I recently had the pleasure of hosting a Mexico-themed wedding shower for my brother and his fiancée at the Waypoint Event Center in New Bedford, MA. They will be tying the knot in Cancun, Mexico, in early 2024, and we wanted to bring the Mexico theme here for the people who would not be able to celebrate with them on the big day. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the experience. From start to finish, our event was a huge success, largely thanks to the incredible team at Waypoint. The Sea Loft at the Waypoint is absolutely stunning, with the original stone walls and cathedral ceilings. The beautiful space highlights New Bedford's historic vibe, which I adore.
First and foremost, I want to give a special shoutout to Chelsey, the Catering and Events Sales Manager. She was an absolute joy to work with throughout the planning process. Chelsey's attention to detail and dedication to making our event unique and special truly stood out. She listened carefully to our ideas; her creativity and expertise helped bring our Mexico-themed vision to life. Chelsey's communication was impeccable, ensuring every aspect of our event was perfect.
The operations manager, Romario, also played a pivotal role in ensuring the event ran smoothly. He coordinated all the logistical details flawlessly, and his professionalism was appreciated. Romario's behind-the-scenes work helped everything come together seamlessly.
I can't forget to mention Mike, the bartender, who skillfully crafted delicious cocktails that perfectly complemented our Mexico theme. His friendly demeanor and bartending skills were a hit with our guests, and he kept the drinks flowing throughout the evening.
Myles and Dani, the servers, were also exceptional. They were attentive, courteous, and always had a smile on their faces. Their excellent service made our guests feel welcome and well taken care of throughout the event. Dani caught on that I do more talking than eating but made sure to cycle back multiple times to ensure I tried all the hors d'oeuvres. Myles never let a dirty plate or cup sit on a table longer than a few seconds. Their attentiveness was terrific.
Now, let's talk about the food! The custom menu created by Waypoint's culinary team was nothing short of spectacular. The Mexican-inspired hors d'oeuvres, nacho bar, and taco bar were delicious and beautifully presented. Our guests couldn't stop raving about the flavors of the cuisine, which added an extra layer of excitement to the event's theme. The queso was one of the best I have ever had, and they even found a way to incorporate plantains, which is my absolute favorite! Kudos to the talented chefs!
Waypoint Event Center in New Bedford, MA, exceeded all our expectations for my brother's Mexico-themed wedding shower. Best time ever!!!
We recently got married this past weekend 11/18/23. Chelsey and her team could not have made our wedding day any smoother than they did! From the convenience of the rehearsal dinner being a Thursday, not Friday. To being able to give them all our centerpieces and other decor with limited instruction and they nailed my vision! If we ever have any functions to host in the future we will definitely be using the waypoint again!Waypoint Event Center's reply:

Beautiful Venue
We had our wedding at the Waypoint Event Center and it was amazing!! Chelsey was a dream to work with, she went above and beyond her role to make sure our day was perfect. All staff was super friendly and helpful. The space is so beautiful. I highly recommend this venue for any type of event. You'll definitely be in good hands.Waypoint Event Center's reply:

Wedding was awesome
My daughter and her fiancé chose waypoint for its location and it’s intimate atmosphere, it did not disappoint! The entire process from start to finish was professional, pleasant, friendly and on point.
Chelsea, the coordinator, was a pleasure to work with and extremely accommodating. She responded quickly to any questions on concerns we may had and kept the ceremony and the reception humming along.
The staff was courteous, professional and did their job with efficiency and did not interrupt in any way. We had a chef in attendance as a guest and he said the food was exceptional!
The natural stone and wood beams added ambience to the entire evening and gave a an added rustic touch to the event.

As a Boston-based event company, we have the privilege of visiting countless facilities throughout MA, RI & NH. By far, The Waypoint Event Center is a unique "hidden gem" and delivers a stellar experience to both guests and vendors that is above and beyond. Chelsey and her team deliver that almost forgotten "Superb Hospitality" and they have the most accommodating staff to work with.
They happen to be one of our new "favorite vevues" to work with. Best of all, both the service and food are world-class! I would highly recommend Chelsey and Waypoint Event Center to anyone looking to host an event in the area. Her dedication and commitment to delivering exceptional service truly set her apart, and I have no doubt that anyone who works with her will have a fantastic experience.
Based on our experience of being in the special event industry for over 20+ years, it would be worthwhile to check out this venue before you consider any other!

A beautiful experience
We had our Wedding Day on 11/5/22 and we could not have asked for a more beautiful day. Waypoint was the perfect venue for our needs. It was intimate, and had a little bit of a rustic charm without the rustic price. From the original stone wall, to the beams wrapped with lights and purple uplights with the dj it was gorgeous! We also loved the convienience of a hotel being attached for traveling guests.Chelsey was so helpful at ensuring that our day ran smoothly and was quick to respond to any questions or concerns. She made sure that the tables were all set perfectly for the reception and made them look beautiful. I loved how they added string light candles at our cake table to make it look even more special.We opted for an all inclusive package with filet, and chicken and the food was amazing. Our guests were raving about the appetizers passed out during cocktail hour and enjoyed their meals. I even had a few guests approach us and compliment how attentive and efficient the staff were during the entire reception from serving to clean up, especially the other coordinator who was overlooking our reception ( I apologize I can't remember her name) I'm so happy that we chose Waypoint for our Wedding Day. We held our ceremony (SeaLoft), cocktail hour (Vineyard Room), and reception (SeaLoft) at the Waypoint Event Center. We chose this venue because of the affordable pricing, the ability to have everything in one location that was attached to a hotel and wasn't your traditional ballroom (the SeaLoft Room has a brick wall, rafters, and an overall unique feel to it), and offered a real weekend-getaway feel for our out of town guests since there were tons of restaurants, bars, and shops within a 15 minute walk from the hotel. Overall our experience with the Waypoint Event Center was very good. We had a wonderful day, and our guests loved the space and raved about the food. Very good for the price! There were only a few minor hiccups throughout the process: 1) the staff who were helping clean up at the end of the night were throwing things into boxes with no regard of the fragile items (glass cupcake stands, decorative wine glasses, glass bride and groom toasting glasses, etc.) - I know they wanted to get home after a long day but some care to the fragile items would've been much appreciated; 2) we were promised an additional beer which was not regularly offered, but when I went up to the bar after the wedding and requested one, I was told they didn't have that - definitely a disappointment; and 3) the wedding coordinator is very nice but she wasn't as on point throughout the whole process as she should have been in my opinion (delays on emails, wrong price points, not as helpful on the rehearsal/lining up day of - we had more help from the photographer and DJ, etc.). Overall I would certainly recommend the Waypoint Event Center as we loved our wedding but I think there are things that could be improved, especially coming from someone who has done event planning for conferences in the past. -

Amanda Sent on 07/30/2017My husband and I had our wedding at Waypoint Event Center. I stumbled across the Venue on my google search for wedding Venues. The moment we met with Diane, and saw the venue for the first time, we knew this is where we wanted to be married. Diane was absolutely incredible throughout her time at Waypoint, about 6 months before the wedding she was offered a promotion, and unfortunately we lost her. :( From then on we dealt with the new Event Coordinator, Kayla. She was sweet, and tried very hard to fill Diane's very large shoes! The day of the wedding we worked with Steph, one of the event managers. I was slightly disappointed by her, considering the room wasn't set up the way it was supposed to be, we only needed 11 Tables, and there were 12 set up, so one of them was completely empty, with not guests and the one that had people at it was not decorated with the table runners or centerpieces that i had brought because we didn't have enough for 12 tables. Also, she didn't know my husbands name the day of the wedding when she saw him before the ceremony, which frustrates me. And then, she didn't do the Ceremony processional correctly, she was rushing through sending everyone out, so when i walked in and walked down the aisle, no one was standing, and the song i was supposed to walk down the aisle to wasn't playing yet. Other than that, everything else was great! The food was delicious, and all of my guests loved the venue, and the patio area where cocktail hour was held! I would recommend to anyone that they use Waypoint as their venue! -
User1928990 Sent on 11/18/2014My husband and I were married at the Waypoint Event Center, part of Lafrance Hospitality, and also had our catering through them.We were absolutely blown away by the services provided. I enjoyed my interactions with everyone at Lafrance, although we worked closely with Jennifer at the Waypoint. She was so professional and prompt with her responses, and made us feel so at ease through a (sometimes) stressful process.
We also used catering via Lafrance and all of our guests raved about the food. Everything was delicious, and helped to make our wedding extra memorable. We really enjoyed our experience working with Lafrance Hospitality, and would recommend any of their venues to couples looking to get married in South Coast Massachusetts. -

We loved the atmosphere of Waypoint and the convenience of having an attached hotel. We also liked being so close to our ceremony space and the ability to go enjoy our night downtown after the wedding was over. We were a COVID wedding so during the time of changing date and such it was a little annoying with the what ifs, but once things were settled we really enjoyed our time. The food was great and they made the space look beautiful. -

If you’re looking for a small wedding venue this is the place! We had our ceremony and reception here and we loved it. Chelsey helped us every step of the way. She was always very responsive and very helpful. She knew what would work and what wouldn’t. The food was amazing we got so many compliments.
