental team & accommodated and made sure the guests experiences were totally fine. To end, the food was DELICIOUS! I had countless people come up to me and say it was the best wedding food they'd ever had. The vegan dish was sooo good, I had carnivores saying it was amazing! And the service, was white glove. Everyone from the leads (thanks Tala & Greg!!! Y'all are rock stars), to the servers, to the bartenders were kind, professional, and made us and our guests feel so at home. Thank you Purple Onion!!!

  I absolutely loved Purple Onion! We used them to cater our wedding based on the recommendations of our planner and tons of positive online reviews. And they really lived up to all the recommendations. The people we worked with were all so friendly and knowledgeable, I loved the tasting experience, and the fact that we got to try literally all the food that was served at our wedding. And the food itself was DELICIOUS! Multiple people told us the food was amazing. At the end of the night, they even boxed up extras for us to take home!
  
  The best part though was that they specifically made a few cultural dishes for us! We gave them a few recipes of dishes specific to my country, and they tried them all! We ended up picking just one (because the other appetizers they had were just too good), but the fact that they were willing to try and then made them for our wedding impressed me so much. I 100% recommend Purple Onion!

  Purple onion did an amazing job for our wedding! When they prepared our proposal, it had so many delicious options to choose from! We chose to do a duo plated meal meaning our guests got both a chicken and beef option so they didn’t have to choose! Which made it super easy the day of the wedding since 95% of our guests chose that. When we did our tasting, everything tasted AMAZING! It was so hard to narrow it down. The food tasted just as amazing the day of our wedding! We had so many compliments about how delicious our food was. Someone told us they wanted to lick their plate it was so good haha. They also made our wedding cake, which we just wanted a simple cake for us to cut but that came out gorgeous! There service was superb! We had someone checking on us all night asking if we needed anything and getting us drinks, etc. definitely so happy we chose purple onion as our caterer!

  Outstanding food and service!!

  Our daughter and son in law were married at Stone Tower Winery in October. We interviewed a number of caterers but ultimately selected Purple Onion which was the best decision!! The service and responsiveness of Paige and Delorvy was outstanding. Delorvy ultimately took the lead on the wedding. She was personable and genuinely cared about making the wedding special! Her attention to detail was exceptional. With over 200 guests, Purple Onion provided delicious hot dinners. Our guests praised the food!! Delorvy made sure the bride and groom got to taste the food. Every detail was exceptional and if we need to hire a caterer for another event, we will definitely go back to Purple Onion!! They really made our daughter’s wedding with their service and the quality of the food!

  We had a great experience working with Paige, Delorvy and the Purple Onion team for our wedding! We had a long engagement and inquired almost 2 years out so we had the pleasure of working with them for quite a bit of time. During those 2 years we made lots of changes to our menu, added desserts, late night snacks, etc. and Delorvy was always so responsive and helpful. The prices were also very competitive compared to other caterers in the area that we inquired with, allowing us to add extras we wanted. We had a great experience at our tasting - they accommodated a larger than usual group and even brought out the desserts with a candle since it was my husband's birthday. The food and service on our wedding day was flawless - they made sure both of us got a private plate of appetizers right after the ceremony, always had a drink in hand and even made us iced coffee mid reception when we needed a pick-me-up. We got lots of compliments on the food from guest, which was SO important to us. Food can honestly make or break your guest experience so don't hesitate to get Purple Onion on your vendor list!!

  Simply the BEST!

  My husband and I used Purple Onion Catering for our wedding at Stone Tower Winery on 9/23/2022 and they did not disappoint! The Purple Onion staff was absolutely incredible and the food was out of this world! We had so many people coming up to us throughout the night telling us how amazing the food and service was! Purple Onion has some really wonderful people on their team and we are so grateful for each and every one of them!
  
  It was an absolute pleasure working with Paige and Delorvy throughout the wedding planning process. They made everything run smoothly and were so responsive to every question my husband and I had as they came up. They also made my Mac and Cheese bar dreams come true! I have always wanted was a Mac and Cheese bar during cocktail hour and they built a completely customizable one for me! My husband and I just couldn't be happier with how everything turned out and cannot thank Purple Onion enough!

  Wedding Day Perfection with Purple Onion!

  I have nothing by wonderful things to say about Purple Onion! Margaret was amazing throughout the whole planning process. My daughter's wedding day was a complete success with delicious food and impeccable service from beginning to end! I would 100% recommend this catering company to any and all engaged couples planning for their big day!

  Excellent!

  Great food, wonderful service, and a good time! Cassie helped make sure that everything leading up to and on the day of our reception went perfectly. Greg arrived early to help make sure the setup went smoothly and then Cassie worked seamlessly with my coordinator and event host to make sure that the venue looked beautiful. Clean-up was a piece of cake due to the rest of the staff. Cassie was able to pack up extra food that had not been eaten for us due to some last-minute cancellations thanks to COVID. The guests were pleased with the food, the wine service, the cake, and just everything about the catering team. We are very pleased that we went with Cassie and her team at Purple Onion!

  very responsive, delicious food, great service and decent price.

  The Happiest of Foodies

  We loved working with Purple Onion and especially Delorvy! The food was amazing (everyone was raving about the salmon macaron), the wait staff were awesome (we always had a drink in our hand and got to try every bit of food) and Delorvy handled everything flawlessly (even little hiccups felt smooth). We are so glad that we went with this caterer and would recommend and choose them over and over again! Delorvy was a joy to work with and even helped make our signature drink sign! We can not recommend her and Purple Onion enough!

  We recently got married in June and hired Purple Onion to be our caterer. It was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding day. The food and service was top notch and the quality of communication throughout the planning process was exceptional. Our coordinator, Delorvy, was responsive, diligent, and thorough with every detail (right down to the plastic water bottles for guests at the end of the night). Purple Onion was also extremely considerate of guests' food sensitivities, accommodating an almost entirely gluten-free menu for us. Rest assured, hiring Purple Onion will leave you confident and cared for while enjoying the best day of your life.

  Excellent service and great food!

  Purple onion catered our wedding at Shadow Creek, and we couldn’t have been more pleased. Both the food and the service were excellent. They made sure we were happy with our menu and even didn’t a second tasting tweak some of the dishes. Highly recommend.

  Wonderful catering experience!

  We used Purple Onion for our wedding at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, and it couldn't have gone better! Paige and her team were so kind and attentive to our needs (including the dietary restrictions of our guests), and everyone thought the food was delicious. Purple Onion really goes above and beyond on the quality of their food and their attention to detail; definitely hire them!

  Amazing experience

  This is going to be a bit of a weird review! I started planning for a brunch wedding scheduled for fall of 2020. I roughly knew what I wanted served but was lacking ideas. In comes Paige and the Purple Onion. They created an amazing menu, with biscuit baskets and fresh fruit plates, make to order waffle and omelette stations and a mimosa bar. A coffee bar for guests before the service! They came up with so many amazing ideas! And when we sampled the menu, it solidified our decision to work with them because it was all so delicious. Then covid happened and put the brakes on everything. They made it so easy to postpone the service. As if planning a wedding isn’t stressful enough, postponing one is even harder. But with Paige, they made it the easiest thing in the world. Then we started planning for our postponed wedding celebration, and then the delta variant has come roaring up. My husband and I made the difficult decision to cancel the postponed wedding celebration, as we want a wedding where we wouldn’t be worried for the health and safety of our loved ones. If Paige made postponing the catering service for our wedding easy, she made canceling it even easier! She told us they would honor our deposit for a future event!! That was such a weight off my shoulders. So, it’s a weird review in that we never hosted our wedding, but the customer service we have received during the 2 years we have been working with them has been absolutely phenomenal. Thank you so much Paige! We look forward to working with you in the future!
