Gorgeous property! The barn is so unique and you have a beautiful view of the vineyard from the ceremony location. Pamela and Malcolm work very hard to execute the events they host and they are an absolute pleasure to work with! WeatherLea Farm is a must-see!

Hosting our wedding at WeatherLea was one of the first--and best--decisions that we made for our wedding. Working with Pamela, one of the owners of WeatherLea, was seamless. She provided us with a well curated list of vendors that made the planning process easier, and we also had the flexibility to pick our own vendors, which really helped us manage our budget. Since our wedding (141 guests) was on the larger end of what they normally host, she was incredibly helpful and flexible--even a couple of days before the wedding--in setting up the reception space (an antique barn that had a cool loft space and beautiful lighting already set up) so everyone was still comfortable and had room to eat, dance, and mingle. The grounds are expansive, stunning, and wonderfully maintained (they have a small lake, vineyard, rock garden, two fully outfitted cottages for getting ready on the premises, the barn, and llamas and sheep that were a big hit with our guests)--even better and more beautiful than what we'd envisioned for our wedding. We loved working with Pamela and her husband, Malcolm, and their support, focus, and organization throughout the planning process made the day of so easy, relaxed, and fun for us. Would highly recommend WeatherLea without reservations, especially if you're planning a wedding on the smaller end (i.e. , less than 125 guests).

What a dream come true! Malcolm and Pamela were the most wonderful hosts. Our wedding was very DIY, and Weatherlea was the only venue we even considered because we could bring in our own vendors -- catering, flowers, lighting. We were able to arrive early in the week to set up and decorate, and we made use of both cottages over the weekend for my husband and I and some members of our wedding party to stay on the property. The grounds are just magnificent -- the perfect place for a barn wedding.

Everything fell right into place after we booked our daughter's wedding at WeatherLea Farm. Pamela and Malcolm made themselves available to our vendors well before the wedding date, going the extra mile to ensure that things ran smoothly. Their recommendation of Market Table Bistro for catering was perfect! The ceremony at the tea house, cocktail hour on the lawn and reception in the barn couldn't have been any prettier! As close to stress-free as you can get...

From the moment Jake and I arrived at Weatherlea farm we were in awe of the beauty. The farm had so much to offer with the gorgeous rustic barn, the vineyard, the ceremony site near the pond, and even the cottages on site. It was exactly what we were looking for, for our big day. And after meeting Pam and Malcolm, we knew that this was the place for us. They were warm and welcoming, professional, and we felt very comfortable with them.
They were both available to guide us through the planning and setup to ensure smooth sailing for the wedding. We even chose Malcolm to perform the ceremony. With his guidance we wrote a heartfelt ceremony that meant the world to us. He has a lovely presence and really did an amazing job. And Pamela planned out the night with grace and ensured everything flowed appropriately and the way we had envisioned. We started at the ceremony, then headed up to the cocktail hour by the vineyard for the sunset, and then back down to the barn for an evening reception.
We also stayed in the cozy cottages the night before and used them as the bride and groom's suites to get ready in before the wedding. My husband and I fell in love and never wanted to leave! All of our guests loved the farm too, and the night was filled with so much beauty and fun. It really was a special event. Oh, and not to mention how amazing our pictures turned out with farm as the backdrop. Truly magical.
I would definitely recommend Weatherlea Farm and Vineyard to anyone and everyone. We most definitely plan on coming back and staying in the cottages every year. We love Pamela and Malcolm and really can't say enough good things about Weatherlea!
Thank you so much!

We were looking for a local venue that would represent our low-key style and WeatherLea fit the bill perfectly. Pamela was extremely responsive to my every email and because I was doing all the planning and scheduling myself, she was very, very helpful and always available to provide whatever guidance I needed. We selected Malcolm to officiate our wedding and he, too, was very responsive and did a fabulous job performing our ceremony.
The grounds at WeatherLea are so lovely for an outdoor ceremony and the barn is truly romantic with just the minimal decor that is there. We originally planned to have the ceremony and cocktail hour in the same location, however, because it was raining the whole morning and part of the afternoon, Pamela consulted with me after discussions with the caterer as to making alternate arrangements if needed. Getting ready in the on-site cottage, I was always kept informed of any changes that needed to be made.
The on-site cottage that is part of the wedding package is lovely and such a nice convenience for the bride and such a nice reprive after the wedding. Even though we live in a nearby town and could easily have driven home, it was so nice to just walk steps, plop down, relax and eat, drink all the things we didn't get the opportunity to take advantage of during the reception. Equally lovely was having the refridgerator stocked with some breakfast food to start the day. Since our wedding, WeatherLea has added another cottage for additional guests and I'm sure it's equally as lovely.
I would highly recommend holding your wedding ceremony and reception at WeatherLea. We heard so many highly positive comments from our guests about the venue and we were so happy with every aspect of it.

I grew up in Loudoun County, and I really wanted to get married in a beautiful old barn. We searched and searched until we heard of WeatherLea through a friend of ours, and it was perfect. Pamela and Malcolm (who was also our officiant) were lovely. Their farm is a working farm and vineyard with lots of green/eco-friendly features, which allowed us to have a locovore wedding like we always wanted. The barn is an old tobacco barn that has lots of awesome character and the Baldwins have added a lot of great pieces to help pull together a vintage, country wedding (which are all over Pinterest right now). We were married in the garden, where our guests had cocktails out of an old painted wagon. My maids and I stayed in the Milk Cottage included in our venue package the night before the wedding, which was great for logistics and planning! Pamela was so helpful with getting things ready, and Malcolm was a fabulous officiant. They were very, very accommodating with helping me figure out last minute changes for a sick bridesmaid who was unable to attend. And the location was just stunning. I've had so many friends tell me how perfect it was and how beautiful the barn was.
WeatherLea Farm & Vineyard's reply:
Thank you, Elizabeth...you and Nick and your families and friends were wonderful also, and it was a great pleasure to work with you all!
One clarification: our event barn is actually an old hay and dairy barn, not tobacco. I don't think tobacco was grown in our immediate area, which was settled in the 1720s (our house was built in 1794, and the barn in the mid-19th century) by German subsistence farmers who were not slaveholders like the tobacco farmers located farther south. This town voted against secession in 1861!

I can't say enough good things about WeatherLea Farm and the owners Pamela and Malcolm. Their home and the property are absolutely beautiful and they take great care to keep things looking pristine. We loved that they had different areas of their property-there was a gazebo area where we had our ceremony, a vineyard where we had our cocktail hour and then a beautiful barn where we had our reception. They also have a small cottage that was perfect for the girls to get ready on our wedding day. There are a million beautiful, unique photo locations too. In addition to the beauty at the farm, Pamela and Malcolm are wonderful people who work hard to make sure your day runs smoothly. They helped with so many things behind the scenes that were above and beyond the call of duty. We were so thankful for their help and that we found this venue. It was absolutely breathtaking and our friends and family loved it. WeatherLea Farm is an absolutely wonderful place for a wedding!

We are so pleased with our experience at WeatherLea Farm, I'd recommend this charming venue to anyone in the Greater DC area who's seeking a unique location for a small to medium-sized wedding. The proprietors, Malcolm and Pamela, are thoughtful and professional, and their property is simply gorgeous. From the views, to the resident sheep and llamas, to the spacious 19th Century barn that hosts receptions, all was beautiful.
We hosted a group of about 75 people, and chose to have both our ceremony and cocktail hour in the garden adjacent to the homestead house (which I highly recommend, versus having the cocktail hour in a second location). We had fun exploring the many photo opportunities that WeatherLea naturally lends, with our great photographer Steve Whysall (who is local to Lovettsville). The barn already features white twinkle lights, battery operated candles, and a dance floor, so a ton of decor isn't necessary. We put some flowers on the tables and were good to go.
If featuring local and sustainbly/humanely sourced food is important to you, please seek out catering with nearby Market Table Bistro, a stellar local restaurant that works often with WeatherLea for area events. They were superb in every way.
Good luck and have fun!

WeatherLea is a truly stunning wedding venue and I couldn't be happier that I had my wedding there. It's the most beautiful spot imaginable & everyone raved about how gorgeous/perfect it was. Pamela & Malcolm were wonderful to work with, have impeccable taste, and take incredible care of the property. They were very helpful in the planning process & made great local vendor recs. Malcolm officiated for us & did an outstanding job.
The photo opps on the property are magnificent. There's a comfortable cottage on the property that is convenient for getting ready. I *highly* recommend booking the vineyard for cocktail hour!
I absolutely loved getting married at WeatherLea, but some advice for couples, since this site was invaluable to me for such things: The venue itself is an incredible value; however, that doesn't mean your wedding will be cheap or easy to plan. You're required to use one of the recommended caterers or have your caterer approved. After spending >40 hours on inquiries, phone calls, etc, we ended up with a pretty small list of people who fit the bill/could work with the somewhat limited prep area. While we had absolutely fantastic food, we went way over budget on catering due to some of the constraints. I'd also pay attention to other things they tell you in person, e.g. , what the layout will be if there are 100+ guests. (If ours had been bigger tables would have had to go in the loft or on the dancefloor. ) Although it's not required (except for catering), I'd recommend running other vendors by the owners. We had a situation in which we paid a deposit for a shuttle that wound up being too big for the driveway and we had to rebook, so it's worth talking to the owners about vendor choices when working in such a unique rustic/farm setting. They are extraordinarily helpful and it is SO worth the effort!
Having our wedding at WeatherLea was magical and it will always hold amazing memories and a special place in our hearts! Can't wait to visit again!
WeatherLea Farm & Vineyard's reply:
Thank you, Miranda, for your kind words. We loved hosting your wedding and particularly valued the smooth collaboration we had in the planning. I do want to clarify one point: we do not require our approval of "off-list" caterers in any way other than to confirm that they are fully licensed and insured. We also recommend that client couples verify that their caterers are sufficiently staffed for their event, based on our observations of a few difficult situations in the past. But we are always happy to work with new vendors!

This scenic property is perfect for a less-formal, laid-back, probably medium-sized wedding. We had about 85 guests and it worked out perfect. The site features beautiful fields and vineyards, and a Civil War-era barn-- truly a perfect combination for an outdoor wedding! The ceremony and cocktail hour were held in a field next to the beautiful, historic mansion, with a view of the vineyards and rolling hills. The barn was the back-up ceremony location (just in case the rain came back), and also served as the site for the reception. It could not have been more beautiful, especially as evening fell and the barn was lit up. Our guests loved the location, and our wedding pictures are gorgeous.
Malcolm and Pamela, who own the site and live there as well, were a pleasure to work with. We even had Malcolm officiate for us! There were a few glitches, though-- working out a date with Malcolm and Pamela, who are very busy, proved challenging. There were also some problems securing a port-o-potty for the site. You can't get around this, since the site is so remote, and believe it or not, decent port-o-potties (not the junky, gross, blue ones you tend to think of) are not easy to come by. But it all worked out in the end.
Pamela tends toward the inflexible when it comes to pricing, certain policies, and using the property outside of the contracted hours, but I am guessing that is normal-ish. On the other hand, she was very accommodating when it came to working out the problems that cropped up during the planning process. Overall, it was a wonderful experience-- we have beautiful memories of our time there, and are hoping to return to the bed and breakfast for our anniversary.

We had such a lovely wedding at WeatherLea on 9/29/18. The setting was wonderful, our families enjoyed staying in the cottages at the farm, and the guests loved the llamas during the cocktail hour! The barn setup worked out great for the reception. Pamela was very helpful all weekend. Hopefully, we can come back out and stay in the cottages sometime!

Weather Lea Farm is a beuatiful place to have a fun, stylish wedding. The venue includes a great old barn for the reception, a Japanese gazebo for the ceremony and a vineyard for cocktail hour. They also can bring the bride and groom around in 1954 Ford, which folks loved taking pictures with.
According to the owners, a couple of retired foreign service types, it's not the right location for a princess wedding, but for a couple that wants somethign laid back and fun (us in other words) it's perfect, and we couldn't agree more.
Although it's a farm setting, there are no mosquitos which is fantastic and Pam and Malcolm are warm, welcoming and great at adjusting to contingencies.
We loved getting married there and it will always be a special place for us.

WeatherLea Farm and Vineyard was a beautiful back drop for our wedding day. Their grounds and barn are perfect for anyone looking to have a rustic-chic outdoor wedding. Pam and Malcolm were excellent hosts. We enjoyed their lovely cottages the night before and night of the wedding which are on the property. Pam was easy going and worked with me to visit the property several times as I worked to plan and set up the day. She worked well with my day-of-coordinator to make sure everything went off smoothly the day of and was quick to answer questions. I would recommend this facility hands down.

Beautiful location, very unique setting. Vineyard and ceremony site were perfect for getting a beautiful outdoor scenery and the barn for the reception is gorgeous. Owners are very responsive and nice to work with, but we did have some communication issues along the way.

Beautiful property and lovely setting for a wedding and reception. The venue owners do a very nice job of making sure the property is in beautiful shape. Malcolm did an excellent job of officiating the ceremony. I highly recommend renting air conditioning for the barn if hot weather is likely. The natural breeze is not enough to make the barn comfortable. Two issues created a great deal of unnecessary stress and ill feelings just days before the wedding. I expected to be treated better when these issues arose.
WeatherLea Farm & Vineyard's reply:
We are a seasonal venue and do not normally accept August reservations, but we were moved by the plight this couple found themselves in when their original venue was shut down because of regulatory violations about three months before their planned date. In sympathy, we agreed to add an August date to our schedule -- we normally avoid weddings in the hottest months -- and we waived several fees, including offering them free use of our two bed-and-breakfast cottages. We had a misunderstanding about one of the cottages, which we had rented to other guests through the Friday night before the Saturday wedding. When I learned that bride and bridesmaids wanted to use it on Saturday morning for hair and makeup, I asked the other guests to leave an hour early and immediately cleaned the cottage in time for the bride and bridesmaids to use it starting at about 10:30 AM. (The wedding was at 4:00 PM.)
The only other point of contention came a few weeks before the wedding when I learned that their guest list had grown and strongly recommended an upgrade in their portable restroom rental to a larger unit -- provided, as always, by a restroom vendor at a discounted price that we do not mark up. They reluctantly agreed, and I believe their guests appreciated the lack of lines to use the facility.
Everything went beautifully during the wedding, and we remain happy that we were able to help this couple in their time of need. The rented portable A/C was indeed highly effective, but I want to reassure folks who may not be in a position to spend $3K for that luxury, that when opened up fully the barn has great cross-breezes and has always been comfortable during evening receptions in our regular wedding months of May, June, September and October.
Finally, here is what the couple said in their thank-you note: `Thank you both for hosting our wedding at your lovely property. The day was perfect and our family, friends & vendors all had an amazing time.`
