I'm making signs, table numbers, our card box, some bridal party gifts, and our whiskey barrel head guest book.

You’ve got a year so if you’re already crafty I think you could handle making some things. Limit how many projects you take on and weigh the costs.
I tried to make a petal curtain for my ceremony arch, I spent more on supplies than buying one already made.

If there’s one you can afford that’s already done don’t add it to your workload, focus on unique projects you can’t get anywhere else(or that cost an arm and a leg to buy)

I've done a ton of stuff so far: calligraphy'd the addresses for invites, handmade all our flowers out of crepe paper, sewed totebag backpacks for the bridesmaids, sewed dopp kits for the groomsmen, sewed zippered tote bags for the moms, folded all our napkins so they have a pocket for silverware, made decals for our card box and dress hangers, made a hand-turned pen from a bourbon barrel stave, made bottle openers from bourbon barrel staves for the groomsmen and dads...I think that's it so far. My current to-do lists includes making our signs (writing on a large chalkboard for a welcome sign, and using alcohol inks to make pretty background that I can then write on for small signs), writing our guests names in calligraphy for escort cards, painting our table numbers, and finishing up designing our programs and day-of cards for the wedding party.

It's kind of a lot, but I've had fun so far, and I'm actually pretty close to being done. If I wasn't pretty crafty already, and/or didn't have the time, I definitely wouldn't have undertaken so much.

If you want to DIY, go for it! Sometimes it can help relieve stress by working on your projects. I made my own pew bows out of tulle

Let's see... we made the table numbers, the centerpieces, the bouquets, some signs, the favors, some decorations for the reception, and we're each making gifts for the bridal party members. Still need to make decorations for the church (I asked months ago if we were going to do anything to decorate the church. FH says no. Cut to 2 weeks ago when the Pastor asks if we're decorating the church and now all of a sudden it's "yeah, I guess we will." Smiley amazing ).

My mom and I are making signs, table numbers, card box, bridal party gifts, and the centerpieces. For the centerpieces though, we're just providing the vases and other trinkets. Our caterer is also our florist and will be providing the flowers and greenery for the centerpieces. You've got a lot of time to make stuff. If you're crafty and want to make decor, I say go for it! If you start feeling overwhelmed, maybe re-think what you're making. Do you have any crafty friends or family that could help out? Good luck and congrats!!!

Biggest thing was my chuppah (wedding canopy).

But really, you can make as much or as little as you like. Just remember that most DIY either doesn't save you money (after accounting for materials you mess up), or saves you so little that you're being "paid" about 50 cents an hour to do it. So if you are doing it because you like it, fine. But otherwise, save DIY for the big items, and either skip other items or buy them commercially.

I told myself I wasn't going to do a whole lot to kind of save the time and burden, but now that we're two weeks away (lol perfect timing, exactly my point) I've struck up the energy to knock out some DIY signs!

We got engaged this past December, I had some major health issues literally a few days after the engagement, so we didn't start planning until around March when we set our date. Were 53 days out today.

This is what Ive made so far:

    1. Toasting glasses and serving set
    2. Sign for candy bar and trial run of candy bar
    3. Table runners (I just bought large sections of fabric that would not fray and measured and cut them to desired lengths)
    4. The floral part of my centerpieces
    5. Our guest book "wall hanging"
    6. My headpiece
    7. Wine glasses for bridesmaids
    8. Sola wood flower bouquets
    9. Boutenierres for the guys

Currently working on finishing the remaining signs and also our giant paper flower arch for the ceremony. Theres a few other small things as well but this is the biggest. If your talking about making the items yourself you have plenty of time just make sure you create a deadline for each project and stick to it.

Go for it!! I’m planning to do the same... only thing I suggest is look into prices and supplies. Certain things I know I’ll have to just buy cause it’ll end up being cheaper, but since you are already crafty then you shouldn’t have an issue making majority of your items.

I'm DIY'ing about everything I possibly can...not because its cheaper...but because I like it and then I get things how I want them.

    Currently my list is:

    Veil

bouquets for myself and my three girls

    boutonnieres for the guys

Ceremony decor-Arch, flowers-we don't need much here because its outdoors in a park

    reception decor-centerpieces, signs etc

All the food for the reception

favors for all the guests-etched mason jar mugs

    save the dates

    thank you cards

    invites

yard games-giant jenga, dice, dominoes, etc..

pretty much everything except our wedding attire....

It's a lot but I'm a crafty person and so is my FH so it works for us. I am exactly 1 year out from my wedding (EEEK!! This time next year I'll be putting my wedding dress on!!!) so I have some time. I've broken everything down into smaller projects for when I have more time or less time...that way I am not overwhelmed a month out having to figure out how I'm going to do everything. I can't just sit and watch TV...I have to do things. So I work on my list little by little and its coming along nicely...

If you want to do it, are on a budget and enjoy that kind stuff, then I’d say go for it!!

I’m doing pretty much everything DIY including my backdrop, signs, name cards, florals, etc... I am cutting out things that aren’t really important to me like party favors and real invitations (I’m going electronic). I also love thrifting so I’ve been starting a collection of stuff that I’ll be modifying (picture below).

I think if you have enough help the day of and find a way to transport everything, I think you’ll be okay. I will have a wedding coordinator and crew who will help me set up and break down the day of. We are also renting a uhaul as well.

Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

    Thrifted items...some will be spray painted/modifiedCrafty 20

If you are doing a lot of DIY, as I am, I would reccomend yard/garage sales. I have found so much cheap stuff to use as decoration that just needs some paint and a little oomph. Thrifting is also a huge help.

I'm trying to put decorations together myself too! Luckily I have 2 years before the wedding so I have time to spread out buying things to save money and get ideas and put everything together!
