Bouquet: belly button or bush?

Monica, on May 23, 2018 at 12:34 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 30

I've heard "bouquet to belly button" and "bush to bush"

which one is it? and is it the top of your bouquet (the flowers) at the belly button/bush , or the stems at the belly button/bush ?

For reference I have a "just picked" style boquet

I keep being told bush to bush. However for me it’s incredibly uncomfortable for me and I look awkward holding it that way. I have a pacemaker and portacath, so I can’t scrunch my arms like I’d need to for bush to bush. Personally I think whichever is most comfortable for you to hold. I’m not going to personally worry about etiquette for that.

Mine is a cascading design. I’d had to have it redesigned a few times so it’s not too heavy.

Huh? I didn't know it mattered how you held the bouquet. I'm just gonna hold it however it feels comfortable for me Smiley smile

I've never heard "bush to bush" before lol, but this is how our wedding planner had us hold our bouquets. He said bouquets at your bellybuttons.

I have heard "pubes not boobs" a lot, so I think it just means to make sure you aren't holding it up above your chest and covering the top of your dress or your face. I agree that you should just make sure you are comfortable however you hold it, otherwise it may look strained in pictures Smiley smile

My photographer, back in the day, kept reminding saying "don't hide your assets" basically keep the bouquet lower than your bust

It’s two different phrases that mean the same thing- hold the bouquet low, not up at your chest.

Bush to bush makes sense, the whole reason people used to (tradition just carried on) was to hide the smell because way back when people were unable to shower on a regular basis like us. There for hiding the smell from down under😂😷

This is correct. The point is just to remember to hold your bouquet as low as possible so you don't cover your dress or block the view for pictures.

My florist told me "pubes not boobs." So i made sure to carry it low and it didn't cover my dress. I've seen friends' wedding photos where the bouquet is way high and covers the dress.

I think the idea is to not have the largest part of the bouquet covering your waist, hiding your thinnest torso part which makes you look wider; so if the very top of your bouquet is brushing your bellybutton, it should not be an issue - but I think the best place to hold it varies by body type, bouquet type, and dress style, so my advice would be to take a minute once your dress is on to hold your bouquet in front of you in the mirror (or even have someone snap some phone pics of you) and move it up and down until you're satisfied with how you look (take note of whether your arms look or feel awkward, what body parts or dress parts the bouquet is obscuring, and in general what looks more aesthetically pleasing).
