Bora Bora honeymoon

We went to Bora Bora on our honeymoon. I recommend going through a travel agent to get the best possible deal (I even compared prices with Costco Travel and it was cheaper this way). We went with Tahiti for Less. Claudia was SUPER helpful in giving us all the necessary information to choose which resort, excursions, etc. Since this was for our honeymoon, they upgraded our overwater bungalow from Superior to Deluxe, provided champagne and pastries upon arrival, complimentary couples massage, and complimentary snorkel tour including swimming with sharks (imo the best thing ever) and stingrays. Along with that, flights from LAX to PPT and PPT to BOB were included so the only thing we had to worry about was getting to LAX.

We decided on St. Regis for our resort. And I cannot say enough great things about it. We had our own butler who took care of our every need - he chauffeured us around the resort, unpacked and packed up our things, brought us coffee every morning, and the list goes on. One of the best restaurants, the Lagoon, is at the St. Regis and we went there multiple times during our stay. Food was amazing. Another famous restaurant is Villa Mahana (and I recommend you make reservations WAY in advance - they only have 8 tables and have a wait list every night). They had paddle boards, kayaks, snorkeling gear, etc. out for you to use at any time. St. Regis exceeded my expectations and we were basically treated like royalty. 100% worth it.

We just booked our 7 night honeymoon to Moorea and we worked with Samantha with gotahiti.com. She said Moorea is less than Bora Bora.

ETA Moorea is between Tahiti and Bora Bora. We will be flying into PPT from LAX and taking the ferry to Moorea.

I have not. However my cousin and her husband went last year for their 10 year anniversary. They stayed at the St. Regis. They travel a lot and RAVED about it. They said it was hands down the best vacation EVER!

I can't comment as someone who has gone yet, but we're also planning on Bora Bora for our honeymoon! There's a lot of love for the St. Regis on this thread, so I just wanted to add some variety and say that the most helpful reviews I've found on Tripadvisor were by people who stayed at both the Four Seasons and the St. Regis (since they're both in the same price range, we're considering both, and you may be as well), and I've found general consensus leans towards favoring the Four Seasons. We're probably going to stay four nights at the Four Seasons (they have a 4th night free deal) and four or five nights at the St. Regis (they have two different deals, one for the 4th night free and one for 5th night free, each with different inclusions) to get the best of both!

We just booked our honeymoon to moorea and bora bora! Moorea is much more reasonable once you get there, for food and such. But you also can't miss bora bora. We are staying at the Hilton all bungalow resort in moorea and the bora bora pearl beach resort.

My fiancé and I are looking to plan a very similar trip. We were just a bit stressed about where to start if we should go through a travel agent. We have 10 days in August and we wanted to go to Tahiti, Moorea, and Bora Bora. Do you have any travel agents that you recommend who specializes in this type of trip? We were also looking to open a new credit card to put the trip on for points. We already have the chase reserve, does any one recommend a card that could potentially get us a free night anywhere? Hi Maryann, great call opening up the sapphire reserve, especially if you plan to travel a lot. Do you still have the 50k points from signing up for the chase sapphire reserve? Chase Ultimate Reward points are really flexible so that will help. Not sure how many other credit cards you and your fiancé have gotten but I would say you will want to stick with cards that get you Chase Ultimate Reward points or Starwood Preferred Guest points, since these are the two most flexible point options. You can use points to book flights and hotels, which should help piecing together a trip. Assuming you haven't opened many other credit cards, here's what I would recommend if you are hoping to pay for most or all of your trip with points:

- Whoever didn't open the Chase Sapphire Reserve can open the Chase Sapphire Preferred to receive 50k Chase Ultimate Reward points from the sign-up bonus (the $95 annual fee is waived the first year!)

- Open the Starwood Preferred Guest credit card to receive 25k Starwood points from the sign-up bonus (should be good for at least one free night at the St. Regis in Bora Bora or the Le Meridian properties in Bora Bora and Tahiti)

- Open the Marriott Rewards Premier Credit Card to receive 75k Marriott points (equal to 25k Starwood points since the hotel chains are merging) from the sign-up bonus (should be good for at least one free night at the St. Regis in Bora Bora or the Le Meridian properties in Bora Bora and Tahiti)

This would at least put you up to 100k Chase Ultimate Reward Points (Equal to $1,250 in lodging and/or flights when redeemed) and at least 2 free nights for your trip. I would potentially adjust this plan depending on where you are traveling from and you could easily cover the whole trip if you opened business credit cards, which don't affect your credit score, but I didn't want to overwhelm with too much info lol.

We have taken numerous trips abroad and paid for everything except meals with points and we are planning to do the same for our honeymoon. Happy to connect to provide more info if you like!

We aren’t between using pacific for less and Custom Tahiti travel. Pacific for less quoted us for a cheaper price but I read some reviews that they are not as responsive after the deposit is given. Is this true ? Any feed back on both agents ?

We personally had no issues dealing with Pacific for Less. My travel agent gave me all her contact info, including her cell phone, so we could reach her anytime. She was always on top of responding to us and went out of her way to ensure our trip went smoothly.

My fiance and I are going to Bora Bora for our honeymoon next month! I too compared multiple all inclusive trips, including costco travel, and found that Triple A was the cheapest for us. We are staying at the Pearl Beach Resort in an overwater bungalow for 6 nights, and are spending 1 night in Tahiti at La Manava resort. We are flying from JFK to LAX, and from LAX to PPT. We didn't opt for inclusive meal/drink plans because we wanted to roam the island and discover other places to eat as well!!

I’ll definitely be following this post. We are contemplating going, but I’m a scardy cat and have heard that you have to fly a small plane to actually get there. Is that true?

Yes if you go to Bora Bora you do have to take a puddle jumper. But we are going to Moorea. So we're flying in to Papeete which is where Tahiti is located. Then we'll take a ferry to Moorea. Our travel agent suggested that since it is less expensive than Bora Bora and Tahiti.
