any destination weddings in here πŸ‘€

We are from Ohio but having our wedding in Gatlinburg and a lot of people are complaining driving 5 hours and saying we should have planned in our hometown. Regardless, we are not changing or minds but it does make me upset.

Our wedding is where we live in VA, but all my family is from NY, all of FH family is from FL. Friends are scattered t-out the states and one internationally. So it’s a destination wedding for everyone except us. We knew we had no other option, no matter where we chose, it would be like this.
The main thing I’ve heard is that it’s normal to get a higher decline rate for DWs. We know our nearest and dearest will be there, so we’re okay with it and completely understand anyone who can’t afford to travel.

We live in Philadelphia area, our wedding is in the mountains of UT outside of Salt Lake City. We have family flying in from AZ, WA, CA, CO and ID. Only my fiances parents are local - they live in the area we are getting married. No complaints here. We sent our STDs early to give people plenty of time to plan.

We sent ours out with RSVPs in December and they have to reserve by May 16th. The wedding is in October. It's irritating.

I wanted everyone included but the cost was alot and we arnt to much in the spot light so we compromised and decided to go away and only have parents, grandparents, wedding party (1 each side) and there spouses. And we always wanted to go there so why not take our honeymoon while we're over there

I'm in Kansas City MO and our wedding is in the Poconos. It is SO stressful planning something so far away. But it is easier to move the 2 of us 2000 miles than everyone else. Plus the Poconos is WAY prettier than kcmo.

I’m from NC, he’s from TX and we live in CO...our family is also scattered all the country so we picked a place that we thought was convenient for most ppl and close to my heart and still getting complaints. Like why would we ever get married in Los Angeles we have no connection there.

We haven't sent our invites yet, but so far no push back from our save the dates, in fact most people sent us texts saying they got them and are excited. Sorry your guests arent being as gracious. BUT, it's YOUR day, they need to respect you and your fiances decision for the location, or just RSVP no.

We’re getting married in CancΓΊn so definitely a destination wedding... I haven’t started planning but I have given people a heads up so they can start saving.. 2yrs is a lot of notice, so far everyone has said yes.. but regardless, whoever wants to come will come, I won’t even be offended if some don’t. As long as both our parents are there that’s all that matters. If people don’t want to make that drive then just be prepared to be okay with that.

We're getting married in NJ and we live in IL. His family are the only ones local.
My grandma was making a big stink about it being in NJ because "Weddings are traditionally in the bride's hometown"
That really irked me because while my family is in Ohio....Gma lives in OK....they would be traveling to the wedding regardless of where it happened....so why whine about it!?!?!

We're in CA getting married in Hawaii. Sent out about 30 STD and so far so good. Everyone is excited Most ppl are using vacation time and just making a trip of it.

I'm sorry you're getting so much push back but those that really want to be there will make our happen as long as they have enough time for planning.

    Good luck.

It funny she would be the one to complain seeing how she had a Nov wedding but at that time no one had kids yet so no problem. I get frustrated with her sometimes because her in-laws will ask her to travel and she goes but when her blood asks she fights.

I’m from MA, FH is from CT. My extended family is all over the country. We decided to get married in CO (where we live now), we love CO and wanted to share it with our people. We’ve invited ~115 people.

Im sorry you’re getting so much push back! (5hr really isn’t bad in terms of travel) as other have said those who really want to be there will make the trip.
