Bloominous Flowers! Experience and overall cost?

Christine, on August 22, 2019 at 6:46 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 9

Hey all! I'm looking into going with Bloominous.com for our DIY wedding flowers, and I was curious if anyone else has used them? If so, I'd love to hear approximately how much you spent! Wondering if it's worth going through them or writing out a laundry list of specific flowers and finding them in bulk elsewhere.

From what I've read on a couple of other posts, brides had a lot of fun doing a "flower day" with their bridesmaids/family members since Bloominous gives you instruction sheets and all of the materials ready to go. I love the idea of little recipe cards to hand out to all my girls while we pour glasses of rosé and get right into it, but my original DIY floral budget was $700 (for 9 bridesmaids and 9 groomsen -- yes I know, I'm crazy). Hoping that budget is still possible with Bloominous... I'm willing to budge on that a bit, but not by much. Here's what I'm looking into:

7 small bridesmaid bouquets, 2 medium MOH bouquets, bridal bouquet, 8 small boutonnieres, 1 medium BM boutonniere, 1 large groom boutonniere, a couple of cake flowers, flower girl petals

Thanks in advance!!

- C

I went through the process of booking with Bloominous. My total was about $900 for bridal bouquet, 4 bridesmaid bouquets, 7 boutonnières, sweetheart table centerpiece, 3 four foot eucalyptus garlands, and the greenery for 12 centerpieces (I was providing my own container). You can ask them to swap in cheaper flowers, more filler, etc to hopefully stay within your budget.

As as much as I was excited for putting all of the flowers together, I ended up not following through because I was very nervous about transporting all of the flowers from my house to the venue (45 mins away). If we were closer, I would’ve stuck with it.

I just had a consultation with Fifty Flowers and they were VERY helpful. I showed them photos of what I liked and then we both went on the website and had a conference call where they shared their thoughts and recommendations. To cover a 50 foot garland for the head table, 25 centerpieces, 2 very large arrangements for wine barrels, 7 bridesmaid bouquets, my bouquet, 4 corsages, 13 boutonnieres, flower petals for flower girls, and cake flowers, it came out to just under $1400. This was a LOT of stuff though. For what you're wanting I think that's definitely reasonable. I wanted a specific flower that was more expensive than some so that inflated my price a lot. I'd definitely look into the company and set up the consultation (they give a discount too).

    Hey there Christine Smiley smile

On the Bloominous WeddingWire storefront, they have information on pricing you can check out under FAQ. This may help you figure out roughly a budget. You can also reach out to them via the storefront for more pricing information and read previous couple reviews Smiley smile

A “flower day” sounds like great fun! I would totally be up for taking part in something like that.

I’m using Bloominous and they’re extremely affordable and accommodating! I did a test trial and it was great but I got nervous about traveling with my flowers so I went with their full service - they’ll have someone assemble my flowers and deliver/set up. I’ll be sure to do a post after my wedding in 4 weeks! Here’s a photo of my DIY test run.

Oh, I also saved a bit of money by doing DIY lapel flowers with ribbon instead of a boutonnière - they’re easier to pin on and can be used in the future. Just a thought if you’re trying to cut costs - happy to give more detail if you want!

Oh I didn't even think about providing my own container! We are having the wedding in our family's backyard, which is where 95% of the DIY-making is taking place so it works out in that aspect. I can imagine it being a dealbreaker if we would have to travel that far, too!

FiftyFlowers is also on my radar. For all of those florals, $1400 is very reasonable! Thanks Taylor!

Oh I would totally be nervous about traveling with them too. We'll just be transporting the flowers from our living room to our backyard, otherwise I would be paying more for setup.

OOH, I love those! Is that the Fairy Dust collection? That + Gold Rush are the ones that I'm considering. Maybe I'll mix and match the two...

I would love more DIY detail!! I'm practically DIY'ing everything I can (I'll kick myself about it later haha) but my plan is to hold a Wedding Sale the next day "backyard sale" style, and just have the official cleanup of the wedding happen after that. This way we spend the same amount of money (or less) than what rentals cost + make our money back after they're sold. Plus less time cleaning up and storing a bunch of wedding items that'll collect dust.

It was “chef’s choice” flowers - I just wanted to see how they held up with shipping so instead of getting my bouquet which would’ve cost more I went with Chef’s Choice for $30.
The lapel flowers (photo attached) I made using ribbon and lapel pins I got off Amazon. I found a tutorial on Amazon to make roses out of ribbon - super easy and low cost. And you don’t have to deal with pinning on a boutonnière!
