    Wonderful!

This space is the essence of Old Town Alexandria - classic, with tall ceilings, elegant and warm. Our dinner for 45 people fit well, with a cake area, a dance area, and even a bar table in the main room. Our guests all thought the location was superb and memorable, an event our friends will remember for years.

Poor Hospitality. Poor Communication. Beautiful Space.

Nestled in a prime location, this venue boasts breathtaking scenery that is sure to enchant. Regrettably, that is where it ends. We experienced subpar customer service and hospitality during our stay. Despite seeing similar negative reviews regarding customer service, we remained optimistic that our experience would be different. However, we were met with an unwelcoming attitude, as if we were an inconvenience to the staff, particularly Corinne. As an LGBTQ couple, we cannot help but wonder if that played a role in our experience.

To add insult to injury, we were made to wait outside the venue for an hour and a half due to a miscommunication with their maintenance staff who had locked the door. Despite calling Corinne multiple times for assistance, we received no response until someone finally came to our aid.

While we did our best to provide honest feedback via an AirBnB review, we were disappointed to receive a defensive and retaliatory response from Corinne, who claimed missing items such as a can opener and knife. Such behavior only serves to reinforce our negative experience and is a clear indication of poor management and customer service.

It is disheartening to see a beautiful and historic venue like Union Square not live up to its full potential due to inadequate management and customer service. While the beauty of the location cannot be denied, potential guests should be aware that they may not be treated as valued customers. Our experience has left us with a sense of disappointment, and we sincerely hope that management will take steps to improve their services in the future.

    Union Square's reply:

Respectfully This is a disappointing response and significantly inaccurate and one that directly suggests a discriminatory policy
Please be aware : Our venue has a extremely strict and fully enforced non discriminatory policy . Noted by the city. The fact that this accusation has been posited is unfortunate and itself defensive . And frankly , aggressive and wholly inaccurate.
For viewers of this review, Heber booked our venue NOT thru Wedding Wire, but thru an entirely different site of which there are well over 100 positive reviews. which we would respectfully direct potential guests to.
Here is what occurred: A member of our interior staff unlocked the facility approx 2 and half hours earlier than actual check in time, to help the guests set up. We volunteered early check in , with no extra charge to help guests.
Unfortunately , right before guests arrived , a workman who manages both the retail shop below our venue and manages the trash on premises noted that front door had blown open due to a wind storm and relocked door concerned about the security . The venue is on a heavily pedestrian street . He was again concerned about security .
This delayed guests from entering until a message was transmitted to local staff person who quickly came back over to reopen door. Yes there was a delay since host was out of town at a private church service However, . Guests were stil able to get in well before normal check in. Staff person was most respectful and apologetic . Guests were understandably upset by delay but were impolite to staff person who mentioned this to host . And cleaning team reported to host that there were some issues.
Guests subsequently positioned a review on the actual site designated for the booking as” constructive feedback” The fact that they wrote a second review on this Wedding wire site is indicative of guest’s mind set and intent.
PRIOR to even posted their review, the host respectfully ask guest in a text about a few items which we could not find. Often caterers mistakenly mix up this type of item . It is not uncommon. We simply inquired about possible whereabouts of items. . In fact a new corkscrew had to be purchased. The original corkscrew was never found Typically we charge for missing items since inventory is always taken before and after each visit. This is standard policy
No charge was requested by host . There was certainly nothingRetaliatory about the inventory inquiry.
The tone of the guest review unfortunately is regret-able . As mentioned, the venue was not actually booked thru this WW site.
