The Woodlawn Estate & Frank Lloyd Wright’s Pope-Leighey House is a wedding venue located in Alexandria, Virginia. This venue is comprised of two separate houses that couples can exchange their vows in. These homes both feature a rich and fascinating history. The Woodlawn was a gift that George Washington gave to his step-granddaughter and nephew. This lovely estate was actually their wedding present. Years later, this estate was once again carefully restored to its Colonial glory. The Pope-Leighey House was built by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1940. While it originally was built to provide the middle-class with affordable housing, it now serves as a unique setting for ceremonies and receptions. While both homes may feature contrasting architectural and historical styles, they provide a charming setting for you to exchange your vows and begin your new life as a married couple in. Facilities and Capacity Couples can invite up to 350 guests to join them for their wedding. These spaces offer both indoor, covered outdoor, and uncovered outdoor options that you can choose from. Many of these outdoor areas include fountain gardens and scenic views that provide a relaxing setting for you and your guests. You are also welcome to incorporate the brand new event tent, which can accommodate 250-350 guests, into your ceremony or reception. The Yellow Barn at Shenandoah Caverns is a unique wedding venue located in the town of Quicksburg in Virginia’s beautiful Shenandoah Valley. The Yellow Barn at Shenandoah Caverns is the perfect setting to host the barn wedding of your dreams. Facilities and Capacity The Yellow Barn at Shenandoah Caverns is a large wedding venue that can accommodate up to 400 wedding guests in its outdoor and indoor event spaces. The recently-updated Yellow Barn features over 5,000 square feet of open space, which is the ideal setting for both intimate and grand ceremonies and receptions. Outdoor ceremonies at the venue can accommodate up to 150 guests and will feature a gazebo. The Yellow Barn at Shenandoah Caverns also features two sister venues; American Celebration on Parade and the Shenandoah Caverns. It was crafted for George Mason IV. This example of Georgian style has hardly changed over the years save for some modern updates to its antiquated systems. It was constructed by two Englishmen who brought over design and architecture elements popular in London at the time. A large number of Mason pieces still remain at the mansion, showcasing the lives of the family during their stay in the house from 1759 to 1792. The home stayed in the family until 1867.

Geri Melchers Home & Studio is a museum in the greater Washington, D.C. area where couples can celebrate their wedding. This classic and historic setting offers 27 acres of land and a charming garden terrace for couples on their big day. Views of the Rappahannock River and even a barn make this venue outdoorsy and unique. Couples will find it in Northern Virginia, located approximately 45 minutes from Arlington National Cemetery. Facilities and Capacity Couples can invite up to 120 guests to join them on their wedding day at Geri Melchers Home & Studio. The venue welcomes couples for a bridal shower, ceremony, elopement, engagement party, reception or rehearsal dinner, and allows couples to host numerous wedding events in a day so that they may celebrate their ceremony and reception jointly. For outdoor ceremonies, couples can marry on the main lawn of the venue, with the historic manor as their backdrop. The earliest document dates back to the 1790s, and the home underwent rapid expansion sometime prior to 1850. This growth is often attributed to owner Joseph B. Ficklen’s family of six children raised in the house. The house and property were renovated in 1916, when they were purchased by Geri and Corinne Melchers. Through their travels, the Melchers obtained many antique items such as furniture, carpets, fine china, pottery, paintings and prints. Nearly all the couple’s personal possessions remain at this estate, while other aspects of their life have been carefully reproduced for the sake of authenticity.
