Rachel was amazing! My husband and I are shy and don’t like to be in the spotlight - and I love more artistic candid photos, so Rachel was perfect for us! She truly is a documentary style wedding photographer. Her photos came out beautifully and we have posed family photos we love as well as lots of candids that capture the energy and activity throughout the day and night, and lots of beautiful shots of the venue and decorations. I really appreciated Rachel’s calm, kind, and easy going manner throughout the process and on the day of. She made it easy for us and we love the photos! Definitely recommend her! -

My husband and I were so blessed to have Rachel as a part of our wedding. Her sweet and gentle personality is exactly what any anxious bride needs, and her Photography is what any industry professional should strive for. She catered to our needs of wanting a “fly on the wall” Photographer that wouldn’t orchestrate awkward poses, but instead catch all the most important moments in a natural and candid way. Every guest looked incredible in the photos, and my husband and I have never looked better! She made sure to capture the magic of the horse farm we were married on, and did it all in freezing late October weather (with a smile on her face!). I couldn’t be happier with the photos. They are absolutely beautiful, and I can’t wait to have her back when we have children for her to photograph! -

Everything we could have asked for in a wedding photographer
I got married in the summer of 2016 on one of the hottest days of the year. Rachel was our one person photography team, and the heat did not detract from her ability to capture all of our special moments, starting with getting ready through the late night dancing. From the moment we booked her, a great deal of the weight of wedding planning was lifted. She was easy to work with, and listened to what we had in mind while providing her expert opinion. She captured priceless candid moments as well as all of the formal/group photos we wanted. She was a fun and calm presence on our wedding day even through the stressful moments which included a bridesmaid dress mishap! She was extremely responsive when trying to get in touch, and sent us preview photos right away. Shortly after that, she send us our final photos which we easy to access/print. I highly recommend her to any couple planning a wedding. Her work and skill is worth every cent and more! -

Exactly what we were looking for
Rachel was amazing to work with! Once I saw some of her work I knew that our aesthetics matched and I wanted her to shoot my wedding. We met via online video chat as she was in a different state, and she was so easy to chat with, we clicked immediately. She was accommodating to our requests, willing to travel for us, and understood the "look" we were going for. We first met during our engagement photo shoot and she made us feel totally at ease at such an awkward time for us (we are not the biggest fans of having our pictures taken) - she joked around with us, made us laugh, and by the end of the session we felt like friends.
Any little detail or question I had for Rachel was quickly responded to and we were able to make up a plan for how the wedding photography would be done - Rachel was straight forward about what was offered and had suggestions for us to get the most out of what we were paying. My husband and I wanted to enjoy our wedding and guests, and not spend a lot of time taking pictures - and Rachel was on the exact same page, able to get amazing shots in a short amount of time.
Within a day or so of our wedding Rachel sent along an email with several sneak peeks - and I was absolutely thrilled with what she sent. It put giant smiles on our faces to be able to relive the day from different points of view and have the event captured in such stunning pictures. The turnaround time to receive the rest our pictures was incredible as well, just over a month for them all.
I would absolutely recommend Rachel to anyone looking for a photographer who will work hard to deliver beautiful pictures of their special day. -

User1947084 Sent on 12/02/2014Rachel and colleague Shana shot our wedding in Providence this past September. From the point of first making contact, to the first look, to receiving the photos, it was a terrific experience and we couldn't be happier with our choice of photographer. We definitely wanted more candid shots and for them to be a bit different than the usual cookie-cutter, washed-out or overly pastel images. Rachel and Shana captured beautiful moments, some with a fine-art feel, others with a more photojournalistic aspect. Best of all, they were completely non-intrusive. During the ceremony we didn't see or hear them, and yet they got such wonderful shots from that part of the day. The same goes for the party - the dinner, raucous dancefloor, kids playing, older people gossiping - they documented the exhilaration of the night perfectly. We printed many of the photos to send each guest a picture of themselves from the wedding along with their thank-your card, and that has gone down a storm too. Highly highly recommend! -
User1926198 Sent on 11/17/2014We contacted Rachel to photograph our wedding over Labor Day Weekend 2014. From the first contact, Rachel was warm, perceptive, and kindly answered all of our questions with a little bit of calming humor during the initial interviews. We signed our contract and sent her our deposit (super simple process, which was nice when compared with the complicated payment schedules with some of our other vendors) we met in person twice before the actual date. She shared our vision for a low-key day and got all of the shots we wanted, even though we ran over time the day-of because of a couple of hiccups. We visited our venue together with Rachel so that we could put together a photography map/plan for the day of, it was so hard to narrow it down! The week of, Rachel was on call the whole week, answering questions, calming our nerves. She was always on time, always responsive to emails, and incredibly talented at ordering our sometimes unruly wedding party into what turned out to be fantastic shots! She has an artistic eye that is totally different from any of the other cookie-cutter wedding photographers we looked into. We loved the vintage-y feel of many of the photographs, and are so thankful that we have hundreds of spectacular images to remember our special day forever. In short - go with Rachel, she is fantastic! Our only regret is that we didn't splurge for her 2nd photographer so that we could have gotten more vantage points during the day! -
User1434822 Sent on 11/12/2013I was so thrilled with my experience having Bird in the Hand shoot my wedding. Rachel was professional but super-fun and easygoing and creative. And most importantly, they delivered the most gorgeous photos of the event. I particularly loved that she produced a wide range of types of photos —formats and styles (medium format, digital, abstract, portraits). An all-around great experience.

User1439725 Sent on 11/15/2013We found Rachel Hulin through a friend - it was a bit of a coincidence and boy do we consider ourselves lucky! Our photos were perfect. There were a few traditional photo things that we did NOT want (not too many formal portraits, no 'table' photos, etc) and Rachel was not pushy at all - she really just tried to accommodate what we wanted. You will cherish your wedding photos forever and can trust rachel to do a fantastic job with them.
