Bridesmaids!

We're letting everyone choose their own hair and makeup styles, within reason obviously. Different things look good on different people and I truly couldn't care less what shade of eyeshadow someone chooses to wear.

Absolutely! That is a main reason why we also want them to choose their own dresses-- i am a firm believer in this and want them to feel beautiful at my wedding as well!

Are you setting any general guidelines for them?

We also had our bridesmaids in same color/different styles. I would honestly just tell them to do whatever they want for hair and makeup. I actually feel like it may look a bit odd for them to have matching hair but not matching dresses... if you're going for an eclectic look, just go with it fully, I think. For makeup I told my girls to go relatively natural (like, no thick bright purple eyeliner or something hahah) but other than that they could do whatever they felt most comfortable in. My MOH is very much a tomboy and hates wearing makeup altogether... I literally told her she didn't have to wear a drop if it made her uncomfortable... she did say she wanted to wear some for the sake of the photos, but she wore very minimal eyeliner/mascara/light eyeshadow. On the other hand my other bridesmaid went to cosmetology school and is SUPER into makeup and went all out with hers! Honestly your girls are different people so I would just say let them wear what makes them comfortable and they will feel the most beautiful and look the most like themselves... the fact that you're having them pick their own dresses makes it seem like you already get that though!

We are January 2020 too! That’s awesome. I have a beautician girlfriend and future SIL that have offered to do hair/makeup for a very cheap price for everyone. I’m going to offer that to the bridal party/MOB and MOG.
We are doing the same with letting everyone pick their own dresses just with in our colors. We want simple and personalities to show.

Yes! This kind of justifies it even more. I mainly want to see what other brides are doing for bridal parties that are all wearing different style dresses, because it's hard for me to imagine something in my head without hearing other ideas as well. I think we are leaning towards having them choose their own, but I want to see if I should provide any guidelines!

Yes, I have a friend who does bridal and is up & coming on youtube for makeup, that I managed to snag for what I think is a great price The bridal party is all paying for their own and we are paying for both of our mothers if they want it. I don't thnk any of my bridesmaids would stray from a general makeup or hairstyle and would do anything bright or crazy but I don't want them to feel like they have no idea what to base their "inspiration photo" off of.

I'm paying for all the bridesmaids who are interested to get their HAMU done, but I told them to do whatever they want. So if they can't find their own inspiration pictures, I found a few on Pinterest and saved them. One with a traditional updo. One with a braided half up half down. And one with a braid to the side.

Love it! I have been seeing so many cute loose/messy updos and braids with beautiful hairpieces. I asked my sister to get one and do that hairstyle because it is totally something she would wear But only if she wants to!

I think depending on the neckline of the dresses they each choose, then pick hair. Like if it's strapless, hair down and straps hair up? Are you making them all do it the same?

If it comes down to it, we'll tell them we'd prefer natural colors (no hot pink eyeliner) but I really don't see them trying anything too crazy anyway.

View Quoted Comment Yeah I think the extent of the guidelines really depends on how much you think your bridesmaids need them lol. I just told mine “do whatever you want within reason” and they all got it haha. Maybe specify that you want a more natural look for makeup?

I don’t have our pro pics yet so no pics of them in their dresses, but here was after we finished hair and makeup before getting dressed.

My bridesmaids have been torturing me by having me make decisions for them(I countered that by choosing infinity dresses so they had to decide length and style. I just told them which color) make up is whatever they feel comfortable with(I never wear make up so they at least realized I should not be making that decision) They did want me to choose a hair style for them. I sent them a ton of options and they all like the one pictured so I am purchasing their hair pieces

Can they pick own hair and makeup? I feel like the same hair and makeup style will not look the same on everyone.

I am going to pick the dress color and style most likely. I do want them to choose their own hair and make up looks (obv nothing crazy). I want them to be comfortable and look in a way they feel good.
